Selling my 02 subaru impreza RS. Its in great condition for its age, no dents, no rust, only minor road chips. New studded ICE tires "4k miles" brand new O2 sensors, brand new brakes all around, brand new front rotors, new spark plugs, new k@n air and oil filters, 149k miles on the car, I run only royal purple engine oil, transmission doesnt shift hard and is slip free. car does burn antifreeze, and needs a new serpentine belt because it squeels if you dont use dressing. interior if flawless and if cleaned with some easily obtained cleaners from walmart it could look brand new "will when you come see it" some of the clear coat is starting to flake off on the rear drivers side, and the paint on the roof is faded due to the previous owner parking it in half shade for years. its a 2 owner car, and i only drive it in the winter and have treated it like a newborn child. This is the (bug eye) model year. Before 05 subaru made their WRX and STI with 2.0L engines as they were still involved in the world rally chsmpionships "restricted to 2.0L". So the RS being a 2.5, VERY similar to the 2.5 put in STI's post 05 is very popular with the modding community as it can be made to fit with the post 05 STI turbo and parts, thus making it a MASSIVELY cheaper alternative to buying a real STI. this car is 100% stock, and never tampered with, nor has it ever exceded the speed limit as its my winter emergency MUST BE RELIABLE at all times vehicle. So I drove it like a granny. Engines strong, tranny is strong, handles like a dream, all interior devices function except the clock on the dash.

Subaru STI display celebrates the division's high-performance history in New York
Wed, Apr 1 2015Subaru Tecnica International is really getting to celebrate itself at the 2015 New York Auto Show. Not only is the Japanese brand's performance division showing off a turbocharged take on the BRZ in the Big Apple, it also set up a small exhibit commemorating four past achievements. The oldest car of the group is a 1996 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type RA wearing full rally garb. Its 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer four-cylinder kicks out 270 horsepower, but this specific one isn't a competitor. Instead, Subaru used the vehicle to promote the launch of the 1998 Impreza 2.5RS. STI also has one of the most coveted Subarus ever on display, a 1999 Impreza 22B STI. These limited two-door models were made to celebrate the company's World Rally Championship victories. Each one was plucked off the assembly line and fitted with a curvaceous, wider body and adjustable rear wing. Power was provided by a 2.2-liter turbocharged boxer four-cylinder with 280 horsepower. The final two members of this mini museum are a bit more modern. The 2004 WRX STI should be familiar to performance fans in the US with its 300-horsepower boosted 2.5-liter four-cylinder and six-speed manual. There's also the 2015 WRX STI that blitzed the Isle of Man last year to set a new lap record of 19 minutes and 26 seconds around the island course. With STI planning a US expansion over the coming years, this is a fantastic reminder of the division's past. Hopefully, it can keep living up to these high standards. Related Video:
Subaru suppliers rely on gray market labor
Fri, Jul 31 2015The Subaru Forester is currently the Japanese brand's bestselling model in the US. A new investigation by Reuters is making some scathing allegations about how the popular model is actually made, though. The piece claims that many of Subaru's suppliers in Ota, Japan, are using low-paid foreign workers and asylum seekers to produce components that go into the CUV. The report says that these laborers are coming from places like China and Bangladesh, and they allegedly receive a pittance compared to their Japanese counterparts. Many said that they get about $6.60 an hour, but employment brokers can take a large portion of that pay. At just four suppliers Reuters estimates there are 580 foreign workers, or about 30 percent of the total workforce. The situation has turned Ota into a cultural melting pot because of the significant population of immigrant labor. The problem stems in part from Japan's tiny labor market, and the country's odd asylum system that doesn't allow some applicants to work legally. These suppliers produce many components for the Forester, including the seats, shocks, and fuel tanks. Reuters admits that the businesses have contracts with other Japanese automakers, as well, but Subaru receives the main focus of this piece, which you can read in full, here. When asked for comment about Reuters' report, Subaru of America provided Autoblog with the following statement: "Fuji Heavy Industries does not condone the exploitation of any class of worker, either in its own operations or within its supply chain. FHI expects all employees to be treated fairly, with dignity and respect and to be provided with appropriate workplace protections. The FHI CSR policy respects and adheres to the law and regulations of business as well as upholding human rights and international standards of behavior and the ethical standards of our stakeholders. Our supply chain network has been made aware of our policy and expectations."
2015 Subaru Legacy, Outback crash their way to IIHS Top Safety Pick+ ratings [w/video]
Wed, 20 Aug 2014The Subaru Legacy and Outback are the latest vehicles to be awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's most prestigious safety title, Top Safety Pick+.
As we've explained many times before, this only applies vehicles that can score an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating on the five IIHS crash tests and earn at least a "Basic" rating for crash prevention systems.
In the Legacy's case, it totally aced IIHS's testing, earning "Good" scores on the small overlap, front moderate overlap, side impact, roof crush and rear impact tests, while also bringing home the top "Superior" rating for its optional EyeSight system.
