Chatham, Massachusetts, United States

Very clean 2004 Subaru Legacy L. Interior is 9 out of 10. Just removed all seats and shampooed the carpets and seats. Exterior has a few minor scratches but nothing major.

I just did the clutch, pressure plate, resurfaced the flywheel, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing. While the motor was out i did the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and all pulleys. New upper and lower hoses and air filter.

The head gaskets were done about 20k ago at dealer, new catalytic convertors around the same time. New tires, brand new rear brakes, fronts are fine. new mid pipe and muffler assembly. Very little rust underneath and none on body.

only two issues with the car are that the radio only works sometimes, and the wipers stop midway sometimes. Both of which i am willing to take care of if its a deal breaker.

there are two trim pieces missing in front of the rear wheel wells. i have one side, found the other for cheap.

This is a perfect first car or a student headed to college. All wheel drive, safe, quick, and fun to drive. I have had many subarus and they are extremely reliable. my current one is 15 years old, has 260k on it and runs like a top.

email with more questions. open to all reasonable, again, REASONABLE offers.

open to trades as well. vw bus, tacoma, motorcycle, etc

Should Subaru stay niche or go mainstream? [w/poll]

    Sun, 11 Aug 2013

Out of all the automakers doing business in the US, Subaru is the one that has carved out the most interesting niche for itself in the minds and lifestyles of buyers. Outdoorsy types, dog lovers and active families alike flock to Subaru's rugged nature and all-wheel-drive utility - and they're fiercely loyal, which is probably why Subaru has become a success story.
But Subaru is still a relatively small player in the US market, and with recent profits surging, parent company Fuji Heavy Industries is facing a dilemma: continue on with the successful niche market Subaru has carved out for itself, or attempt to go mainstream and give big players like Nissan and Toyota a run for their money. According to Carscoop, Japan Times and Bloomberg News are reporting that Fuji Heavy is beginning discussions this month to determine which direction Subaru will take.

Hi-po Toyota GT86 to get KERS?

    Fri, 09 Nov 2012

We happen to like the Toyota GT86 - and, it of course goes without saying that the same applies to the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S, as well - just the way it is. Yes, that includes the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine and its 200 horsepower at 7,000 rpm.
That said, a little extra power never hurt anybody, right?
The most obvious way to add some punch to the GT86 would be with a turbocharger, and that has indeed long been rumored for an STI version of the BRZ. Will Toyota follow suit? According to Top Gear, the answer is no. Says GT86 chief engineer Tetsuya Tada, "I think 300bhp with a turbo and 200g/km of CO2 would be tasteless in this day and age. And a turbo would mean the loss of the GT86's uniqueness." Perhaps a bit harsh, but there you go.

You can buy the last Subaru rally car driven by Colin McRae

    Sun, Feb 14 2016

Colin McRae continued entertaining the fans for years after retiring from competing full-time in the World Rally Championship – though sadly not for enough of them. His last public appearance was at the 2007 Goodwood Festival of Speed, driving the car you see here to the crowd's delight. And now it could be yours. Though it may look mostly like any ordinary Subaru Impreza WRX STI, this is a full-on S12B rally machine. Petter Solberg drove it for the factory Subaru World Rally Team throughout most of the 2007 World Rally Championship, scoring two podium finishes. That would make it desirable enough as it is, but then McRae drove it up Lord March's front lawn (see the video below) to cement its place in history. It was the last time McRae drove in public before he died in a helicopter crash near his home in Scotland just months later. The vehicle has since been stripped down to its shell and completely rebuilt to showroom condition. It has only put on a little over 200 miles since the engine was rebuilt, and the clutch was replaced just 50 miles ago. It has new seats and harnesses, fire extinguishers, brake discs and pads, the suspension has been fully rebuilt, the wheels powder-coated afresh.... top-notch, in other words. C&M Motors out of Omagh, Northern Ireland, has it listed on RallySales.com with an asking price of GBP159,500 – equivalent to just over $230k at current exchange rates. That would put it in contention as one of the most expensive Subarus we've ever seen, rivaling the $238k which Sports Car Market records as having been paid for another ex-McRae Impreza just this past October.
