103xxx, low miles for the year. Adult Driven, Daily Driver, Very Dependable.
This will be a detailed and accurate description of the vehicle for sale.
Mostly stock, some minor modifications.
Recent work/maintenance performed in the last 5k miles :
Timing Belt service, tensioners replaced. All new spark plugs, oil changed with Mobil 1 full synthetic. Rebuilt transmission - $1900. As a lot of Subaru enthusiasts know, this year model was known to have some transmission issues when it reached higher miles, but this will not be a worry for the next owner. Shortly after i bought the car it began making slight noises that seemed to be a throwout bearing, had it looked at by a trusted local transmission shop and ended up needing to be rebuilt with new bearings. Clearly fresh gear oil added at this time as well. This vehicle shifts smoothly and precisely. A brand new Exedy OEM clutch was installed at this time, so no worries there either. Receipts available, along with contact numbers for any of the shops that performed the work.
Performance Modifications :
Tastefully modified. Bought completely stock. I knew i wanted it to be a little quicker, but I didnt want it to be loud or look conspicuous in any way. What I ended up doing was only having a catless uppipe and downpipe installed instead of a full turbo back exhaust. The uppipe was a catless sti uppipe with the stock heatshield so i didnt need to wrap it, the downpipe, however, was wrapped with titanium heatshield wrap and since it wasnt a bellmouth it fit perfectly with the stock heatshield. For looks I bolted on an sti axleback exhaust. Not loud at all. My tuner remarked it is the quietest wagon he'd ever tuned. Ok, on to the tune : with the necessary upgrades to the exhaust performed, a DeatschWerks fuel pump was installed, along with a Grimmspeed manual boost controller. Professionally Street Tuned by Jason Story (UnknownTuning@ Gmail.com). I asked him to do a smooth, moderate, reliable tune for daily driving. The car put down 225whp and 235wtq which is around 275hp and 285 ft/ lbs of torque at the crank. What I ended up with is a quiet, reliable, daily driver/sleeper.
Exterior :
Platinum Silver Metallic in color. A couple minor dents as you would expect to find on a 11-12 year old car. I have captured all the noticeable ones in the pictures, the main blemish being on the driver rear quarter. I had this quoted with a paintless dent repair service for $200. It never really bothered me so I was waiting to get it done. I will factor this into the price. New windshield wiper blades and fog light bulbs. The paint is still smooth and shines like new when clean. A previous owner must have done some light towing as there are some marks on the rear bumper that could be repaired. Overall the car looks great, with only minor issues. Wheels have no curb rash. Tires have abt 25% tread should last another 5-10k.
Interior :
The interior of this car is nearly flawless. I shopped around for months before settling on the car, it was in great mechanical shape, but what sold me, though hard to admit, was the interior. The seats are practically like new, with no holes, tears, or even deformed foam on the drivers seat. No stains or sun damage anywhere in the car, and no burns because clearly it was never smoked in. Even the headliner is flawless, showing no signs of drooping or separation from the seams. There is a small scratch on the glovebox and a slight puncture on the passenger door both from my dachsunds nails. He rides in the other Subie now you can see it in the background of one of my pics, my wifes 2001 Legacy GT Wagon. So we are Subaru lovers you see!
With all of the work and general maintenance, performed, this is sure to be a reliable, and fun car. However, I need an automatic due to relocation, so it has to go. This car is tight, and ready to go for a long time. Receipts for all work done available. Kelly Blue Book has the car listed at 8,000 in good condition. Considering maintenance performed, along with the good, the bad, and the ugly, I'm asking :
$8750.00
Thanks for looking! Cash only, No Lowballers, No Joyrides. More detailed pictures available on request

West Coast labor dispute hampers Japanese automakers' US plants
Wed, Feb 18 2015The ongoing labor dispute between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and port owners along the West Coast is starting to affect more Japanese automakers building vehicles in the US. The issue already forced Honda and Subaru to take the expensive option of airlifting some parts into the US weeks ago, and according to USA Today, Toyota and Nissan have begun doing so, as well. The choice hasn't been cheap, though, and Subaru's chief financial officer estimated that the decision cost around $60 million more per month than sending components by cargo ship. The effects continue to radiate, according to USA Today, and shortages of some models are possible. Honda is slowing production at its factories in Ohio, Indiana and Canada because the automaker doesn't have enough transmissions and electronics for some vehicles. Toyota already cut back on overtime at some factories. Nissan has only seen a small effect from the issue, though, because of its local suppliers. Dock workers and port owners have been negotiating on a new contract since last year, and the union has organized work slowdowns in response. According to USA Today, the automakers could move shipments to Canada or Mexico, but it would take longer for parts to arrive. 2014 Subaru Forester XT
Fri, 25 Jan 2013Hitting The Mainstream Sweet Spot
The Forester does quite a bit of heavy lifting for Subaru. What was once a plucky little all-wheel-drive utility box has matured into a competitive crossover that accounts for a quarter of the company's total sales in the US. With those numbers continuing to swell even in the third generation's twilight hours, engineers and designers found themselves in the unenviable position of being asked to fix what ain't broke. Rather than reinvent the company's workhorse from the ground up, as we say in our first look at the CUV, Subaru honed the Forester to offer better fuel efficiency, more usable space and a more refined drive.
In doing so, the automaker hopes to toe that delicate line between luring in new devotees to the cult of Pleiades and keeping the brand's longtime fans smiling. While the fourth-generation Forester may have lost some of its trademark pluckiness in the pursuit of a more mainstream existence, there's no denying this is a more sorted vehicle than its predecessors. Make no mistake, the 2014 Forester is keen to carve out a larger chunk of the ever-plumping CUV market for itself, and for the first time in its history, it has the muscle to do so.
We drive a Subaru to one of the world's largest glaciers
Wed, Feb 24 2016Now that we're back from Patagonia, senior video producer Chris McGraw is emptying out his camera memory and putting together a number of short clips showing the various places we visited along the journey. (Yes, we wanted to upload these last week, but had little to no wifi connectivity along the way.) In this latest video, we bring you the sights from our trip to the Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina, and a look at the roads leading into Chile. Our chariot for what was actually Day 3 of the trip was a Subaru Forester, which had no problem tackling the rough dirt and gravel roads through Patagonia, and was an excellent cruiser for the twisty paved roads leading into the Andes mountain range. The Perito Moreno Glacier is massive – roughly three times the size of Manhattan – and is one of only a few glaciers in Patagonia that's still growing. It is truly an awesome sight – one that's hard to describe, because when you see it, you just sort of stand there, mouth agape, fascinated. We've got a few more clips in the works, including our full Patagonia feature video. Stay tuned, and enjoy the view.
