Up for auction is a 1988 Suzuki Samurai. I bought this samurai back in december of last year to build into a rock crawler, I used it all through hunting season with no issues. The motor has been upgraded to a 1.6 16v motor and 3 speed transmission. I dont know the mileage of the motor or transmission, it was already in when I bought it. It has the factory 3.73 pinion gears, those of you that know trackers and sidekicks know this motor and transmission came with a lower gear than the one in this samurai, so think about that before bidding. It has aftermarket seats and a fuel cell in the back. This samurai also has a rocky road spring over lift with heavy duty shackles and new leaf springs. The door panels are falling apart and the gauges don't work, the speedo does. There is a leaking wheel cylinder on the rear passenger side, and the top keeps you dry but needs replacing and the transmission needs a rear main seal. This was bought as a project and is not intended for sale as a daily driver. The reserve price is set below what I feel the value is considering the motor and transmission are highly sought after for samurais. This samurai was used as a trail rig when i bought it and that is what i have used it for also. It is very reliable and off road the automatic is perfect. Call me anytime and leave a message if I cant answer. I will be happy to answer any questions you have or you can come by and check it out if you set up a appointment with me. I have a set of 4.10 toyota axles I bought for this samurai and a power steering setup that can be purchased at an additional prices after the auction. Thanks and good luck Riley (256) 572 9651

Indian diamond merchant gives 600 new cars to his staff
Fri, Oct 26 2018NEW DELHI — India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi helped a diamond merchant present hundreds of new cars as gifts to his employees on Thursday. Six hundred employees of Hari Krishna Exporters, a diamond trading company run by Savji Dholakia, received cars made by Indian manufacturer Maruti Suzuki, while around 1,000 more staffers were offered gifts of cash deposits and apartments in a huge outdoor ceremony in Surat, Gujarat. Indians often give each other gifts in the run-up to Diwali, a major Hindu festival celebrating the triumph of good over evil that this year falls on Nov. 7. Modi addressed the prize-giving in his home state of Gujarat via video link, as well as presenting some of the employees with car keys in the capital New Delhi. Dholakia is famous across India for giving lavish gifts to his employees at Diwali, including hundreds of apartments in 2016's ceremony. The showroom value of the 600 cars would be more than $2 million. Gift-giving in the latter part of the year when several Hindu festivals are celebrated provides a major boost to India's economy. The gifts were part of a program targeting staff who have given loyal service to the diamond trader. "The aim of this program was to reward employees' loyalty and dedication towards the company," Dholakia said in a Facebook post.Reporting by Alasdair Pal Related Video: Image Credit: Reuters Auto News Weird Car News Suzuki
Junkyard Gem: 1993 Suzuki Swift GT
Fri, Aug 25 2017General Motors sold rebaged versions of the Suzuki Cultus in the United States, first as the 1984-1988 Chevrolet Sprint, then as the 1989-1997 Geo Metro, and finally as the 1998-2001 Chevrolet Metro. Meanwhile, Suzuki sold the Cultus on these shores as the Swift. Three-cylinder Metros were miserably slow and admirably fuel-efficient, but it was possible to buy the same car with a yowling 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine making 100 horsepower: the Swift GT. Here's a very rare example, found in a Colorado self-service wrecking yard. These cars weighed only about 1,800 pounds, so they were nearly as quick as the more powerful but heavier Honda Del Sol Si and Nissan Sentra SE-R ... and much cheaper. At $10,149 (about $17,400 in inflation-adjusted 2017 dollars), the Swift GT looked like a steal next to the $12,455 Sentra SE-R and the $16,070 Del Sol Si. However, the Hyundai Scoupe Turbo, priced at a mere $10,999, looked like the best deal of all in 1993. This one has lived a hard life, with body damage, faded interior, and rust in the usual spots. 175,303 miles, most of them probably spent above 5,000 rpm. Perhaps some Metro owner will grab the running gear and seats, in order to create a Geo sleeper... but we doubt it. Another piece of obscure automotive history, bound for the crusher. Suzuki USA wasn't pushing Swift advertising very hard in 1993, so we'll go to the car's homeland for a TV ad for the regular Cultus hatchback. This content is hosted by a third party. The earlier version of the Cultus GTi (factory-hot-rod counterpart to the U.S.-market Chevrolet Sprint) got some ads full of fire and Pet Shop Boys in its homeland.
Suzuki bringing compact iV-4 to Frankfurt
Wed, 31 Jul 2013Even though American Suzuki Motor Corporation filed for bankruptcy last year and stopped selling cars in the US and Canada as part of its reorganization, there are still plenty of countries around the world where Suzuki continues to sell autos. For those markets, the automaker is working on a compact sport-utility vehicle, called the iV-4, which will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Suzuki says the iV-4 "embodies the basic ruggedness of an SUV," and that its styling is modern and innovative. We'll have to take Suzuki's word on that one, though the teaser above certainly looks the part, with the grille reminding us of the one found on the Jeep Grand Cherokee (minus a few slats, of course).
Scroll down for the short-and-sweet press release, and expect the full brace of information to be revealed in September.
