2007 Subaru WRX STI LIMITED 547/800 URBAN GREY

Overview:

I am the second owner of this beautiful machine. I purchased this STI Limited from California in 2010 with about 16,000 miles, and shipped to Connecticut in a closed trailer. The previous owner had it as a weekend car; it was his baby. He purchased the Cobb Port for it, and it has always run a stage 1 tune (which apparently makes the air/fuel mixture better). Besides the stage 1 tune the car is bone stock. The previous owner mentioned that had he kept the car he would have done a SPT or Cobb downpipe and an aftermarket intake, but never got around to it. The previous owner did spend around $6,000 on a completely custom and well balanced audio system.

Upon purchasing the car I intended to daily drive it, but despite its bolstered heated leather seats, sound system and sunroof, the STI Limited is a raw sports car. So like the previous owner I chose to keep it as a weekend car, and continued to daily my BMW 335. It has always been washed and waxed by hand and is taken on nice weekend drives in the Connecticut countryside spring, summer and fall. In the winter the car is stored in a temperature controlled garage, Stabil put in a full tank of 93, battery tender attached, and tires over pressurized (and rolled around occasionally) so not to get flat spots. Despite their reputation for being great in the snow, this car has never seen snow or salty roads. It has also never been tracked and was always adult driven.

I am selling this STI because it has become one of too many toys. I barely have time to drive one weekend car, so now the STI gets neglected for the 911. The STI needs a new owner to baby her.

Exterior:

The car is completely MINT. It is without a doubt in my mind the cleanest STI Limited out there. It is one of 400 in the Urban Grey color and #547/800 STI Limited models produced. There are a few minor scratches here and there but they are almost unnoticeable without already knowing they are there. Any maintenance done to the car was done either at Danbury Subaru in Danbury, CT or EFI Logics in Bethel CT. EFI Logics is one of the best Subaru performance shops on the east coast. They recently flushed the diff fluid, did an oil change, brake fluid flush, brake pads and more. EFI also recommended I replace the brake rotors with stop tech Kryostop rotors but I never got around to it. The current rotors are not bad, but they are worn unevenly so they wear pads out more quickly. I just replaced the battery in the car as the charge was weak. The car also has brand new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires wrapped around the silver Enkei wheels unique to the STI Limited.

This past fall when I driving the STI I struck a possum that ran into the road. This cracked the original front splitter with the STI badge and lightly damaged the front bumper. The car's bumper was repaired and the splitter replaced by North State Custom in Bedford Hills, NY. The front bumper looks better than it did from the factory. There are absolutely no bad panel gaps, in fact they are better than factory. The front splitter no longer has the STI badge on it but looks just like the factory one.

I have all the receipts for any work done to the car, including those from the previous owner. Everything is documented.

Interior:

The STI's interior, like the exterior, is mint. The console looks very clean with the Pioneer head unit. This car features the Subaru factory boost gauge on the steering column. The interior has always been cleaned with high end products. While I have owned the car I have cleaned and conditioned the leather a few times. No harmful sprays or all purpose cleaners have been used. Warm water and soft rags to wipe down and windex for windows. The car has both summer and winter mats. The drivers side summer mat is torn where it attaches to the single pin that holds it in place (a very bad design if you ask me). All the other mats are perfect. The driver's seat has very light wear on the outside bolster. The rest of the seats look new; the interior still has that new car smell. The trunk and trunk mat are very clean. The trunk mat isn't removable because the JL stealth box was mounted on top of it. The amplifiers are mounted under the trunk floor where the spare tire would have been. All the wiring is invisible; it is truly a stealth audio system. The spare tire is in a tire rack donut bag and can be kept in the car or left at home. The original radio is in the pioneer box and will be included with the car. The Cobb tuning port (box, instructions, etc) will also be included in the sale.

Audio System:

The audio system features a pioneer touchscreen head unit which looks simpler and more elegant than stock. The head unit also features bluetooth phone capability (has a mic built in) and a reverse camera mounted in the license plate location. It has upgraded pioneer speakers in all the doors (component in front/coax in rear) and a kicker amplifier to power them. It also has a JL 10w6v2 subwoofer in a stealth box, and a kicker amplifier to power that as well.

A note to the buyer:

The milage will vary slightly as I do take the car out occasionally.

Local Pickup is easier. Buyer pays and arranges shipping if desired.

Serious inquires only!!! No joyrides.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask!

Thanks for looking!

Best of Luck

Why I chose a Subaru WRX over a BRZ

Mon, Feb 8 2016

It was early 2012, and I was ready to get a new car. Not just any car, but the car I had dreamed about for no less than a decade: the Subaru Impreza WRX. There was something about this car that always appealed to me, even before the WRX was sold stateside; originally it was the Impreza 2.5RS that caught my eye. What was so special about the WRX? Well, I loved the idea of having a small car with all-wheel drive and good power, all in a relatively affordable package. It was one car that could do it all. Oh, and that fresh rally blue paint and signature boxer rumble were easy on the eyes and ears. It was a long time coming. I was just about ready to place an order with my Subaru dealer. But wait. What's this? A new kid on the block. Subaru was releasing its long-time-coming, rear-wheel-drive sports car: the BRZ. I was enticed early on when it was announced that Toyota and Subaru would jointly develop a lightweight sports car, and my interest was piqued once I saw the beautiful FT-86 concept. Now I kind of had a tough choice. I still wanted the WRX, but also liked the idea of having a proper sports car with a low center of gravity and low weight. Very different cars, I know, but both offered the fun I craved. I didn't get to drive a BRZ, but I did sit in one and enjoyed the low seating position and crisp feel of the shifter. I could tell it was one car that would feel connected to the road, a true driver's car. After some deliberation and research, I ended up ordering the WRX, my original goal. Why? For one thing, the BRZ was so new that I couldn't get invoice pricing. Plus, with the winters here in Chicago, I really wanted AWD; I was pretty much tired of FWD, and didn't want to risk driving RWD in snowy/icy conditions. Further, the WRX provided usable back seats and plenty of cargo space in the hatchback version (which is the one I chose). To top it off, I loved the power I'd get with the WRX, even though it wouldn't handle quite like the low-slung BRZ. Long story short, it came down to what I mentioned earlier: one car that could do it all. The WRX is a jack of all trades. It offers a nice blend of performance and practicality. Do I have any regrets? Not at all. If my financial situation allowed for it, I would love to have an AWD daily driver and a RWD sports car for occasional use (either a BRZ, MX-5, or S2000), but since I could only afford one vehicle, the WRX was the right choice for me. I liked it so much, in fact, that I upgraded to a 2016 WRX.

Subaru axes WRX and STI in UK

Fri, 14 Dec 2012

Auto Express reports Subaru will stop selling the Impreza, WRX and WRX STI in the UK starting next year. A spokesperson with the company said Subaru has been evaluating the Impreza and its performance in the UK for the past year and has finally decided to pull the plug. That means all of the model's performance iterations will also drop off of dealer lots, including the WRX and the STI. The unnamed spokesperson said Subaru UK currently has no plans to to bring more stock of either model once the current supply sells out. That means buyers in the UK have until around early summer 2013 to get their hands on an STI.
The move comes in response to slow demand, which has trickled off in the face of competition that best the machine in terms of refinement, performance and emissions. Moving forward, the automaker says it will focus its sales efforts on models like the XV Crosstrek, Forester and Outback, as well as the company's new BRZ sports coupe.

Subaru allegedly developing mid-engine hybrid sports coupe

Thu, Mar 10 2016

A mid-engine, hybrid sports coupe could give Subaru a high-performance halo model in the coming years. According to Car and Driver, "a source close to Subaru" let slip the company has been testing the prototype powertrain underneath a BRZ at its proving grounds in Japan. "Whether the end result will be a two-door sports coupe or some kind of sports crossover/CUV is still in the evaluation stage," the anonymous source told Car and Driver. "A coupe seems more likely, though." The vehicle's layout allegedly uses a mid-mounted 1.6-liter turbocharged boxer engine with hybrid assist to spin the rear wheels, and two electric motors at the front would power that end. The resulting all-wheel drive powertrain would have about 330 horsepower or more, Car and Driver claims. If a production version happens, it would use the upcoming Subaru Global Platform. Rumors about Subaru's increased development of hybrids offer some support for this alleged sports coupe. The company reportedly might use electrification to boost the next-gen STI. In 2014, a story also suggested the automaker could revive the SVX as a performance-oriented hybrid shooting brake. More recently, even its Viziv GT Vision Gran Turismo concept combined a turbocharged boxer with three electric motors. While a Subaru sports coupe piques our interest, we are taking the prospect with a grain of salt for now. The Japanese brand has a tendency of teasing performance models but not actually delivering on them – like the STI Performance Concept (above) or the aggressive styling of the last WRX Concept. There could also be a long wait before we see what the company is developing. According to Car and Driver, a concept is at least two years away. Then it would take even more time for execs to okay production. Related Video:
