1997 Subaru Legacy Gt Right Hand Drive Twin Turbo Gt Sti Wrx Swapped Gtb Rhd on 2040-cars
Lee, Massachusetts, United States
1997 Subaru Legacy GT 19X.XXX on the odometer (120,000 miles roughly) 5MT Right Hand Drive For sale is my highly modified Subaru Legacy GT. It has been converted to RHD and swapped with a JDM twin-turbo GT-B motor by ECS performance located in Windsor Locks, CT. This has been a blast to own and surely turns heads wherever it goes. The modifications are as stated below. Modifications EJ20R twin-turbo engine (rebuild 20k ago with new piston rings and brearings)(Factory forged engine has lots of piston slap) RHD firewall conversion Full harness and dash swap from a 97 GT-B legacy Walbro fuel pump K&N drop-in filter GT-B 4.44 5-speed transmission with RA MLSD rear differential 04 Forester XT F+R brakes Fujitsubu axleback exhaust GT-B front bumper GT-B fenders GT-B headlights GT-B hood GT-B front grill Version 3/4 STi seats GT-B rear seats and door cards 02-04 WRX stock alloys JDM front aero guards GT-B replica lip Rear bumper lip Aftermarket spoiler Coilovers This car has been on ECS’s mustang dyno where it put down 240whp/202wtq on its stock setup. I’ve loved this car for a couple of years now and it’s time to move on and find it a new owner. I have done some work to it since its purchase. The heater core was replaced a year ago. The “magic box” where are the vacuum lines are housed was gone through and all lines were replaced. This car had the usual Subaru rust in the rear quarters that was repaired. I replaced the A/C condenser as well. This is a quick car with a sunroof, functional A/C, and rides surprisingly well for being on coilovers. THIS IS A OBD1 ENGINE SWAP INTO A OBD2 CAR, THEREFOR REG/INSPECTION IT IN SOME STATES MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE AS IT DOES NOT HAVE A WORKING OBD2 PORT, IN MASS 15 YEARS OR OLDER IS SAFTEY ONLY SO I HAD NO ISSUES, WITH THE MODS THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD IS IS AS A "TRACK" CAR THAT COMES WITH A CLEAN TITLE IF YOU CHOOSE TO GET IT ON THE ROAD!!!! The bad, throw-out or pilot bearing makes minor noise in netural with clutch out, has done this for years and has not gotten any worse, also some rust is starting under the rockers that could use some attention in the future, I drive the regular and I trust it is a solid car, just to many projects this has to move on, I would pefer a local sale so they can see the car before getting it , but I would assist a shipper load it if it was all scheduled by the buyer. this is quite the car so if you have any questions feel free to email me I can give ya a call and discuss the car with ya further !! |

Subaru says Forester logs 8,000 JDM orders in first month, 4x expectations
Fri, 21 Dec 2012The 2014 Subaru Forester is not on sale yet here in the US, but it has been on sale in Japan since the middle of last month. In that time, Subaru says that the 8,149 customer orders it has received have more than quadrupled the original expectation of just 2,000 units.
To go along with these impressive orders so far, Subaru has also provided a breakdown of exactly what initial customers are ordering, and based on the numbers provided, it would appear that early customers are choosing well-equipped models. This includes almost 90 percent of all models being ordered with the new Subaru EyeSight system, and while close to two-thirds of the Forester models are equipped with the base 2.0-liter engine, the turbocharged Forester 2.0XT is the most popular individual trim level accounting for almost 40 percent of the orders out of four available trim levels. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues as more Foresters hit dealers, but this is definitely a good sign for the compact crossover right out of the gate.
There's a brief press release after the jump that gives a full breakdown of customer orders so far in Japan.
Xcar rates AWD vs. FWD vs. RWD
Tue, Feb 24 2015With snow and ice blanketing large swathes of the United States over the past few weeks, commuting hasn't been easy. Among some drivers, there's an ongoing debate about how much all-wheel drive really helps when it gets slippery and whether rear-drive is as bad in slick conditions as many people think. Xcar Films puts some of those beliefs to the test in its latest video by showing off three very different cars taking on a trio of low-grip challenges. Xcar's picks for the test include the fairly plebeian, all-wheel drive Subaru Impreza, the somewhat plush, rear-drive BMW 120d and the sporty, front-drive Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy. Things start out easy with a hydraulic plate forcing the back end out on a wet skid pad. From there, the tests get really interesting with a slalom on simulated ice, and the cars finish with a high-speed cornering challenge through a soaked turn. While an obvious winner emerges in the end, keep in mind this is hardly a scientific test of grip. For better accuracy, all three vehicles should be wearing identical tires, and the same driver should be behind the wheel of each one. Still, Xcar's examination is a fun chance to see how vehicles react when things get slick. Subaru revisits 1998 Impreza 22B STI
Thu, 05 Dec 2013It was 1998 when Subaru made some crucial changes to its World Rally Championship Impreza, such as increasing the displacement of the turbocharged flat-four-cylinder engine from 2.0 to 2.2 liters and fitting wide fender flares. Subaru won the WRC manufacturer championship with the car that year, and it also was the year of the automaker's 40th anniversary. To celebrate the milestone, the company came out with this limited-edition, road-going Impreza, the hallowed 22B STI, which looked nearly identical to the rally car.
Only 424 22Bs were built, and most of them stayed in Japan. But Dominick Infante, national manager of product communications at Subaru of America, was able to secure a drive in one of the only two 22Bs in the US. He details the car's history and some of the design and engineering cues that made the Impreza STI so popular both in motorsport and on the street, but we were caught up listening to the exhaust and admiring the timeless blue-and-gold paint. You should too, so head below to watch the video.
