1998 Subaru Legacy Limited Outback, 2.5,automatic on 2040-cars
Monroe, New York, United States
Here is a great Subaru that’s been loved by ONE family (3 owners). Used for our summer and winter house commutes along with some work commutes (all highway) It’s been great to us but we need a newer addition to our Subaru collection. Even though we are told this one will last forever with some work-we are just not willing. **We have included as many details as possible so everything is on the table for you.
These are the issues and recommendations from the Subaru guys and our regular mechanics that we just don’t want to invest in the labor costs right now. *We replaced the rear differential 9 months ago, but there is still some occasional noise in rear (possible cv joints?). * Right front axle replaced about 8 months ago *Car is recently mis-firing a bit (oil leak) *There was exhaust noise a few months ago so I had it welded (temporarily). I assume it will need another weld (or self tapping screws?) or simply replaced because noise is back. *Will need tires *Needs tune up *Valve cover gaskets (with other maintenance recommendations, see below in ad) *Possible tie rods .*There are small dings here and there and cosmetic wear with age. The biggest dings were made about 10 yrs ago by trying to park in between two cars in a parking lot as one car was pulling out. Damage was on front of driver side door (SEE PIC). NO body work was ever done on car …which is pretty obvious ;) Frame is fine. *It's almost time for the 105k mile timing belt change-so it was suggested (by friends that had it done) to get the gaskets done for the leak and ask the mechanic to do timing belt and other maintenance while engine is out of car to save a ton of money on labor costs. *There are some wires hanging under the driver side dashboard which is an easy fix to push up that we just haven’t bothered with because it’s basically a cosmetic issue that isn’t ever seen.. *Car runs pretty darn good on the highway, I am sure it would make a decent trip home with you, but no guarantees for an extremely long drive before you tie the exhaust up again. I haven’t taken it very far these days. *Interior is in good -clean shape, new mats great radio/cd system, keyless alarm -which I have currently disabled (but can be enabled) *Power window locks and windows . **SOMETIMES THE DRIVER DOOR POWER LOCK GETS STUCK. We rarely lock our doors where we live but I just manually lock from inside when I need to. *ABS *AWD *Dual airbags *Great on gas! *Clean title and carfax!
Please read this all thoroughly and ask ALL questions and for more pics if needed BEFORE bidding. Car is sold AS IS -WHERE IT IS. Buyer is responsible for ALL aspects of transport. Car has always been smoke and pet free. A NON REFUNDABLE DOWN PAYMENT OF $400 is due within 24 hours of winning bid via paypal. Thanks for looking! |

2015 Subaru Outback
Wed, 22 Oct 2014Realistically, many enthusiasts give horrible, horrible car buying advice. They will recommend something bizarre, inappropriately high performance, compromised or utterly impractical for a given consumer's needs, and they'll almost never recommend something that makes sense. And then they'll come up with 3.7 million reasons why the leading vehicle someone is thinking about is a bad choice.
Or maybe that's just what I do.
Regardless, if you poke, prod, bother or just get us drunk enough, eventually you'll begin getting honest feedback. And more than likely, we'll tell you, in hushed tones, about the many virtues of very, very boring cars. We'll talk about why the Toyota Camry is actually a pretty decent purchase or we'll explain how spacious and feature laden the Nissan Versa is.
Subaru to showcase five customized Levorg concepts at Tokyo Auto Salon
Sun, 22 Dec 2013Last month, Subaru unveiled the Levorg concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, previewing what could be the next Legacy wagon. But that's not the end of the story for the concept car.
With the Tokyo Auto Salon - Japan's equivalent to SEMA - approaching next month, Fuji Heavy has announced five customized versions of the Levorg. One is being prepared by Subaru itself with a focus on luxury (including new alloy wheels and a burgundy interior), one by Subaru Tecnica International (with strut brace and aero kit) and one each by aftermarket Subaru tuners Corazon, Syms and Prova.
Subaru will also display a pair of racecars based on the BRZ: the Super GT300 version we've already seen and a new STI NBR Challenge racer aimed at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Details in the press release below.
Subaru ending Tribeca production in January?
Fri, 18 Oct 2013The writing has been on the wall for some time, but it seems that Subaru is finally pulling the lever on the guillotine to put the midsize Tribeca crossover out of its misery. Jalopnik has what appears to be a communication from Subaru to its dealers announcing that the final Tribeca will roll off the Lafayette, IN assembly line in January, with the last dealer delivery expected to occur the following month.
The last report we heard regarding the Tribeca said that Subaru could be planning a fullsize, three-row crossover, possibly to compete against the Nissan Pathfinder and Ford Explorer. Dropping the Tribeca would leave the automaker without a three-row crossover for the foreseeable future, but according to the memo, Subaru has sold just 78,000 Tribecas since 2005 making it one of the worst-selling vehicles in the US in 2011 and 2012 - for comparison, the automaker has already found 84,372 customers for its new Forester this year (through September) alone.
We have reached out to Subaru for comment on the Tribeca's passing, but have yet to hear back as of this writing. Stay tuned for an update, when and if we get word.
