2003 Subaru Lagacy Wagon on 2040-cars
Bear, Delaware, United States
2003 Subaru Legacy Wagon. Alloy rims. Kenwood CD player. I am the 2nd owner of this Subaru and it has treated me and my family well. Always runs well. All wheel drive has been great this winter in the snow. This is our 4th car so we are selling it to cut back our insurance costs. Clean title in my wife's name. New struts in the past year. Tires have about 5,000 miles on them. Transmission fluid was just changed as was oil, filter and coolant. Aftermarket Kenwood CD player. New speakers. This car has lots of options. Auto locks with two sets of keys. Power windows. Auto. Cruse control. Cloth seats. Two sunroofs/moon roofs. I installed a Reese tow hitch and wiring for pulling a 4x8 trailer. I probably used the tow hitch a total of 20 times for short trips. No rust. This is a 11 year old car so expect some dings and scratches. The front right fender has a minor dent from a fender bender that I was in. Also the rear bumper cover looks like it was repaired. It did not show up on the title report when I bought it so I suspect it was another fender bender the last owner was in and had fixed. You might not even notice it. And although the steering is solid there is a slight creaking or squeaking when the steering wheel is all the way to one side or the other. Someone told be it was a $50 bearing that had to be replaced but it never bothered me. Oil was always changed every 3,000 miles. The car fax showed it was done at the dealer with the last owner and I did it since we have owned it. In the past year both front axles were replaced also. Rubber floor mats included as well as the OEM trunk floor mat. The trunk floor mat does have some plumbers pipe thread sealant on it. Clean inside over all but remember it is 11 years old. Timing belt changed at 90,000. Great car with lots of life left in it. No check engine lights or any other type of warning lights. Sold 'AS IS'. Cash on pick up please. Thanks |

Even Ferrari swept up in latest Takata recall expansion
Fri, May 27 2016The scope of Takata's deadly airbag problems continues to widen. Eight manufacturers announced recalls Friday that affect more than 12 million vehicles, according to documents filed with federal regulators. The automakers include Honda, which is recalling 4.5 million units, Fiat Chrysler with 4.3 million, Toyota with 1.65 million, and Subaru, which is recalling almost 400,000. Some of these cars include the Saab 9-2x and Pontiac Vibe that Toyota and Subaru made for General Motors. Mazda will recall 730,000 vehicles and Nissan has 400,000 affected units. The smallest numbers were posted by Mitsubishi, with 38,000 Lancers manufactured from 2006 to 2007, and as a noteworthy high-end manufacturer, Ferrari is calling back 2,800 vehicles. These are all US-market cars. Beyond America, the Japanese Transport Ministry has announced seven million additional vehicles will be recalled, which means 19.6 million vehicles across the globe are affected by recalls announced. The defects have been traced to an insufficiently manufactured airbag inflator, which lacks a drying agent that would prevent the inflators from deteriorating over time. Thirteen deaths have been linked to the faulty airbags, which have become unstable and are prone to exploding and showering vehicle occupants with lethal amounts of metal shrapnel. A private equity firm, KKR & Co., has been named in a possible buyout of the struggling Takata. Subaru investing $400 million for Impreza production in Indiana
Thu, 09 May 2013As a part of a goal to increase its US sales tally up to 500,000 annual units by the end of the decade, Subaru is investing $400 million in its Lafayette, IN assembly plant in order to start building the Impreza in 2016. According to Automotive News, about half of that investment will be for a new paint plant while another big chunk will be used to extend the assembly line to allow for the increased capacity.
Currently, Subaru's Lafayette plant is responsible for building about 200,000 Legacy, Outback and Tribeca models each year (not including around 100,000 Toyota Camry sedans), but Subaru-specific output will be increased to 300,000 units, requiring an additional 900 new hires as well. Although a previous report suggested the Forester and Impreza would be moving Stateside, this AN article only mentions the hatchback and sedan versions of the Impreza being added to Lafayette - and no mention of the closely related XV Crosstrek.
Subaru recalling 660k vehicles in some states for possible brake line corrosion
Thu, 03 Jul 2014Subaru is recalling 660,238 vehicles located in 20 US states that use salt on their roads. It's possible that salty water could splash onto the rear brake lines, and it could eventually cause corrosion and potentially perforation, leading to a fluid leak.
The recall covers the 2005-2009 Outback and Legacy, 2008-2011 Impreza, 2008-2014 WRX and STI and 2009-2013 Forester. However, only vehicles currently or formerly registered in the following snowy US states or districts are covered: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. The company previously recalled the 2005-2009 Legacy and Outback to repair this problem, and now it's added the additional models, plus any of the original cars it missed the first time.
According to the defect notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Subaru found a total of 24 cases of corrosion in US leading up to the recall. There was a single case of actual brake line perforation, but it happened in Switzerland, according to the document. The company believes that it would take seven or more seasons of winter driving on salty roads before any corroding would begin.
