Up for auction is this 1992 Subaru SVX all wheel drive. This car needs some items repaired but is in good overall condition. I will try to list everything. The body is in excellent condition. There is absolutely no rust and only small chips and scratches. There is one scrape on the right side of the front bumper and a scratch and very small door dent on the passenger side door. The paint is good driver quality with usual small chips from gravels, etc. The engine is the original 3.3 liter boxer and starts, sounds and runs great. The windows all work except the passenger front window which is off the track or something. I can hear the motpr run but something is lose. The power sunroof sometimes works. The gauges all work, the air conditioner is cold. The factory stereo with AM, FM, Cassette and CD player is in the car. The radio plays good but I have not tried the CD or Cassette. If you interested in the operation of either email me and I will attempt to try it. The power antenna works as well. The tires are about 30 to 40 percent tread left. The biggest problem with the car is the transmission. It performs perfectly in reverse, first and second. In third it revs up really high before it goes into third and sometimes takes a long time. It sometimes goes into overdrive. I just paid $1800 to have it completely rebuilt including the standard overhaul kit and a new shift drum and torque convertor also. It shifted good for about 50 miles and then started doing the same thing again. The shop that overhauled will do nothing about it so I'm stuck. The all wheel drive does work. The interior is all original and in good condition except the driver's seat which is tore in the bottom and back. The factory upholstery is still available from Subaru but is pretty high. As well as I can remember about $600 to $700. This car would be a great car and dependable except for the transmission. The car is pretty rare and would make a good driver with the repairs. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED FOR THE CAR TO BE OF USE. I have over $3500 invested so far and the reserve on this car is far less. Email with any questions and thanks for looking.

2015 Subaru Legacy to start at $21,695*
Fri, 16 May 2014Subaru unveiled the 2015 Legacy at this year's Chicago Auto Show, and while the company was happy to tell us all about its new platform and features, it kept pricing a secret until now. The new all-wheel drive sedan arrives at dealers this summer with a starting price of $22,490, which includes its $795 destination charge, a $400 increase over last year's model with the CVT.
The Legacy takes advantage of a slightly larger, new platform, which Subaru claims is quieter. The 2.5-liter boxer-four-cylinder and 3.6-liter flat-six engines are carried over from the previous generation, but they see slight boosts in fuel economy. All models also now come standard with a CVT, and, of course, Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
The range starts with the basic 2.5i trim at $22,490 that comes standard with more airbags than before and a 6.2-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth and iPod integration. The $24,290 2.5i Premium trim really improves things with standard dual-zone climate control, power driver's seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 7-inch infotainment system and more. For $27,290, the 2.5i Limited adds a leather interior, 18-inch wheels, a Harmon/Kardon stereo, heated rear seats, fog lights, wood grain trim and more. A top-spec Legacy 3.6R Limited goes for $30,390 and comes with standard HID low beams.
Which is quicker in the standing mile, a Subaru WRX STI or a Porsche Cayman?
Thu, 26 Jun 2014The 2015 Subaru WRX STI and 2014 Porsche Cayman are both saddled with unfair reputations. The STI with its huge wing and gold wheels has the title of the ultimate boy-racer. On the other hand, Porsche brand snobs look down on he base Cayman as just a wannabe 911. In reality, they are both pretty fantastic performance cars. But what would happen if the two of them lined up at a stoplight, and maybe the guy in the suit in the Cayman started throwing some revs at the young man in the STI? Automobile decided to find out in a recent video pitting the two stereotyped hot rods against each other in a standing-mile drag race.
In terms of raw numbers, they are surprisingly close. Both use flat engines and six-speed manual transmissions here, but the Subaru has more power and torque. However, the Porsche makes up for it with 300 pounds less weight. Neither should have a problem with traction either thanks to the STI's sophisticated all-wheel-drive setup, and the Cayman's mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.
The comparable specs certainly show themselves in the real world for the race. We're not going to give away the winner here because it's too exciting, but let's just say the finish is very, very close. Scroll down to watch both of them shrug off their stereotypes and show off their real performance.
Subaru Viziv is a diesel hybrid crossover we could learn to love
Tue, 05 Mar 2013With the 2013 XV Crosstrek, Subaru reaffirmed its interest in niche crossovers, and early signs are that it's selling well, so will parent Fuji Heavy Industries green-light another one? That's the question begged by the new Viziv concept just unveiled here at the Geneva Motor Show.
Of course, this is a pure showcar, and the four-seat crossover coupe's drivetrain is suitably next-generation as well. The plug-in hybrid drivetrain system features a 2.0-liter diesel boxer engine mated to a CVT, and a pair of electric motors drive the rear wheels for a through-the-road all-wheel-drive system. By going with motor-driven rear axles, Subaru says it has been able to provide larger rear-seat footwell and lower load floor. More excitingly, Subaru says its control systems allow for side-to-side torque vectoring for improved handling, and the system actually apportions more power to the rear wheels when the Viziv takes a corner.
In typical concept car fashion, the Viziv features flashy butterfly doors that provide access to both the front and rear seats, along with oversized 20-inch wheels and cutting-edge lighting. We like the Viziv's overall design direction - it looks more organic and all-of-a-piece than we're used to seeing from the Japanese automaker.
