2008 Subaru Legacy Elite on 2040-cars
Pearl River, New York, United States
I am the original owner, the reason why Im starting at a low bid, Im retireing soon and need to get rid of some stuff. This Subaru Legacy Elite would normally go for $6900 in good condition according to Kelly B B, and Edmunds. If your not familiar with the Elite model it's because they were special made it wasnt standard, it came with a sun roof, leather interior, and some other interior niceities, I've included a interior picture shot. This cars has only problem - it has a leaking head gasket as many Subaru models often do. It is an external head gasket leak (meaning oil is leaking out on top of the engine and you will occasionally get an oil burning smell from the engine compartment). Not a big problem as long as you keep up with your oil changes and check your dipstick weekly keeping oil in the engine). If your mechanically inclined change the head gaskets, or have a shop do it ( dont use Subaru gaskets they still sell inferior ones). Again it is very reliable starts right away, and runs smooth. Recent new wires and plugs. Recent 2 new tires on front, rears are not new but have plenty of tread. New Battery. Recent front axle boots replaced. And timeing belt was done at approx 80,000 miles, car has 156,060 miles on it all Highway, it gets 28 to 32 MPG's around town and highway combined. Let me perfectly clear I have a lien on this vehicle, I cannot release it to your possesion till your method of payment clears and I pay off my loan. It's useually a 3 day process, I get lein satisfaction, and you take that with the title to register in your name. |

Junkyard Gem: 1992 Subaru SVX
Wed, Jul 20 2016Subaru is doing quite well these days with its formula of selling a combination of sensible pavement-optional commuters and rally-inspired performance cars, but go back a quarter-century or so and many of the cars with the Pleiades badges were known more for futuristic jet-fighter-style cockpits and weird gadgetry. This philosophy reached its peak with the brilliant, bizarre Subaru SVX, sold in North America for the 1992 through 1995 model years. Here's a well-preserved purple SVX I spotted a few days ago in a Denver self-service yard. Just look at the side glass! It's impossible to not love the way this car looks. The design of the SVX's exterior was the creation of Giorgetto Giugiaro. The SVX had a DOHC flat-six displacing 3.3 liters, the largest street engine Subaru had built up to that point. It made 231 horsepower, which was respectable for the era. Unfortunately, Subaru didn't have a manual transmission that could handle that kind of engine power, so every SVX came with a four-speed automatic... which (in addition to being way less fun than a manual) also couldn't handle the EG33's output. For this reason, you see SVXs in fairly decent condition at junkyards all the time; a good-running, clean example is worth good money, but one with a bad transmission is worth its weight in scrap. Subaru Viziv 2 presages Tribeca replacement with diesel hybrid tech
Mon, 31 Mar 2014Subaru is in the middle of a new product bonanza. It has recent replacements for the Impreza and Forester at dealers, and soon we're getting the WRX, Legacy and if rumors are right the new Outback as well. Now, there are rumblings that there could be two more models from the Japanese brand on the way with styling inspired by the Viziv 2 concept from the Geneva Motor Show.
According to a company insider speaking with Motor Trend, the crossover concept shows the way for the brand's future design language. The shape would be used on a smaller CUV that is still being kept quite secret, and a second, larger one that would replace the recently axed Tribeca. The bigger model is the first priority and is planned as a new technology showcase.
It's rumored to use a turbodiesel, four-cylinder boxer engine that would be boosted with one electric motor on the front axle and two at the rear, with a plug-in hybrid system sourced from Toyota. It should provide a great mix of torque and fuel economy. A smaller flat-six engine would be a second powertrain option. Though the Viziv 2 concept only seats four, the production version would probably offer three rows.
Subaru revisits 1998 Impreza 22B STI
Thu, 05 Dec 2013It was 1998 when Subaru made some crucial changes to its World Rally Championship Impreza, such as increasing the displacement of the turbocharged flat-four-cylinder engine from 2.0 to 2.2 liters and fitting wide fender flares. Subaru won the WRC manufacturer championship with the car that year, and it also was the year of the automaker's 40th anniversary. To celebrate the milestone, the company came out with this limited-edition, road-going Impreza, the hallowed 22B STI, which looked nearly identical to the rally car.
Only 424 22Bs were built, and most of them stayed in Japan. But Dominick Infante, national manager of product communications at Subaru of America, was able to secure a drive in one of the only two 22Bs in the US. He details the car's history and some of the design and engineering cues that made the Impreza STI so popular both in motorsport and on the street, but we were caught up listening to the exhaust and admiring the timeless blue-and-gold paint. You should too, so head below to watch the video.
