The engine and sequential gearbox have just been broken in with maybe 100 mile of very easy hill climb on tarmac and the shell and suspension and most of the other good stuff only has competed in one gravel rally  (new england forest rally) and a few tarmac stages at ESPR so the shell is in near perfect condition. The custom cages roll cage was installed by Greg Drodz in chicago who is only one of 3 certified custom cages installers in the USA as per their website.
The engine was built for pat moro to compete at the X games last year By jim Justice of justice racing engines as a spare and was NEVER installed in his car and is capable of handling 500-600 hp.
I am running a stock turbo (vf39) and a 34 mm restrictor and the minute and with a conservative tune its making 250 who and 250 foot pounds of torque. A bigger turbo was my next upgrade but seeing as i had a new vf39 i decided to get some use out of it and break in engine and box before moving up. The KAPS 6 speed sequential box was supplied by Julien at lachute performance in Canada and is a mechanical sequential with the carbon shifter and a geartronics flat shift ECU as well as a VIPEC plug and play v88 with launch control and anti lag.

This car is for sale for 50% of what is would cost to actually build a car like this. With the right driver this car could compete at the very top level of rallying or rallycross here in the US.

Junkyard Gem: 1992 Subaru SVX

Wed, Jul 20 2016

Subaru is doing quite well these days with its formula of selling a combination of sensible pavement-optional commuters and rally-inspired performance cars, but go back a quarter-century or so and many of the cars with the Pleiades badges were known more for futuristic jet-fighter-style cockpits and weird gadgetry. This philosophy reached its peak with the brilliant, bizarre Subaru SVX, sold in North America for the 1992 through 1995 model years. Here's a well-preserved purple SVX I spotted a few days ago in a Denver self-service yard. Just look at the side glass! It's impossible to not love the way this car looks. The design of the SVX's exterior was the creation of Giorgetto Giugiaro. The SVX had a DOHC flat-six displacing 3.3 liters, the largest street engine Subaru had built up to that point. It made 231 horsepower, which was respectable for the era. Unfortunately, Subaru didn't have a manual transmission that could handle that kind of engine power, so every SVX came with a four-speed automatic... which (in addition to being way less fun than a manual) also couldn't handle the EG33's output. For this reason, you see SVXs in fairly decent condition at junkyards all the time; a good-running, clean example is worth good money, but one with a bad transmission is worth its weight in scrap. US Army tests Subaru-powered hybrid truck

Sat, 04 Jan 2014

The military has been studying the implementation of alternative drivetrains for years, a tiny sampling of which includes the diesel-electric hybrid technical hauler and L-ATV from Oshkosh Defense and the Aggressor from Quantum Technologies. There was also ADA Technologies' work with ultracapitors, General Motors' focus on fuel cells and the roll out of electric motorcycles for Special Forces. In the Ultra Light Vehicle (ULV) prototype vehicle pictured above, we have the latest developments in the Department of Defense's hybrid interest combined with a need to develop a lightweight replacement for the AM General Humvee.
In 2010 the Office of the Secretary of Defense put the Army's Tank Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center (TARDEC) in charge of developing a personnel carrier that could "balance payload, performance and protection," and do so without exorbitant cost. Armored Humvees can weigh more than seven tons, and while the ULV is just under 14,000 pounds, the new vehicle can do a lot more with its weight.
The Subaru turbodiesel under the hood puts out 175 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. That's not much for pulling 13,916 pounds, so it's assisted by two Remy 410HVH HT electric motors each capable of adding 268 continuous hp and 369 peak hp, along with 844 lb-ft of continuous torque or 1,221 ft-lbs at peak. They're only limited by the 14.2 kWh lithium-ion battery rated at 65 kW of continuous power and 180 kW of peak power, but still, TARDEC says the ULV can do 21 miles on electric power and on the flats has a combined range of 337 miles at 35 mph.
