Up for sale is my 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX (non-smoking driver).  I am the second owner of this vehicle and originally purchased it in 2005 w/ 12K miles from CarMax.  This car is my pride and joy and I have enjoyed every moment of it.  The WRX is for sale simply due to the fact that I need a larger vehicle.  Title is clean and on hand. (2) sets of keys and fobs available.  I have done a lot of work to this car and it has its fair share of upgrades.  The car is in good overall condition w/ normal wear and tear.  Paint is Black Pearl – gold specs in the paint when under the sun.  The turbo was recently replaced @ 87,277 miles by a local Subaru dealer (service record available, under 10K miles on turbo).  Current mileage is 98,445.  Routine oil changes performed using only Full Synthetic Oil.  Only used premium gas since the day I purchased the vehicle.  WRXs in general have a lot of ‘body roll’ – since upgrading aspects of the suspension this problem has been fully resolved!  The upgrades that I have done include the following:

·         Cobb Tuning Front Strut Tower Bar

·         Cobb Tuning Rear Strut Tower Bar

·         Cobb Tuning Front Anti-Sway Bar

·         Cobb Tuning Rear Anti-Sway Bar

·         Perrin Rear Sway Bar End Links

·         Cobb Tuning SS 3” Turbo Back Exhaust (includes Downpipe)

·         Cobb Tuning Up-Pipe

·         Cobb Tuning Lowering Springs

·         Cobb Tuning Access Port (Currently programmed for Stage 2)

·         Cobb Tuning SF Intake (extra Air Filter included)

·         Eclipse Navigation/DVD/CD/Sirius Radio Player

The vehicle will be sold as-is, no warranty.  Buyer is responsible for all shipping charges incurred.

Toyota GT86 engineers explored shooting brake and sedan variants, are they still in the cards?

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

According to the Toyota UK blog, engineers for the automaker were so excited developing the GT86 coupe that they investigated producing a whole family of models based on the rear-wheel drive sports car. And at least one engineer - product chief Tetsuya Tada - still hopes it can happen, even if not everyone at Toyota is onboard. Tada: "Actually we tried to do this secretly but the executives found us out. They said: 'What are you doing? Will you please focus on the coupe.'"
Those mooted variants included both a four-door sedan and a shooting brake. Why? Aside from the pure excellence of a lightweight, brilliantly handling hatchback, Toyota was keenly aware of the fact that it may need to spread the cost of development out across several models. Tada says that's part of the reason why it was so easy to create the convertible. The company knew from the outset that a softtop version was in the cards, and built the machine's structure to accommodate having the roof sliced off.
Tada also made mention of the already-announced collaboration between Toyota and BMW. The engineer said that the GT86 was particularly helpful because it demonstrated just how successful a product conceived and designed by two different companies can be. While he didn't say exactly what Toyota and BMW are up to, it's clear the two are looking into a number of possibilities. It's an interesting read with a lot of

Junkyard Gem: 1992 Subaru SVX

Wed, Jul 20 2016

Subaru is doing quite well these days with its formula of selling a combination of sensible pavement-optional commuters and rally-inspired performance cars, but go back a quarter-century or so and many of the cars with the Pleiades badges were known more for futuristic jet-fighter-style cockpits and weird gadgetry. This philosophy reached its peak with the brilliant, bizarre Subaru SVX, sold in North America for the 1992 through 1995 model years. Here's a well-preserved purple SVX I spotted a few days ago in a Denver self-service yard. Just look at the side glass! It's impossible to not love the way this car looks. The design of the SVX's exterior was the creation of Giorgetto Giugiaro. The SVX had a DOHC flat-six displacing 3.3 liters, the largest street engine Subaru had built up to that point. It made 231 horsepower, which was respectable for the era. Unfortunately, Subaru didn't have a manual transmission that could handle that kind of engine power, so every SVX came with a four-speed automatic... which (in addition to being way less fun than a manual) also couldn't handle the EG33's output. For this reason, you see SVXs in fairly decent condition at junkyards all the time; a good-running, clean example is worth good money, but one with a bad transmission is worth its weight in scrap. Next Subaru WRX and STI to go sedan only; reveal headed for LA

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

After a serious bit of teasing at the 2013 New York Auto Show, Subaru might be finally preparing to pull the sheets off of the production versions of the new WRX and STI. The venue, according to Automotive News, will be the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Besides that tasty bit of info, AN has a number of other interesting ideas about the 2015 WRX.
If you've been a fan of the five-door bodystyle, don't read this - the next WRX and STI will reportedly go four-door only. We've already seen the latter's whopping great wing, a tradition we're happy to see soldering on for next-gen car. According to the AN report, power figures to be around 265 horsepower from a 2.5-liter, turbocharged, flat-four engine.
Los Angeles is still quite far off, so expect to hear more rumblings about a production WRX or STI in the coming weeks. Take a look above for our most recent batch of spy photos, and then hop down below for some images of the stunning WRX Concept that was shown at New York.
