 Read this first please:
* It will not pass valley emissions as currently built.
* It's a Samurai so it's small and a tight fit for two large people.
* It's a 1300 so while it's got more power than a stock Samurai it's not going anywhere fast.
* It's 25+ years old so it needs an owner who can turn wrench on occasion.

Odometer reads 53K miles (actually 153K miles). Runs very good, stronger than stock.

Engine, Transmission and T-case all rebuilt at 151K miles
• 1.3 Engine:
- All moving parts replaced, all new bearings and seals.

- 40CV Harley carb and ZOR adapter, manual choke.
- Electric fuel pump replacement, fuel pressure regulator, Jeep by-pass filter and fuel cut-off switch.
- New oil and water pumps, timing belt, tensioner, etc.
- New GM 70 amp alternator
- Aluminum radiator and temp controlled (190 on-170 off) Zirgo 2100 cfm electric fan.

• Transmission/Transfer case:

• Nearly new Hankook tires with matching spare.
Interior
• Excellent Dodge Neon seats and modified seat sliders (really comfortable).
• New carpeting all around.
• Everything works (heater, interior lights, clock, etc).
• White face gauges.
• New triple gauge (intake water temp, charge and oil pressure).
• Custom fitted floor mats.
• New Pioneer stereo with detachable faceplate.
Exterior
• Original paint. Nice from about 10ft, I'd call it a 6-7.
• Custom front bumper with shackles/shackle covers.
• New 9,000 lb winch (Badlands).
• 27w LED floodlights on hawse plate adapter.
• Yakima LoadWarrior basket with high-lift mount, shovel mount and light tabs.
• Lockable spare tire gas can carrier.
• High-lift jack, shovel and Blitz gas can.
• . . .. . .. . .. . .. . ..and more

It has a handful of minor things that need to be taken care of to make it 100%.
*Wheel is slightly off-set, the drop pittman arm will center the wheel,  Tracks and brakes straight.
*There is an occasional oil drip - I believe from the rear main seal, I made a mistake when I installed it.
*The passenger fender wheel had rust due to a battery overflow.  It's been repaired but if I were to keep the rig I'd replace the fender eventually.
*The filler bung on the transfer case looks to have been weld repaired.  It will on occasion leak a drop of transmission fluid.
*The air-conditioning was removed, there are two holes in the passenger floorboard where the hoses used to be.
*A couple of other small things but it's a 25 year old vehicle.

Lots of extras, including take off parts, assembly tools, shop manual, many build photos, documentation, etc.

No warranties; sold as is. $500.00 non-refundable deposit due within 24 hours of close of the auction.  Buyer is responsible for making all arrangements to pick up the vehicle, shipping, etc.  I'll help as much as I can on my end, but ultimately the responsibility rests with the buyer.  If you can find a nicer Samurai tin top for this price I strongly recommend you buy it.

Watch Indian cars fail Global NCAP crash tests miserably

Tue, May 17 2016

It's taken for granted that cars currently for sale in Western countries pass crash tests, and often merit four- or five-star safety ratings in NCAP or NHTSA tests. This is why these scores attained by Indian market cars are so galling: seven vehicles currently sold in India got zero stars in any category – a horrifying clean sweep. It is understandable that cars sold in a developing market are cheap and equipment levels are low, but acceptable crash safety is something that should be considered essential in all markets. The cars tested in the Global New Car Assessment Programme were Hyundai's Eon, Maruti Suzuki's Eeco and Celerio models, Mahindra's Scorpio SUV and several Renault Kwid models. All of the cars were manufactured in India for the Indian market, and the Mahindra Scorpio was the sole larger car. It was first introduced in 2002, with updates made in 2006 and 2014. Mahindra has long planned to export its vehicles to the United States, with the likeliest version a pickup variant of the Scorpio. Renault's Kwid crossover was tested in three versions. Initially, the Kwid was tested with and without airbags, and on both accounts it scored zero stars in adult occupant protection and two stars in child occupant protection. Renault strengthened the bodyshell and the crash tests showed the updated Kwid's structure did not collapse; still, it was rated unstable and that it couldn't withstand further stress. On closer inspection, the structural reinforcements were found to be done only on the driver's side of the passenger cell. Renault has confirmed more safety updates are on their way. "We welcome Renault's efforts to correct this and we look forward to testing another improved version with airbags. Renault has a strong record of achievement in safety in Europe and it should offer the same commitment to its customers in India", says Global NCAP's David Ward. "Global NCAP strongly believes that no manufacturer anywhere in the world should be developing new models that are so clearly sub-standard. Car makers must ensure that their new models pass the United Nations' minimum crash test regulations, and support use of an airbag." The airbag-equipped Kwid was the only model of the seven cars tested that was fitted with one. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Suzuki shows weird, wonderful trio of concepts in Tokyo

Wed, Oct 28 2015

Suzuki brought a whole mess of intriguing little runabouts to the Tokyo Motor Show this year. And though the Japanese automaker no longer participates (at least with its four-wheel automobiles) in the North American market, we didn't want to miss the opportunity to check out its latest oddities, and capture them for your Nipponophilic amusement. The one that caught our attention the most on the Suzuki stand this year is the Mighty Deck. The little yellow minicar features a canvas roof, an open rear cargo bed, and a genuinely delighted look on its face. Though it strikes us as about as useful as an umbrella in a snow storm, we really dig the stylistic combination of new materials and old, the rugged with the approachable, and of course the tiny size that could only come from the densely packed island nation. We're not exactly longing for the return of the Suzuki X90, but we'd love a new version to look like this Mighty Deck. Joining the Mighty Deck is the equally unusual Air Triser, a concept that aims to put the "mini" back in minivan. Though clearly designed for the crowded streets of Tokyo, the Air Triser manages to squeeze three rows of seats into its compact footprint. Maximizing ingress, egress, and interior volume, the engine (surely displacing about as much as a bottle of bubble tea) is pushed all the way into the front, with pillarless side portals consisting of opposing sliding doors. Its shoulders may be high, but the interior appears light and airy, with four individual buckets floating atop the flat wood floor ahead of a rear bench, all uninterrupted by consoles or excessive clutter. Though clearly much smaller than what we'd call a minivan on our side of the Pacific, designs like these make us wonder if we really need our family haulers as big as they are. Though there were plenty of other production JDM curiosities on the Suzuki stand, the last concept that caught out eye is the Ignis Trail. The ruggedized soft-road hatchback combines rounded styling with beefed-up wheel arches packed with (relatively) large rolling stock, rack rails on a black roof, and anodized red accents inside and out to offset the white and black color scheme. Scope out the trio in our gallery of live images from the Tokyo Motor Show.

Suzuki previews new S-Cross compact CUV ahead of Paris debut

Fri, 10 Aug 2012

Despite having one heck of a lackluster presence here in the United States, Suzuki still manages to do well in other markets. That in mind, the automaker continually releases new products and concept cars at international auto shows that aren't destined for U.S. consumption, but this might not be one of those times.
The aging SX4 crossover is in need of replacement, and if Suzuki is still committed to selling passenger cars in the States, something fresh like this S-Cross concept could be just the ticket. Suzuki has, after all, confirmed that the S-Cross will eventually make its way into production.
We have no other details to divulge about the S-Cross, except that it's a small crossover concept and that it will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in September. Suzuki says that the S-Cross has a "Emotion x Quality x Aerodynamics" design theme that uses "distinctive dynamic lines that start on the front bumper, sweep across the doors, and continue to the rear of the body." No offense, Suzuki, but we've heard that before.
