2002 Subaru Outback 5-Speed 152k miles
The bad news first: -Needs timing belt ASAP. -Uses a lot of oil, about a quart every 400-600 miles. The problem is probably a leaking valve guide and/or valve seal as sometimes it makes a big white cloud of smoke after it sits overnight. -Has several dents. -The back hatch doesn't quite seal at the bottom left. -Passenger side view mirror is cracked. -Check engine light is off! -New Subaru OEM catalytic converter about 3 years ago. -Michelin all-weather tires have about 70% tread left -Everything that has a switch or a button works. Reserve is at $2125. I will consider lower offers if you have cash. I'm in between Boulder and Nederland if you want to come check it out after work. Feel free to ask me any questions. I will ship it, but the buyer must make all arrangements; I don't know the first thing about shipping cars. Thanks for your interest! |

Subaru Viziv Evolution Concept looks strangely familiar
Thu, 21 Nov 2013The Tokyo Motor Show has proven to be far deeper and more interesting in 2013 than it has been in recent years, surely a trailing indicator of the revived auto industry in Japan and throughout the world. Still, we have seen a few concept cars that have been nearly 'recycled' from shows earlier in the season.
This Subaru Viziv Evolution concept is a case in point - it looks not unlike the Viziv Concept that the company hauled over to the Geneva Motor Show in March of this year. What gives?
Well, the original Viziv wrapped its sexy crossover-coupe bodywork around a powertrain composed of a 2.0-liter diesel engine and three electric motors, two of which powered the two rear wheels (another trendy hybrid setup). This new "Evolution" of the Viziv is not dissimilar from its progenitor, swapping in a small displacement gasoline-powered engine for the diesel unit. All of this is based on reports out of Tokyo, mind you, as official information on the car is scarce at the moment.
Toyota, Honda, Nissan and more collaborating to increase fuel efficiency
Sun, 25 May 2014Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Daihatsu have announced an alliance that will see a push to improve fuel economy from both gas-powered and diesel-powered engines by as much as 30 percent before the end of the decade.
The newly assembled Research Association of Automotive Internal Combustion Engines put the roughly $20-million project together, with the Japanese government committing to half the cost while the eight manufacturers will chip in the rest.
According to Automotive News, the automakers will team up and share basic research on internal-combustion engines in a bid to cut costs. Eventually, the results of the research will find its way into a production vehicle, although it's unclear just when we'll see the fruits of this partnership on the road.
