So you like rally racing, huh? Well so do we. We like it so much, in fact, that we asked professional rally racer David Higgins to take us for a spin in his #75 Dirtfish Subaru Impreza STI. Lucky for us, he happily obliged! If you thought rally racing looked thrilling on TV, just wait until you've experienced it with a 360-degree field of view. While zipping around the track at the Port of Los Angeles, David lets us in on some of the specs of his car, which can hit 60 mph in an astonishing 1.9 seconds. Although the car has the ability to "easily hit 130 [or] 140," according to David, the real focus on its 0-100 mph acceleration, as that's where the action happens in rally racing. Subaru recalls 3k Legacy and Outback models for fluid leak

Subaru is recalling 2,893 examples of the 2015-2016 Legacy and Outback because of a potential transmission fluid leak on the two models. The affected vehicles carry build dates between July 3 and July 25, 2015 for the Legacy, and until July 27 on the Outback. According to a Subaru document posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), during production, the seal cap in the propeller shaft yoke may have been deformed. This could cause a transmission fluid leak, and "there is a possible risk of fire" if the liquid drips onto the exhaust, the report says. Dealers will replace the entire prop shaft on these models, and repairs will start on August 28. New examples will carry a stop-sale until fixed. Toyota GT86 engineer Tada recounts how sports car came to be

Because the Toyota GT86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ coupes are now a reality, it's almost hard to imagine the struggle that had to happen within the large, conservative corporate structures at both automakers for the joint project to even get off of the ground.
Speaking to those struggles on Toyota UK's Toyota Blog, GT86 Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada enlightens us with a recap of the sports car's earliest origins. For Tada, the first stages of the project must have seemed almost as dreamlike as the final product is to drive.
Said the Chief, "I had been working in the minivan department engineering new product, but a month after the meeting I was summoned. 'Forget about minivans,' they said, 'you are now working on the sports-car project.'"
