1969 Subaru 360 Vintage Micro Bus Van Sambar Rare 69 Rust Free Barn Find Hipster on 2040-cars
Springfield, Missouri, United States
1969 Subaru 360 van.....project. This thing is like a miniature VW bus! Super cool & rare to see! Hard to find & this one is rust free in the important spots! I have been a unique car enthusiast for 30+ years & this was the first Subaru Bus I had seen when I spotted it an a barn of a house I was looking to buy. I had to have the Subaru, so i worked it in on the house deal. The previous owner says that he bought the bus in Washington state in 1987. He put new tires on it & drove it a few times & then parked it in the barn where it has been setting since 1987. Still has the 1987 MO tags on it. I have not done anything to the bus other than put air in the tires & push it out of the barn. Still is dust covered & has some remnants of animals being in it. The bus has spent the last 27 years in a dry barn! Does not run or drive. You CANNOT fly in & drive this back to socal! It does roll, barely. It has the 360cc 2-stroke engine with manual trans. I have checked that the engine is not locked up. The left rear wheel trys to lock up while rolling, figure it is a brake shoe dragging. All parts are intact & all of the glass looks good. Looks like the bus was originally white & or red & looks like the seats have been recovered. The best part about this bus is that it is virtually rust free. The only spot of rust is in the left quarter panel around the air intake ? area. It appears there was moisture being held in that area becasue I cant find another spot of rust anywhere on the bus top or bottom. It looks that there was some minor body damage on the r. front into the door area that was somewhat repaired at one time. The L.qtr. around the rust area also has a dent. Overall a very straight & solid bus. I just dont have the time for it, have to many projects. Do some google searching & you will see some of the cool things that can be done with these, the sky is the limit for mods, or everything is here to restore original. Please ask questions & I have many more pictures. If you are a 360 bus expert & know of secret hiding spots for rust let me know & I will look & take pictures. Clear title in my name. The Subaru is located in Springfield, MO, about 3 hours SW of St. Louis & 2.5 hrs NE of Tulsa. Buyer needs to have a $500 deposit within 48 hours. Payments accepted are wire transfer or cash in person. NO Paypal, checks or credit cards. Payment must be made within 7 days after listing ends. I will help with loading of the car on transport but it does not run/drive. Subaru recalling almost 634,000* CUVs, sedans for possible puddle light short
Thu, 03 Jan 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a massive recall campaign today for some of the more popular Subaru models due to defective puddle lights that could short out and possibly lead to smoke and/or fire.
(*)While the recall notice lists a total of 633,842 Forester, Legacy, Outback and Tribeca models from various model years, Automotive News is reporting that there are only 53,999 units actually equipped with the defective lights, but Subaru is having to make the massive recall since it is unable identify which vehicles have the lights.
The problem with the 2009 through 2012 Forester, 2006 through 2012 Tribeca and the 2010 through 2011 Legacy and Outback is that the puddle lights mounted under the door mirrors can collect water or moisture, which can lead to the short. To fix the problem, Subaru is adding an extra fuse to the wiring harness as a part of the recall that will go into effect next month. For Forester owners, this is the second major recall in less than a year following the 275,000 units that were afflicted with faulty rear seatbelts.
Porsche 911 Turbo and Nissan GT-R Nismo star in World's Greatest Drag Race 4
Fri, 26 Sep 2014We love Motor Trend's annual World's Greatest Drag Race video. Now back for its fourth appearance, the idea of lining some of the world's fastest cars up for a ten-wide, straight-line, full-throttle run is, well... it's pretty freaking badass.
The lineup this year boasts some impressively fast cars to be sure. The group of ten includes the following darlings: Alfa Romeo 4C, BMW i8, BMW M4, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Ford Fiesta ST, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Subaru WRX STI and, last but not least, the Volkswagen GTI. Give us any one of those for the weekend, and we're happy to take the keys.
It must be said though, that for a publication that draws as much water as Motor Trend does, there are some big cars that we might expect to be here instead. The Lamborghini Huracán or Ferrari 458 Speciale would have added some exotic flare to the list, and the omissions of the Chevy Corvette Stingray (for the second year in a row) and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat are real head-scratchers.
Autoblog Minute: VW Q3 financial woes, 2015 Tokyo Motor Show
Fri, Oct 30 2015Consumer Reports pulls its Tesla recommendation, the U.S. Copyright Office offers a ruling affecting car owners, VW gets hit hard with third-quarter losses, and lots of exciting news from Tokyo. Autoblog senior editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Consumer Reports pulls its Tesla recommendation, the U.S. copyright office offers a ruling that affects car owners and gear heads, VW gets hit hard with third-quarter losses, and lots of exciting news from Tokyo. I'm senior editor Greg Migliore and this is your Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. After a week away testing vehicles for Autoblog's Tech of the Year award, we're back in the office to recap the week in automotive news. [00:00:30] One of the things you might have missed was Consumer Reports pulling its recommendation of Tesla's Model S sedan. The blemish for Tesla comes after a tally of reviews from customer surveys. The most common problem areas for the Model S as cited by survey takers included: the drivetrain, power equipment, charging equipment, body and sunroof squeaks, rattles, and leaks. So lots of stuff. Though they could not ignore a score of "worse-than-average", Consumer Reports still [00:01:00] highlighted the fact that the Model S was "the best performing car" they've ever tested. Telsa CEO Elon Musk took to social media to defend his sedans saying: "Consumer Reports reliability survey includes a lot of early production cars. Already addressed in new cars." And, "Tesla gets top rating of any company in service. Most important, CR says 97% of owners expect their next car to be a Tesla (the acid test)." In Financial news, Volkswagen took a hit and reported an operating loss of [00:01:30] $3.84 billion. This is the first such loss for VW in 15 years. Toyota reclaimed the crown as the world's largest automaker as well. It's important that it's not all doom and gloom for VW though in Q3. Sales revenues were up and the company's automotive division boasts $30 billion dollars in liquid assets. It's a sizable war chest that will no doubt come in handy, as the company has yet to feel the full brunt of the diesel emissions scandal. Good news for gear heads. The US copyright office [00:02:00] ruled in favor of mechanics and car owners by granting an exception to existing copyright law. The law was originally meant to prevent software pirating and bootlegging of Hollywood movies.
