This was my wife’s car which we purchased new.  As an Outback Sport model of the Impreza this car is very well equipped, a list of major features included in this package is provided below, a couple worth note are the VDC (vehicle dynamics control), heated seats, and in-dash 6 CD changer 80 watt 10 speaker audio system.  This has always been a non-smoking car.  Always garaged. Original window sticker, sales brochure, and all owners’ manuals go with car.

The car has had nothing but 100% synthetic oil once it was broken in.  New front brakes and four new summer tires were installed less than 6,000 miles ago and new rear brakes were installed less than 2,000 miles ago.  A new battery was installed about three years ago.  I have all service records and most receipts.  The car runs and drives perfectly.

The car has never had a major accident; only two parking lot incidents attributable to others, both front corners were professionally repaired from these incidents.  If anything shows up on “Car Facts” it will be one or both of these.  At present there are no dents in the vehicle, only paint chips/scrapes.  I have included some photos of the major chips/scrapes.  Many of the chips are on the plastic body parts and thus have purely cosmetic consequences only.  Of the chips in the metal parts, only one goes to the base metal and that’s a small one on the roof, a photo is included.  The grill in the car is an optional “Sport Grill” that was on the car when we purchased it new.

The interior of the car is very clean.  The front seats have had the seat covers shown in the photos installed since the car was new so the seats under them should be perfect.  The original carpeted floor mats are included with the car, they were never used as we installed optional all weather mats which are still in the car.  The only significant wear noticeable on the interior is on the drivers inside door pull handle which has been scratched by my wife’s rings/jewelry, see photo.  One remote keyless entry transmitter does not work.

The car comes with four mounted and studded Nokian “Hak” snow tires plus mating Subaru hub caps.  These tires and Subaru wheels are 15” and while we have used them without any problems, I make no representations as to their suitability for use on this car as the original wheels and tires are 17”.

The stock roof rack and attachment hardware that came with the car are also included; we removed it as we never used it.

The car is currently registered and insured so I welcome anyone to drive and/or inspect by appointment.  I have a heated shop with floor jack, etc. available.  I’m more than happy to answer any questions or take any requested additional photos.

Car is advertised locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early.

The title is clear and without leans so there will be no issues there.

Payment terms:  A non-refundable deposit of $500 via PayPal will be required from the successful bidder within 48 hours of the close of the auction/sale and prior to arrangement of pickup.  The remainder of the purchase price will be due on or before pickup in the form of cash or certified check.  Payment in full must be made within 7 days of close of auction/sale or buyer forfeits deposit.  Pickup may be arranged within 14 days of sale.

Subaru secures permit to test self-driving car in California

Sat, Feb 11 2017

The list of automakers that can test their self-driving cars in California is getting less and less exclusive by the minute. Its latest addition? Subaru. The Japanese company has secured an Autonomous Vehicle Testing Permit from the state's DMV on February 9th, bringing the total number to 22. Some Subaru models already have assisted driving features thanks to their camera-based Eyesight system, such as adaptive cruise control, sway warning and pre-collision braking. However, the company is developing new capabilities meant to kick in while doing speeds of up to 40 mph, including the ability to auto-start and stop in slow traffic. Subaru also wants to offer lane switching and auto-steering around bends and curves -- semi-autonomous driving capabilities for highways -- by 2020. It's unclear what features Subaru will be testing exactly, and if they're any of these. All that's certain is that it's joining both big-name and little-known companies on California roads, like NVIDIA, Ford, Good and Baidu. Russian videographer nails this real-life 'Need for Speed' recreation

Tue, Jun 25 2019

Aaron Paul and Kid Cudi tried. They really did. They put forth a decent acting effort, played with some incredible replica supercars, and filmed at some remarkable settings. But it's 2019, and 2014's "Need for Speed" sits at a 6.5/10 on IMDB, a 39 on Metacritic, and a 57% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The studio attempt to bring "Need for Speed" to life was lukewarm, so a Russian videographer took a shot at the idea with this impressive digital short. Unearthed by Reddit user, AbuDab1, the clip is the work of Russia-based videographer @Chekunov_v. Clearly a fan of all things fast and fancy, as seen by his Instagram, Chekunov recreated the start screen, the garage with car and mod selection, and the race sequences from the video game. The video starts with an Acura RSX Type-S (labeled as the Integra Type R) with familiar theme music playing in the background. Accompanied by video game sound effects, the spotlight switches between a Toyota Celica, a Toyota Supra and a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. The Supra and Evo are locked, so the user settles on the Celica. He goes on to select mods, including a new spoiler, new wheels and a new color, again to the tune of the proper sound effects, menus and camera views. The car exits the garage and rolls onto the road, where the screen now shows a tachometer and an N2O gauge. The Celica is met with a race challenge, and the car lines up with a Mazda RX-8, an Acura RSX Type-S and a Subaru WRX STI. After a terrible launch, the Celica uses some NOS and takes the victory. Unfortunately, the video is a bit 2 fast, 2 short for our taste. It's well done, has some unique video work, and takes us back into one of our favorite video game series. Maybe this guy can direct the studio sequel.

Hyundai, Genesis, Subaru warn their dealers about markups

Mon, Feb 28 2022

Six weeks ago, word got out that Ford's VP of sales for the U.S. and Canada wrote one of those "It has come to our attention..." e-mails to the automaker's dealer body. The VP's problem was dealers trying to get reservation deposits for the Ford F-150 Lightning well above the official $100 fee. The tomfoolery resulted in interactions "with customers in a manner that is negatively impacting customer satisfaction and damaging to the Ford Motor Company brand and Dealer Body reputation." Two weeks later, GM told its dealers to cut out the reservation gaming and the markups on the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, banditry that's been going on for two years. Two weeks ago, Ford was back at it, this time about markups on the Bronco. Last week, Asian automakers swept into the melee, with Hyundai and Genesis, Subaru, and Infiniti writing letters to their dealers to deliver some variant of, "Stop pissing off the customers." Automotive News reported an SVP at Hyundai Motor America and the COO at Genesis Motor North America sent letters to their dealers expressing disappointment at "certain pricing practices which, if left unchecked, will have a negative impact on the health of our brand." One of the practices mentioned was dealer markups, another was the bait-and-switch, with dealers advertising one price then charging a higher price once the customer showed up at the lot. The letters acknowledged that dealers are separate companies to the automakers and have the right to set their own prices. The automakers cannot interfere with that; their leverage is distributing allocations and perks such as advertising support and financial incentives. So, like a movie boss letting the protagonist go on a technicality, the brands wrote, "we cannot stand idly by watching the actions of the aforementioned dealers undo all the efforts we collectively have put into making these brands what they are today." Jalopnik got tipped to a letter Subaru of America CEO Thomas Doll sent to that brand's dealers. Doll's polite yet insistent tone was the result of a letter a loyal Subaru owner sent to the automaker's VP of Customer Advocacy. In the market for a third brand-new Forester, the owner said they encountered a "tax" labeled a "Low Inventory Surcharge" of as much as $6,000, putting the Forester out of reach.
