Clean Title In Hand

This is the absolute best built and tuned cars that I have ever had the pleasure to drive. It is tuned for everyday use as well as to blow away the C6 at the stop light next to you. This car is in incredible condition and will completely blow your mind with the power that it is capable of when you put your foot into it. Not to mention the fact that everything on the car is as it comes from the dealership. Ice cold AC, power windows, power door locks, factory suede seats, HID headlights, Differential control, SI-Drive, and unbelievable Brembo Brakes. The car does have a few rock chips and minor blemishes which is to be expected from use. However, there are no dents or dings at all. Overall this is just a great looking 5 door wagon that is incredibly clean inside, out, under and elsewhere. The entire engine has been built from the bottom end to the top with extremely high quality parts and you will be able to tell the second you hear it run. The car sounds amazing and pulls like you would not believe. Speed Industry in Troy Michigan did the internal engine work and head work, while Turn In Concepts completely installed all other components. I had the car totally inspected and retuned by IAG Performance in Westminster Maryland. They have insured me that the car is built very well and is a very strong runner for anything you could possibly throw at it. Unfortunately my job has made it impossible for me to enjoy the car since I am working seven days a week and just do not have any time to play with the car at all. Regretfully I am putting it up for sale so that someone else can enjoy it and run the car like it is meant to be run. Here is the modification list that created this wonderful monster that make 417 WHP and 390 ft. lb. Wheel Torque at 21 psi running on 93 octane pump gas. This is a very conservative tune as I told the guys at IAG that I wanted to be able to drive this car as a daily driver and make it as reliable as possible. Rick and JJ at the shop are wonderful guys if you ever get a chance to visit there and Cleo (the tuner) is incredibly knowledgable and very thorough.

2015 Subaru WRX: Road trip to Maine [w/video]

Fri, Nov 28 2014

After driving one of the best sport compacts on the market to one of the best-driving-roads states in the Union, who'd have thought that one of my big takeaways would be... great fuel economy? And yet, after putting more than 2,200 miles on our long-term 2015 Subaru WRX, driving from Ann Arbor, MI, to The Great State of Maine and back, my overall fuel consumption figures were almost as baffling as the premium-gasoline prices throughout Canada. In the early part of the now-past autumn, my wife Molly and I were happy to make use of the long-term WRX for our annual road trip from Michigan to Maine. Our goal, as ever, was to fit as much hiking, boating and lobster eating as we could into a one-week span. And, with the sporting Scoobie as our ride this time, I also hoped to spend time bombing down some of my favorite roads through the White Mountains. Anyone that pays attention to the industry knows that New England is a hot spot for Subaru sales, but it turns out that the WRX is just about tailor made for enjoying the best of Maine, too. First up, though – as it was the most surprising to me – is the fuel economy story. I knew going into the trip that I'd log more than two grand on the odometer, but I never expected the returns to be quite so positive as they ended up netting out. My total observed economy over 2,226 miles was 28.38 miles per gallon, or just a fraction better than the EPA estimated highway number of 28 mpg. How'd I do that? My total observed economy over 2,226 miles was 28.38 miles per gallon. Well, for starters, the stretch of Canadian highway between Michigan and Vermont is exceptionally long, flat, straight and dull. Excepting the inevitable traffic around Toronto, the trip is mostly of the "set it and forget it" variety, typically at a cruise of about 72 miles per hour (so as not to attract the Mounties). Doing that haul, I had one tank of premium (15.9 gallon capacity) last for 466 miles, running a trip-best 31.9 mpg. Considering that the Canadian petrol was running me roughly five American bucks per gallon, I appreciated the Subie's newfound frugality. One small issue, tangentially related to fuel, did crop up on the road. The WRX's gas door stopped popping open when I pulled the lever after my second fill up. As it turned out, there is a technical service bulletin out for this very issue, which was looked after as soon as we got back to the States.

2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid [w/video]

Mon, 11 Nov 2013

The butler announcing arriving guests to the hybrid party has just called Subaru's name, at long last. The XV Crosstrek wasn't even supposed to come to the US, but the 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid endows it with a suit tailored for our regulatory dress code, adding all that weighty battery goodness to the Impreza-turned-compact-crossover.
Subaru didn't want to say why it sent the XV Crosstrek to the hybrid party first, but the original car itself was an opportunistic play for the European market that has worked out surprisingly well over there and over here. In areas represented by the American flag it's doing about 4,000 sales per month and on pace to hit 50,000 units for all of 2013; that's just another happy chapter in Subaru's generally awesome year that sees it outpacing Volkswagen through the end of October, 347,890 units to 342,962.
The XV Crosstrek Hybrid is the opportunistic play for the 25 percent of Subaru buyers that will be looking for a hybrid as their next vehicle, so sayeth Subaru, and for those outside the fold who are determined to include the word "hybrid" in their purchase but also want some extra ride height, space and all-wheel drive.

2013 Subaru Outback Limited

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

Subaru has given the 2013 Outback a host of detail changes and updates, though you'd hardly know from looking at it. The mild exterior changes mostly go unnoticed, and if you're comparing on a numbers basis, the new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is bang-on what the old engine would do. The biggest news is EyeSight, Subaru's new stereo camera-based system that drives lane-departure warning, active cruise control, automatic emergency braking and forward collision alert functions.
The 2013 Outback spent some time in my driveway, and as far as jacked-up wagons with off-road cladding go, this is one of the most affordable of the lot. That doesn't mean it's cheap; the Outback I tried was a Limited model with moonroof, navigation, EyeSight, leather and CVT added on. That takes the Outback from its roughly $25,000 starting point and adds nearly $10,000, landing solidly in the mid-$30,000 range. Still, against its most natural competitors like the Volvo XC70 and Audi A6 Avant, the Outback is a better value.
