Hey There,

Up for sale is a Sami/VW Turbodiesel project I started for my wife but unfortunately the “T” word has made it clear, I’m not the guy who’s going to finish it. Needless to say, she’s disgusted. We were at a Bronco show in TN when I hear her and another good friend of ours talking and I keep hearing “Samurai”, not Bronco.  They do a deal that has me driving the shop truck from PA to AL and back to pick this thing up. Well, I gotta say it was a very nice RUST FREE truck with a ton of good store bought mods, ran and drove nicely, needed paint and seats and that was about it. We loaded it and went home. $1500 in fuel later it was in our driveway and she was happy. Well, for a while. We put 33’s on it and she started complaining about power or the lack thereof.  Since she is also a VWaholic, I had stuff laying around from some of her cars, including a 1.9 AAZ mechanical injection Turbodiesel we’d kept. It had a complete top end done – rebuilt head, new injection pump, injectors, the works, so we decided to install it using the Acme conversion kit. It went together well but I refused to use the recommended crossflow Audi radiator. I had no desire to hack the inner fenders or have the rad sticking up nearing touching the hood. I opted for a Be Cool custom aluminum one, made the mounts, found most of the new hoses and fittings, and got it that far. I am so busy with my company, I don’t have time to work on our daily drivers let alone the Sami. It’s sat since last fall and needs a new home. Here’s what it has in it;

1991 RUST FREE BODY, FACTORY A/C, the nicer late model dash, with clean title

1996 VW 1.9 AAZ Turbo Diesel w/ new head, pump, and injectors

Acme Adapters 1.9 TD conversion kit

New stage 3 clutch, pressure plate, and disk PLUS another spare clutch/pressure plate kit

Remote oil filter kit and lines

Fully Rhino lined inside almost 3/8” thick. The best work I’ve seen.

SPOA 5 inch lift w/ YJ spring kit

Rocky Roads complete OTT stage II steering system

Trail Tough Mighty Kong frame tied transfer case skid plate

Trail Tough rocker skids

Billet drive shaft extensions

Petro Works long range 15 gal fuel tank and skid plate

Extended length shock mounts

New when we got it Rally Top Hard top

New Bikini top

New seats

ARB Front bumper and bull bar

Schrock Works rear bumper and tire carrier w/ led lights. (Keeping the jack for my Bronco).

SJ 410 grill kit

ABS Inner door panel kit w/ quick release door straps

33x12.50x15 BFG Mud Terrains w/80% tread

New brakes, wheel bearings, and alignment

Here’s what it needs;

Finish mounting radiator and run all coolant/oil hoses, run electrical, new pipe from turbo to the new exhaust, cooling fan, serpentine belt, repaint the passenger door and front, drive it and have fun. All The parts needs to complete the swap are in the back and included in the auction; a new VW cross flow radiator, several new and used electric fans, a serpentine belt driven Audi quattro fan and bearing mount (the way I was going to go), hoses, fittings, minutia..

$6500/reasonable offers. If you lowball me, I’ll hang up.

Listed locally and on EBAY.

To you evil doers- If you spam or attempt to Phish me, I’ll hunt you to the ends of the earth...

To the rest of you decent human beings, Thanks for checking it out.

Which automaker's 84-year-old CEO is making investors nervous?

Sun, 06 Jul 2014

We haven't heard much about Suzuki since it decided to leave the US market in 2012, but things are going well for the little automaker these days with the recent announcement of record annual profits. It would seem that investors should be ecstatic, but they are starting to question the man at the helm. Company president and chairman Osamu Suzuki is now 84 years old and is guaranteed at least one more year as the leader, but shareholders want to know who is taking his place when the inevitable happens.
We're not being ageist, here. As long as the Suzuki can run the company to the satisfaction of investors, he absolutely deserves the top spot. According to Bloomberg, the issue making shareholders so edgy is that the business doesn't have a transition plan in place. The president obviously isn't a young man, and folks are worried that if something happens suddenly, there could be chaos deciding a successor and a free-falling stock price.
Suzuki's tenure at the company is somewhat astounding. He married the granddaughter of the founder and took her name because the family had no male heirs. In world where many people hope to retire as soon as possible, he's worked for the same automaker for the last 50 years, including stints as company president from 1978 to 2000 and 2008 to the present. Investors aren't questioning the president's ability as a business leader; they just want a clearer understanding of the automaker's future direction.

Junkyard Gem: 2010 Suzuki Kizashi SE

Sun, Aug 29 2021

American Suzuki Motor Corporation filed for bankruptcy in 2012, and new Suzuki-badged cars stopped being sold here the following year (meanwhile, Suzuki went on to create one of the biggest-selling cars in its home market). While many of the United States-market Suzukis of the previous decade had been Daewoos beneath the emblems, the Kizashi sedan was designed and manufactured entirely by Suzuki. There were high hopes – at first – that it would revive the brand's American fortunes. Here's a first-model-year example, found in a San Francsico Bay Area self-service yard a few months back. The word Kizashi means "something great is coming" in Japanese, but the Great Recession and the decreasing popularity of non-truck-shaped new vehicles in the United States kept sales of these cars low (even as Monster Tajima broke the ten-minute barrier in a Suzuki at Pikes Peak). You could buy a new Kizashi here until American Suzuki folded its tent and left in 2013, leaving just two-wheeled Suzukis available here for highway use. That was unfortunate because the Kizashi provided a lot of value for the price. This Kizashi SE had an MSRP starting at $21,499 (about $27,085 in 2021 dollars), and it had a pleasant interior and a bunch of unexpected standard features. You got keyless ignition, power seats with memory, 17" alloy wheels and a pretty decent seven-speaker audio system with USB and Bluetooth inputs (both of which were still uncommon in lower-priced cars at the time). If you upgraded to the GTS or SLS trim levels ($22,499 and $24,399, respectively), you got goodies including a thumping 10-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system, a power sunroof and 18-inch wheels. But unless you were selling Hayabusas or KingQuads, 2010 wasn't a great time to have a Suzuki sign in front of your American showroom. The days of Geo- and Chevrolet-badged Suzukis roaming every American road ended with the Metro and Tracker; by the end, only the Kizashi, SX4 and Grand Vitara remained here. It appears that a Ford dealership in Pennsylvania sold this car at some point prior to its migration west. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder made 185 horsepower, better than its four-cylinder Mazda6 and Altima rivals. Smaller-displacement versions of the J24B engine went into the Aerio, Esteem, Sidekick, Tracker, and Vitara; the Grand Vitara got the 2.4. A six-speed manual transmission was available in the Kizashi's other trim levels, but SE buyers had to take the CVT. This content is hosted by a third party.

DAMD Little D kit makes the Suzuki Jimny look like a little Land Rover

Thu, Nov 15 2018

When the new generation of the Suzuki Jimny debuted, it drew plenty of comparisons. Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Jeep Wrangler, Toyota Land Cruiser, etc. Pick an old-school-styled boxy off-roader, and it would probably work. But one Japanese Tuner is taking the lookalike comparisons to the next level, focusing on one of the most iconic off-roaders of all time: the Land Rover Defender. DAMD Inc., the tuner that also created a body kit to make the Toyota 86 sports car look like the Lexus LFA supercar, is developing a styling kit that makes the Jimny go full Defender. We can't lie, as much as we love the regular Jimny, this looks pretty damn cool, as well. While the public waits for Jaguar Land Rover to launch the next-generation Defender, this imposter will have to do (for people outside the U.S.—the Jimny is still not available here). The nose alterations make the resemblance impossible to ignore. It adds another headlight dimple for the signature trio and has "LITTLE D" lettering above the grille, which ditches the Wrangler-like vertical slats for horizontal bars. It also adds a beefier front bumper with a more prominent skid plate. The mudflaps, knobby tires and off-roady wheels, bare spare tire, and the angled rear bumper complete the look. The rest of the similarities are already part of the Jimny. The boxy body, the wheel flares, and the roof cap are part of the standard model. Beyond the images, there is not much information on the kit. There's no price, but DAMD notes it is scheduled to release in 2019. That gives us just enough time to move out of the country and order a Jimny. Related Video:
