This car was purchased from Nate Wade Subaru in Salt Lake City in 2006. I am the original owner. Vehicle was a semi daily driver for about 2 years. It was a typical stage 2 car, Cobb Accessport, TBE, suspension goodies etc. During that time, the car was driven in the snow less than 5 times. Oil was changed every 3k miles. Car did not see any form of racing or abusive driving.
2008, car underwent a fairly major facelift. Rallysportdirect helped plan the build of the car as well as source all after market parts. Solid Autoworks, a great shop in Salt Lake, with a sterling reputation completed installation of all parts. They have also overseen all maintenance during the life of the car, as well as a recent compression leak-down test.
Local body shop, Kindig It Design, installed body pieces and completely prepped and repainted the exterior of the car. Fitment of after market body pieces are OEM quality. Factory paint code was used, but with a much thicker higher quality paint. No painting in engine bay or interior of car. This body shop is known for their award winning SEMA cars and hot rod cover cars.
Christian from Cobb tuning layed down base tune to use during proper motor break in period. With use of Cobb Accessport EM, a few different maps were made to use. John Shafer of Akuma Motorsports, who was with Cobb tuning at the time, was the last person to tune the car. With race gas and meth, the car made 520 awhp at 4300 feet above sea level, on a mustang dyno. The only thing holding the car back was the fuel system. At this point, I was pretty much done chasing power and dumping money into the car. I had the option to upgrade the fuel system, but the car already had plenty of power and would forever be beyond my driving capabilities.
The car has remained unchanged over the last ~4 years. Since the big build, it has never seen snow. It has remained garaged and covered, sometimes for long periods of time. Care was taken to preserve integrity of fluids during periods of sitting in the garage. All regular maintenance has been kept up with and performed at professional shop, Solid Auto. Vehicle has been respected and kept up with, body and interior are in near flawless condition. Engine bay is very clean, as is the underbody. The car recently was in the shop for regular service and thoroughly inspected. Compression-leakdown test revealed 0% compression loss in 3 cylinders and 1% loss in one. I attended one open track session at Miller Motorsports Park, participating in a GT Live event. This was by no means wheel to wheel racing, rather hot laps for the uninitiated to driving a road course. Car performed perfectly. The driver, could have used a lot of work. Other than this occasion, car has NEVER been launched, dragged or abused. Many would say I never even drive the car like it is meant to be driven. No street racing or other freeway bull**** either. Car has been run on pump gas and no meth, for 98% of the time since it was done being built. I wish I could stomach paying for race gas all the time.
I am selling this car because I lost the desire and interest in modified cars a few years ago. The car has sentimental value and I debated on parting with it for awhile. I have a small family now and I could also put some of the money from the sale of it towards future education. Finding it a good home, with somebody who would really enjoy it would be great. Hopefully someone will appreciate the quality of the parts used and the care taken to maintain it.
Notes:
*The car could probably use a tune. It has been a few years since it has had one. Seeing as how I'm skeptical someone here in Utah will buy it, I feel retuning it before I sell it, at this altitude, would be pointless.
*There is evidence of minor rubbing on some of the tires. This occurred at the open track session when the car was a little too low.
*Clear bra needs to be trimmed and tightened. This will be taken care of before sale.
*Very small scratch on cover of ashtray on center console.

Buy a Toyota GT86 and your wife will hate you
Wed, 14 Nov 2012Marketing can be a very strange business. Convincing a man or woman (or child, really) that they absolutely cannot live without the latest, greatest new bit of technology oftentimes takes a unique approach. In the "online film promoting the Toyota GT86" you'll see below, created by agency Happiness Brussels, men are reverse-psychologied into thinking a new sports coupe will make them more masculine by getting their loved ones to hate them. Or something like that. We think.
In any case, we suggest you watch the video below to see how much fun men can have with a GT86 - or Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ, presumably - at the expense of their significant others. Fair warning: There's a potential Not Safe For Work moment in the ad: beware of a brief male butt shot about 44 seconds in.
Marketing. Gotta love it. Unless you're married to a man. Or something like that. We think. Whatever, just watch.
Plans for 7-seat Subaru Tribeca replacement becoming clearer
Mon, 11 Nov 2013Subaru is going to have its hands full at the Tokyo Motor Show next week, but while the Cross Sport Design Concept is expected to preview a Tribeca-replacing crossover, this new model could still be at least two years from production. It has already been confirmed that production of the Tribeca will end early next year, but in speaking with Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, the president of Subaru's parent Fuji Heavy Industries, Automotive News is reporting that there will be a lengthy gap between the Tribeca and its eventual replacement.
The next-gen three-row crossover wasn't included in an annual production capacity goal of 500,000 units expected in the US by the end of 2016, so it's likely that we won't see this much-needed CUV until 2017. While the details of this new model aren't known, Yoshinaga told AN that it will be "completely different" from the Tribeca. As we heard back in February, we do expect this seven-passenger crossover to grow in size in order to offer a larger cabin with more third-row space.
Automotive News even mentions that the Tribeca replacement could be based on the existing Subaru Exiga from the Japanese market. That three-row vehicle splits the difference between a minivan and wagon, with swinging doors instead of sliders, and a tall greenhouse.
New Subaru Outback spied for the first time
Fri, 21 Mar 2014The Outback has been a strong seller for Subaru, especially in its most recent generation when it combined station wagon utility with crossover looks. The model is getting an imminent redesign just like its platform-mate the Legacy, and here are the first spy photos of it testing in Europe against an Audi Q5.
The cladding makes it very hard to tell what exactly Subaru is doing with the styling, but it's clear that they are sticking to the combined wagon/CUV look from the current gen. Many parts appear taken almost directly from the new Legacy like the door-mounted mirrors, creased hood and angular headlights. The windshield also appears more steeply raked than today's Outback, and at the rear the taillights look thinner and more vertical.
We are expecting the new Outback to use the revised 2.5-liter four-cylinder and possibly the 3.6-liter boxer six-cylinder from its sedan counterpart at launch. However, a previous rumor indicated the possibility of a smaller six-cylinder and a turbocharged four-cylinder being added to the lineup, but these new engines might still be a few years away.
