NO RESERVE.  Selling 2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited.  It has a PA salvage title that will be re-assigned to the purchaser.  Car is in running condition.  This is a flood salvage vehicle.  The flood water did not reach the computer.  The car currently runs and drives but there are 2 lights that we have not been able to get turned off.  They are the drivers airbag light and the brake light.  Neither effects the driveability of the car, but car will not pass PA enhanced inspection until these issues are remedied.  We have replaced the brake controller that is in front of the rear axles and the brakes work.  The parking brake also works as you can hear the brake motor run when the brake is set and released.  The airbag issue is the left side - side impact sensor/airbag.

The exterior is in nice shape.  There are some light scratches on the right front fender.  Small dent on left front fender and two small ones on the left front door.  But overall in very good condition.  Interior also in nice shape.  Small tear on drivers seat and about a one inch cut on the center console lid.  See pictures.

The car was re-wired from the kick panels (by the front drivers/passenger feet) to under the rear seat area.  The hatch area was not re-wired.  The hatch area did not get wet as best we could tell.  A matching wiring harness could not be located, so all ends were cut and spliced in.  Each connection was then double shrink wrapped with shrink tubing.  See pictures.

This is a very nice car and runs great.  Selling in AS-IS condition.  Will assist with shipping if necessary but buyer will be responsible for all shipping costs.  Below is a list of items that have been replaced, a list of options, and what needs finished.  Please feel free to ask any questions.  I am trying to be upfront about everything but I haven't worked on car since last year.  It has been sitting in the garage since last summer and I no longer need the vehicle.

Replaced - Gas cap (read that a bad gas cap can affect many things), passenger seat airbag weight sensor, radio amplifier unit (under pass seat), airbag control unit (under center console, old one will come with car), carpet, front seats, center console, heater fan, radiator fans, brake controller, 1 relay on the stack next to the computer (bottom one - see picture).  Rear seat bottom was wet but did not replace.  Just dried it out.  A few other small sensors.  Carpet, foam, spare tire and tools in the cargo area.  We attempted replacing the body control unit thinking that might help, but car would not turn over.  I think they have to be programmed.  Original was put back in.  Spare will come with car.

Options - PW, PL, 6-way power seats, power mirrors, dual climate control, moonroof, 3.6 Liter Automatic, tow hitch, leather, CD player, rubber floor mats, cruise, manual paddle shift, heated seats, backup camera.  Does not have navigation.  I think it has an MP3 player in the console storage area.  The tires look pretty new.  Lots of good tread.

Needs - Brake and airbag lights need fixed.  From time to time the cruise, traction control, and check engine light come on.  They all come on at the same time.  Disconnecting the battery to reset the computer usually turns them back off.  It must be interconnected because that all come on/go off together.  Will probably need a battery at some point.  Needs drivers seat belt assembly.  Original one was rusted and moldy.  I have a tan one that we have been using that will come with the car along with the black one.  Couldn't find a black one at the time.

Have video available of car running and taking it for a drive.  Can email if interested.  Don't have youtube account for ebay.  Thanks for looking.

Subaru pulls on our heartstrings with father and daughter ad

Sun, Jun 7 2015

Do you remember your first car? Was it a hand-me-down from your parents? While it wasn't actually my first car, my parents gifted me a 1990 Mercury Sable as a daily driver, considering that my own chosen car, a 1965 Karmann Ghia, wasn't exactly the most reliable steed in the world. And while I predictably disliked the new-to-me family car, looking back, it was perfect – reliable, safe and, perhaps most importantly for a 17-year-old, free. If it weren't for that car, simple things like going to school, interviewing for jobs and even going to see a movie with friends would have been a massive ordeal. I eventually traded that old Mercury in on the first new car I ever bought at a dealership, with my parents' blessing and, as you might have guessed, my dad's co-signature. While I know not everyone's automotive journey began this way, I'm certain that my story is not actually mine alone. That's why this new ad from Subaru pulls at so many heartstrings – a father cleans out his old Forester, finding keepsakes and nearly-forgotten memories along the way, as he prepares to pass it on to his 16-year-old daughter. Check out the video above, and feel free to share your own hand-me-down stories in Comments. News Source: Subaru via YouTube, Adweek Marketing/Advertising Subaru Ownership Crossover Videos first car

Subaru looks back on record-setting WRX STI from 2011 Isle of Man

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

In what we can only presume/hope is a precursor to the launch of the next-gen WRX STI, Subaru has released three videos now giving us a look back at the history of the STI-badged WRX models. In this third video, Dominick Infante, national manager of product communications at Subaru of America, got ahold of the automaker's 2011 WRX STI that broke records for the Isle of Man TT Challenge a couple of years ago.
In 2011, rally driver Mark Higgins piloted this car to a lap speed record of 115 miles per hour and a lap time record of 19:56.7 around the 37.8-mile course. The race-prepped STI, which Infante refers to as an "STI on steroids," features a beefed-up suspension, a wonderful-sounding open exhaust and the removal of the speed limiter to go with full roll cage and racing seats and harnesses.
Scroll down to see - and hear - new driving footage of this 2011 WRX STI with Infante behind the wheel as well as some race footage from 2011 - including a near-disaster Higgins averted at 150 mph. Also, be sure to check out the previous videos from Subaru for the 1998 Impreza 22B STI and a 2004 WRX STI.

Ward's reveals annual 10 Best Engines list for 2013

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

Ward's Auto has released its annual 10 Best Engines award winners. The 2013 list covers the full width and breadth of the internal combustion spectrum, from a spate of efficient four-cylinders to the most powerful production V8 on the planet. As always, the entries must be available in a production vehicle in the first quarter of 2013 with an MSRP of less than $55,000. The supercharged 3.0-liter V6 from the Audi S5 held on for the fourth consecutive year, and BMW earned two spots on the list with its turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder and turbo 3.0-liter inline-six.
Ford pulled in two awards for its 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and and the supercharged 5.8-liter V8 from the Shelby GT500. Honda matched BMW and Ford with two wins of its own. Wards awarded the 2.4-liter four-cylinder from the Honda Accord Sport as well as the 3.5-liter V6 from the Honda Accord. Chrysler, General Motors and Subaru each garnered a spot on the list as well for the 3.6-liter V6 in the Ram 1500, the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the Cadillac ATS and the 2.0-liter four-cylinder the Subaru BRZ, respectively. You can read the full press release below for more information.
