Up for auction is a 2000 Subaru Legacy Outback that I bought for my wife a year and a half ago till we could get her a van. She liked the little car so much, she didn't want to sell it but we have a large family and we need a larger vehicle. I purchased the car in Florida and had to replace the starter, since then I have replaced the spark plugs and changed the oil regularly with Castrol synthetic oil. The car has always run fine, I have never had a dash light on, it has always passed emissions without a problem, it has just been a very reliable car for us. It has a matched set of Michelin tires, as you can see from the pictures they still have good tread. All the power windows work, the AC works. The things I would like to make note of is that the windshield has a crack in it and has been there since I've owned it. The dash on the passengers side, someone peeled the vinyl off for some reason and the previous owner had a DVD player in the radio slot so he cut a little bit of the dash out when he installed it, but he replaced the original AM/FM cassette back in the car when I bought it and it works fine. These are all cosmetic features, they don't impair the dependability of the vehicle. As I stated I bought it in Florida and it has no rust on the body or chassie. There are some dings and scratches but it look pretty good for a 13 year old vehicle. But most importantly it has always started and been a stable vehicle for us. It has a 2.5 L engine, it does not smoke or leak oil. If you remove the oil cap when it is running you are not showered with oil droplets or engulfed with smoke from the crankcase which is always a good sign.  I know of nothing that the car needs mechanically other than the cosmetic issues. With that being said, let me state clearly that you are buying a used vehicle and I can not sell it with any type of warranty. We strive to maintain a 100% feedback score, regardless of the item we sell, I am not selling you a vehicle that I don't know, have not worked on and driven, I am not selling it to get rid of a problem, the Subaru gets great gas mileage and I would not hesitate to head anywhere in it. We just simply need a larger vehicle. If you have any questions please feel free to email me and I will do my best to answer as promptly as I can. If you have any hesitation about buying the car please contact me before bidding. If you have less than a 5 feedback score, would you please email me before you bid. This is a good economical car that I am going to place a very reasonable reserve on, I don't believe you will have any surprises, but once again let me state that I am selling the car "as is". If you need the car shipped I will be glad to meet the shipping company locally but you must make the arrangements. If you live within 100 miles of my zip code, 30043, I will be glad to deliver the car for you. I will do my best to help you with this transaction in any way I can. Thanks for looking, have a nice day.

This Subaru BRZ has a snowmobile engine and gets 104 mpg

Wed, Apr 20 2016

A hybrid powertrain didn't win the Honda CR-Z numerous fans, but it might be the magic ingredient in making the Subaru BRZ more potent. This is the "Car of the Future" as envisioned by Mississippi State University's Center of Advanced Vehicular Systems – the result of a two-year project, which married a front-mounted 850 cc snowmobile engine with two electric motors powering the rear wheels. The battery pack accounts for 12.7 kWh, which enables the car to go 50 miles on just electric juice. The two-liter boxer engine is no more, but what the car loses in cubic inches it gains in MPG. According to MSU engineers, the re-engineered car gets 104 mpg equivalent, and it only weighs 2,904 lbs: about 60 lbs more than an unmodified Sportshift BRZ. It clocks a 0-60 mph run at around 5.7 seconds, too, which beats a stock automatic BRZ by a second. The electric brain of the car improves the range by calculating optimizing algorithms, based on earlier driving. The guys from MSU's Bagley College of Engineering call this Predictive Engine Control. The most likable thing about this project might be that it's still clothed in a sports car body. Future-proof car designs are often focused on mobility instead of the driver, and choosing a BRZ as the basis shows how there's still room for petrolheads in the future.

2016 Subaru BRZ Series.HyperBlue Quick Spin

Wed, Dec 2 2015

On its own, there's not much to "review" about the Subaru BRZ's new Series.HyperBlue trim. Limited to just 500 units, the coupe wears a new shade of blue, its 17-inch wheels and exterior badges are painted black, and inside, the HyperBlue color carries over to the accent stitching and logos on the seats. I love – no, love – this color. If you're a fan of the BRZ, like cool blues, and are thinking of picking up a 2016 model year example, this is the one to get. Plus, this car doesn't have all that bolted-on visual stuff from last year's Series.Blue. HyperBlue aside, it's the same BRZ it's always been. Yes, Subaru's updated Starlink infotainment system is now available, and there's a frameless rearview mirror inside the cabin. That's about it in terms of 2016 model year updates. But it's still worth revisiting. I've driven the BRZ at home in Detroit, and it's lovely. It's got a great chassis, it uses rear-wheel drive, and it's powerful enough to have lots of fun at legal speeds. (Seriously, why does everyone keep complaining about "only" 200 horsepower? That's plenty for this lightweight.) But until now, I've never had the chance to experience this coupe on a truly great road. So during a recent trip to southern California, I took a jaunt out to Angeles Crest Highway for a day of HyperBlue antics. On the right road, this car is even more charming than I remember. Driving Notes I think the reason why some people complain about a supposed lack of power is because they aren't driving it correctly. Peak horsepower arrives at 7,000 rpm, and the full 151 pound-feet of torque is delivered at 6,400 rpm. So for spirited driving, don't even bother revving below 3,500 rpm. No, it's not the best sounding engine (what naturally aspirated flat-four is?), but don't let the noise fool you. Keep the 2.0-liter boxer on boil, and you'll find salvation in this 200-hp mill. To me, the BRZ's steering feel is second only to the Mazda Miata. The car's lightness is accurately communicated through the wheel, but it's direct, nicely weighted, and never void of feedback. Combined with a firm, balanced chassis, you get a great sense of what all four wheels are doing at any given time. Grip level and weight distribution is easy to sense while cornering, making it easier to push the car harder and harder. The tail steps out a smidge, and you know exactly how much corrective input to give. I love a car that works so seamlessly with the driver.

Toyota and Subaru file patents for performance FR-S and BRZ

Wed, Nov 11 2015

People have longed for a more powerful version of the Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S, and Toyota GT86 since the triplets arrived on the market. So far, neither partner in the deal has launched a model to fully satiate that hunger. However, the Japanese patent office recently approved documents from Toyota for the design of a vehicle that looks just like the Subaru STI Performance Concept (pictured above). According to AutoGuide, the filing also gives Fuji Heavy Industries credit for the design. The STI Performance Concept debuted at this year's New York Auto Show as an early step in STI's attempt to expand its reach here. The BRZ-derived coupe featured a body with a ground-scraping front bumper, tweaked headlights, wider fenders, a massive rear wing, and diffuser with a center-exit exhaust. All of these elements also show up on the patent renderings. The concept was just as exciting under the hood because STI installed a 2.0-liter, turbocharged boxer four-cylinder from its GT300 racer, and upgrades for the chassis, suspension, and brakes came from the Japanese market's BRZ tS. While the coupe made hearts race, the company was clear it didn't necessarily plan to build the model. Patent filings aren't a guarantee for production, and even if this one does arrive in showrooms, it might not come to the US. That's because Subaru and Toyota have a history of creating Japan-exclusive versions like the tS or Style Cb. That being said, spy shots have revealed a camouflaged GT86 testing in Europe, and rumors indicate more power from the engine. Subie's boss has even confirmed the existence of a partnership to create a next-gen model. Related Video:
