Listed for auction, is a '92 Subaru SVX. I recently picked this car up from a friend, who was using it as a daily driver. He stopped driving it, when it started making a knocking / clunking sound, near the front of the transmission (sounds like it's coming from the bellhousing). The engine starts right up, and runs great. The transmission shifts fine in all gears, but it does make an odd knocking sound.
The SVX has 175k miles, and is automatic. Overall, it is a pretty decent car. Brakes, suspension, steering all seem to work fine. There are some dings, scratches, and rust bubbling to the body (at the rear quarters), but there is no major body damage. All glass is in good condition. A few interior pieces are missing (mostly trim around the dash). The power windows work, but the sunroof does not; it will open, but not close right under it's own power (have to close it by hand). One tire will go flat in a few days, and the battery does not hold charge (I have been jumping it, to get it started). It ran out of PA inspection back in February.
I am selling this vehicle as a parts car, or to fix up. It is being sold AS-IS, without any warranty implied. I have a clear title for the car, which is still in my friends name (I can easily get it transferred over to the new owner). It is located in Zionsville, PA 18092. I would highly suggest having the vehicle towed.
Thanks for looking!

Factory Five's Subaru WRX-based 818 kit now on sale [w/video]
Fri, 21 Mar 2014The Subaru WRX has always needed a dash more style, and the do-it-yourself carmakers at Factory Five are looking to accomplish a lot more than that with their new mid-engine, rear-wheel drive 818. The sports car started with a contest in 2011 to create the shape for the company's next vehicle, while sticking within certain limits. A designer named Nouphone Bansasi had his entry chosen, and first cars were completed last year.
The 818 is named after its target weight of 818 kilograms (1,803 pounds), and it's offered in two forms. The S starts at $9,990 and is meant for street use, with two seats and a basic interior. The R model for $10,990 is more track-focused and features a tiny windshield and full roll cage. The company claims that complete cars can be built for around $15,000, after factoring in the donor Subaru. Performance is very brisk, with acceleration to 60 miles per hour in under four seconds, according to Motor Authority.
The kits are meant to be something that even a relative novice could put together. All the builder needs to provide is a 2002-2007 Impreza or WRX. The car donates its turbocharged boxer four-cylinder engine, transmission, axles, brakes, steering and other major components. Factory Five supplies the spaceframe, body, suspension, lights, windshield and some interior trim. It doesn't even need paint, thanks to its gel-coated fiberglass body panels. The company also offers a laundry list of options, including carbon fiber aero components, upgraded suspension parts, improved brakes and more. Kits can be ordered in either left- or right-hand drive.

Subaru Viziv GT gears up for Vision Gran Turismo action [w/video]
Wed, 19 Nov 2014Ever wonder what it would look like if Subaru made a big brother to the BRZ, maybe to take on the Nissan GT-R or Japan's Super GT series? (Well, the BRZ already competes in the GT300 class, but we're talking about the GT500 major leagues here.) Wonder no more, car fans, because it'd probably look something like this. Only it's not a road car, and it's not a racecar. It's the latest addition to the growing roster of Vision Gran Turismo concepts for GT6.
Borrowing on the design theme put forth by the Viziv concept that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and the Viziv 2 concept showcased the following year, the Viziv GT Vision Gran Turismo is envisioned as a racing machine. Its hypothetical hybrid powertrain pairs a 2.0-liter boxer four, turbocharged and direct-injected, to a trio of high-output electric motors to deliver a claimed 591 horsepower and 593 pound-feet of torque.
Carbon fiber construction helps offset the weight of the motors and batteries to keep the hybrid racing shooting brake down to a theoretical 3,000 pounds, with competition-spec aero to keep it glued to the track. Gamers will be able to download it directly in the game as part of the latest update, but you can scope it out right here in the image gallery above and the video and press release below.
