2009 Subaru Impreza Wrx Premium Wagon 4-door 2.5l Adult-owned on 2040-cars
New York, New York, United States
Car works great, I've gotten all the appropriate services and oil changes every 3800 miles or so (manual recommends that number, weirdly). Mostly owned in Virginia, but when I brought it up here I've been keeping it in a garage except the past 2 months or so. Never had any problems with the car. I've been the only owner, and I'm a very reasonable driver. I enjoy the extra oomph this car has over the non-turbo version, but I've never raced it or "dropped the clutch" or any of that nonsense. Take a look at the pictures for the condition of the car; the only new stuff is a scratch near the driver's side door about 5 inches long that happened this weekend, unfortunately.
The car is really fun to drive! Mine has the extra dealer-installed options for the sport-grille on the front, the short-throw shifter, and the SPT exhaust (which has a really nice note and is not too loud like most aftermarket exhausts). Mileage is a little over what is actually on it right now, but I'm probably going to use it a couple of times over the next week while it sells, so I just upped it in the listing just to be sure I didn't mislead anyone. Comes with the roof rack, which right now is set up for a surf board and a bicycle. Pretty handy if you have either of these things. I'm selling it because I pay way too much to use it once a month max, plus once you own a car in the city suddenly everyone is your best friend when they have to move. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions, I'll answer as best I can. |

Next Subaru WRX and STI to go sedan only; reveal headed for LA
Mon, 26 Aug 2013After a serious bit of teasing at the 2013 New York Auto Show, Subaru might be finally preparing to pull the sheets off of the production versions of the new WRX and STI. The venue, according to Automotive News, will be the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Besides that tasty bit of info, AN has a number of other interesting ideas about the 2015 WRX.
If you've been a fan of the five-door bodystyle, don't read this - the next WRX and STI will reportedly go four-door only. We've already seen the latter's whopping great wing, a tradition we're happy to see soldering on for next-gen car. According to the AN report, power figures to be around 265 horsepower from a 2.5-liter, turbocharged, flat-four engine.
Los Angeles is still quite far off, so expect to hear more rumblings about a production WRX or STI in the coming weeks. Take a look above for our most recent batch of spy photos, and then hop down below for some images of the stunning WRX Concept that was shown at New York.
You can own this legendary Subaru rally car
Fri, Apr 8 2016Why would you want to buy a 19-year old Subaru? Because racecar. The '90s was the heyday of Subaru and Mitsubishi rally cars, a heritage the WRX and Evo still carry. A matching '97 WRC car cost $123,000 back in 2009, but this new listing does not name a price. If ex-Colin McRae cars are any yardstick, expect to write a check for more than $200,000 to get this in your garage. A competition-built car lives a hard life from the moment it's unleashed on its first rally stage. The fate of this Subaru is no exception, as the 1997 Monte Carlo Rally, its first outing, was cut short due to an accident. McRae, known for his vigorous driving style, slid the Impreza into the woods in a right-hand corner of the wintery stage and mangled the right rear corner: the rear wheel wouldn't even turn as he limped the car back to the pits. Subaru did claim a win from Monte Carlo thanks to Pedro Liatti's efforts, beating Carlos Sainz's Ford Escort WRC by nearly a minute. The next year, the repaired Impreza saw use by the Polish rally driver Krzysztof Holowczyc in a handful of WRC events. During the following decade the car went from one private team to another and ended up being completely restored between 2008 and 2009 – probably a well-deserved overhaul at that point. It hasn't seen a rally stage since, as it's been in collector hands and remains in perfect technical condition. For anyone who grew up either watching Subarus like this conquering rally stage after another, or having wrestled them on virtual gravel with video game controller in hand, this car is one of the essential 1990s motorsport machines. It would serve it right to be bought by someone who used to have a Subaru WRC poster on their bedroom wall 20 years ago. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Day 2: We made it to Patagonia | Subarus in South America
Wed, Feb 17 2016We made it. After Monday's layover in Buenos Aires on Tuesday afternoon, Chris McGraw and I landed in El Calafate, Argentina – right smack in the middle of Patagonia. The Andes mountains were to our west, open plains and lakes cut by glaciers to our east. McGraw and I settled inside a Subaru Outback, and with big smiles on our faces, high-fived as I said the words, "Dude... We're in f*cking Patagonia." Our official adventure starts today, where we're driving a number of Subaru crossovers on all sorts of terrain, visiting glaciers that are larger than most American cities, and taking in some of the most scenic landscape I've ever laid eyes on. Crosstreks, Foresters, and Outbacks will get us to our next destination, and we'll have a full recap of the day's activities for you tomorrow morning. Be sure to follow along with us on social media – Autoblog's Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram will provide more insights into our journey. Of course, both Chris and I will be posting individual impressions from the journey, so follow us, too (@stevenewing and @thequikdraw). In the meantime, get an idea of our epic surroundings in the video above.
