For Sale: 2011 Subaru STI GRB Sedan with over 100K invested
VIN: Private message
Miles: 14,190 on the body, a little more than 7,000 on the build
Price: First $42,000 takes everything. That's right, you could make money parting it out if you have the time, but I got a baby on the way, and I need to sell her. I've been offered 32 31 and 27 by dealerships locally.

I have owned this car since 50 miles, I know everything about it, and I was there during every transformation, upgrade, mod, show, etc. I am the driver and the person responsible for the complete build coordination therefore I can explain the fabrication, installation, suspension alignment, motor build process, balancing, parts purchases, whatever you want to know about it, I can tell you. Please ask specific questions with regard to something you want to know, if you ask me to itemize every little thing, I will kindly refer you to Rallysport Direct or Full-Race's website orVividRacing.com to look at prices, The cost of this car was 37,500 when I bought it from the SOLON AUTO Dealership in Pueblo Colorado in August 2011. The cost of parts has been well over $50,000 alone and I'm not including the cost for dyno time, tuning, any installation, fabrication, etc, therefore I have estimated that over $100,000 has been invested.

includes both sets of wheels
19" Advan RZ's Gunmetal with Nitto Invo's AND

Brand new 19" VOLK TE37 Tokyo Time Attack Diamond Cut with Brand new Advan Neova tires

three sets of suspension, currently installed is Air Lift Performance Air ride, but will include OEM Struts and coils, as well as the suspension used in most of the photographs which is Tein Flex Coilovers

My heart and soul went into making this car what it is. I have spent so much time and money making my car what it is that it is hard to imagine life without her. Unfortunately, my family needs me more than my car and I'm hoping that another Enthusiast can enjoy what I've been blessed with putting together. This is a turn key, completed project, take it to the track, next big show, or drive it to work like I did, all in the same day. My STI has won 2nd place at SPOCOM 2012 and 3rd place at SPOCOM 2013 Hawaii. Various magazines have also requested to feature it, I can discuss that with potential buyers. Also if you have a question about a part, please feel free to ask, I will answer you, and I can take a picture if you need to see something specific, it's not a problem and I'm glad to help anybody considering this purchase with evidence of the high quality and pride I have taken building this outstanding machine. There is so much I may have missed something when I wrote up the description, but I do keep receipts and all of the parts have been purchased from Reputable dealers like Full Race and RallysportDirect so you can verify the cost on your own. Some of the items, like the HKS Exhaust which I bought from RSD for almost $2,000 I have never seen again. So I will make sure that the receipts are retained for the next buyer so they can have the same confidence in the quality of everything that I have. Jarrad from PDX did all of my tuning, the car has spent about 3 and a half hours combined on 3 separate occasions to get the tuning where it is right now. Before switching to E85 when I got back to california, I was running premium pump gas and with about 23lbs of boost at peak, over boost was set for 24 on the eboost2 and I was hitting a solid 478 awhp, and 410 awtq, this was prior to the most recent charge piping my friend and I designed and tigged up. I really just need to sell her now for medical reasons and I'm at that point where I may have to accept the high offer from a local dealership because I'm in a tough spot. I never thought I would let her go for less than 60k, but here I am ready to take about half of that, there is no catch, nothing is broken and even if it was, I could build an engine for a lot less than this is costing me in the long run, feel free to do a compression check or whatever but I need a serious offer in the next day or so or the stealership is gonna rape me. Also, I've got most of the receipts for the parts, and if I don't RallySportDirect, Jarrad, and Geoff at Full Race can vouch for my legitimacy. If I was looking at this I would think it's to good to be true and something must be wrong, but it's completely the opposite.

Subaru takes another look back, this time at the 2004 WRX STI

Sat, 21 Dec 2013

Here we have the followup to the rally-mimicking Impreza 22B STI that Subaru recently chronicled in its Vintage Garage series: the 2004 Impreza WRX STI. Displacement for the boxer four was upped from 2.2 liters to 2.5, and after noticing how many buyers had installed larger turbochargers on their WRXs, Subaru decided to bolt on one in-house. That gave the final product 300 horsepower and a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour run of just 4.6 seconds.
It was stiffer, it's body from nose to front doors was penned by Peter Stephens, he of the McLaren F1, it came with a driver-controlled center differential, driver-activated cooling spray for the turbos and 300 pound-feet of torque. This is a curio from a time when, after a new WRX STI came out, you started poring through magazines to see how the Mitubishi Evo was going to respond. You can find out more about it in the video below.

Subaru issues recall over cars that may start themselves

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Subaru has issued one of the strangest recalls we've come across in some time. As it turns out, certain Subaru models may randomly start their own engines. The issue is confined to select models equipped with an automatic or CVT and the company's optional Audiovox remote engine starter (RES) accessory. If the RES key fob is dropped, it could "randomly transmit an engine start request without pressing the button."
Vehicles affected include the 2010-2012 Legacy and Outback with an automatic or CVT, 2012-2013 Impreza with the CVT, and 2013 XV Crosstrek with CVT (shown), all equipped with the Audiovox RES accessory. Likewise, certain 2013 Legacy and Outbacks may have received replacement RES fobs that could be affected. All told, 47,419 vehicles are included in the recall.
Should one of these cars start on their own, Subaru says they will run up to 15 minutes, but the vehicle may also continue to start and stop until either the battery in the fob dies or the car runs out of fuel. Of course, if one of these cars is parked in an enclosed area, that means harmful gasses could build up, which could be dangerous if inhaled.

Watch Higgins' mind-blowing Subaru WRX STI Isle of Man record lap in first-person

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

Have you gotten sick of Subaru and the Isle of Man? Good, we'd hope not, because of all the videos we've posted so far, today's is the crown jewel. In-car, around the notoriously treacherous race track, with commentary from David Higgins himself.
It gets better, though. Overlaid with the video is the same biometric data that we showed you last week. The result is a heart-pumping, 22-minute video of the record-breaking sprint around the entirety of the Isle of Man TT circuit at a truly wild pace. Higgins commentary, meanwhile, simply adds to the experience of hurtling across the landscape. Subaru has also put together a second video, highlighting the WRX STI that was used in the lap.
You can view both of those videos, as well as a short press release from Subaru, below. Scroll down and take a look.
