You are bidding on a 2002 Subaru WRX Wagon (VIN# JF1GG29632G822238). I am the original owner of this car, I bought it when they first became available in the US. I knew they were going to be great cars, and this one has not disappointed me.
I have loved driving it for the entire 130k miles that are on the car. The only reason why I am parting with it is because my commute to work is now taking me through downtown traffic and it's time for me to get a new WRX, but with the automatic for the bumper to bumper traffic I will likely be facing. I have not regretted a single mile in this car. Important notes on the car: - I have kept all service records on the car, I always used synthetic oil, and there are no leaks nor burning smoke coming from the engine. - The seats are in very good condition. There are no tears, holes or large stains. - The car has never been wrecked. The only body damage that has occurred resulted from things lightly denting it during Hurricane Wilma, and one light hit to the left passenger door while it was in a parking lot. All body work was done professionally by a dealership body shop. - This car is loaded with every option that was available in 2002. It has the sport instrument cluster, the upgraded Subaru sound system, and the alarm system, among other options. - I purchased the protective cargo tray and mats. Recent services performed/parts replaced: - Heavy duty clutch installed at 90k miles. - Both rear struts were replaced ($400 each side) - Both front CV joints were replaced recently - AC serviced and the expansion valve and drier was replaced - Most light bulbs were replaced with LED bulbs - New auto-dimming rear view mirror with electronic compass Additional Items Installed: - Turbo boost controller that allows the engine to be switched from low to high boost for power or economy modes. - Computer programmer that allows the computer to be programmed with various maps (profiles) for a range of modes from high performance to economy to stock modes in just a few seconds. - 17" wheels and tires with plenty of tread. - Subaru slotted high performance rotors and pads. - Radar detector - Remote start so the car AC will cool the car down on a hot day before you get in it. - Short shifter with nylon bushings (the original Subaru rubber bushings always wear out and the shifter gets sloppy. This shifter is tight.) - Borla stainless exhaust bought through Subaru. This is NOT a "fart pipe". It is a deep, bass-filled tone that sounds more like a V-8. - Exhaust up-pipe to the turbo. - Larger turbo (I still have the original turbo and it was working well when I removed it at 110k miles.) - STI version hood scoop. This is a Subaru part that allows more air to cool the intercooler. - Trailer hitch. I used it with a rear-mounted bike rack. - Tinted windows Things to note: - There are a few chips in the paint around the front that you would expect on a car of this age. - The heavier clutch has a little bit of chatter if you try to start too softly. - Since I use RainX, I have never used the windshield washer system. I think the supply tubes dried out since there has never been washer fluid in them. - In the sport instrument cluster, the oil pressure gauge does not work. The oil indicator in the dash works, but this is an add-on option that relies on a wire that goes into the oil drain plug underneath the engine. Objects and branches on the road cut this wire, and after the 3rd time repairing it, I did not repair it when it was cut again. Easy to fix. It is the buyer's responsibility to test drive and ask any and all questions regarding this car. I will try to answer everything to the extent that I am able, and I will make myself available for showing the car based on my schedule. This is a used car in a private sale, so there is no warranty and the sale is final, so please test drive the car first and ask me any questions that you think are important. |

2015 Subaru Outback priced at $24,895*
Thu, 05 Jun 2014Just a few weeks after announcing the pricing for the 2015 Legacy sedan, Subaru is getting ready to roll out the all-new 2015 Outback with a base price $24,895, plus an $850 destination charge. Like its platform-mate, the styling could be described as an evolution of the previous generation, but the company claims big changes underneath to improve comfort. It's scheduled to starting hitting dealers this summer.
The Outback continues to share most of its mechanical bits with the Legacy, including its engines. The 2.5-liter boxer-four-cylinder gets a touch more potent with 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque, and better fuel economy at 25 miles per gallon city, 33 highway and 28 combined. The 3.6-liter flat-six-engine has 256 hp and 247 lb-ft and also sees a marginal economy improvement at 20/27/22. All models now come standard with a CVT, and Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive gets some improvements with standard Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Active Torque Vectoring and X-Mode, a system to increase traction when needed.
The base 2.5i trim goes for $25,745 (all prices after destination), up $425 from last year's CVT base model. It comes standard with a 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a USB port and AUX input. The 2.5i Premium trim retails at $27,845, but the upgrade nets buyers dual climate zones, a 10-way power driver's seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, all-weather package and a 7-inch infotainment system. The 2.5i Limited costs $30,845 and includes leather upholstery, 18-inch wheels, a 12-speaker stereo, heated rear seats, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert and a power tailgate. The top The 3.6R Limited trim is $33,845 and in addition to the bigger engine features HID low-beam headlights and stainless steel dual exhaust tips.
Evo shakes down Subaru WRX STI on Swedish tarmac
Mon, 19 May 2014The Subaru WRX STI has never let anyone question its intentions. With a gaping hood scoop up front, massive rear wing at the back and often found with gold wheels spinning all four corners at the ground, there was never anything subtle about this Subaru. The latest 2015 version is made up of many new parts, but the formula certainly hasn't changed. Evo's Henry Catchpole aims to find if it all still jives together on some misty, Swedish backroads in a new video.
Surprisingly, the movie eschews Evo's standard shtick of big, smoky powerslides in favor of a legitimate review of the new STI. However, this isn't Consumer Reports. As the screenshot above implies, Catchpole isn't afraid to chuck the car around a little and put two wheels off the road all in the name of testing the severe sedan's limits. He just puts an equal amount of focus into how it actually drives.
Autoblog's Steven J. Ewing fell in love with the Subie when he did our First Drive. Does Catchpole concur? Scroll down to watch the STI snaking through Sweden and find out.
Hyundai, Genesis, Subaru warn their dealers about markups
Mon, Feb 28 2022Six weeks ago, word got out that Ford's VP of sales for the U.S. and Canada wrote one of those "It has come to our attention..." e-mails to the automaker's dealer body. The VP's problem was dealers trying to get reservation deposits for the Ford F-150 Lightning well above the official $100 fee. The tomfoolery resulted in interactions "with customers in a manner that is negatively impacting customer satisfaction and damaging to the Ford Motor Company brand and Dealer Body reputation." Two weeks later, GM told its dealers to cut out the reservation gaming and the markups on the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, banditry that's been going on for two years. Two weeks ago, Ford was back at it, this time about markups on the Bronco. Last week, Asian automakers swept into the melee, with Hyundai and Genesis, Subaru, and Infiniti writing letters to their dealers to deliver some variant of, "Stop pissing off the customers." Automotive News reported an SVP at Hyundai Motor America and the COO at Genesis Motor North America sent letters to their dealers expressing disappointment at "certain pricing practices which, if left unchecked, will have a negative impact on the health of our brand." One of the practices mentioned was dealer markups, another was the bait-and-switch, with dealers advertising one price then charging a higher price once the customer showed up at the lot. The letters acknowledged that dealers are separate companies to the automakers and have the right to set their own prices. The automakers cannot interfere with that; their leverage is distributing allocations and perks such as advertising support and financial incentives. So, like a movie boss letting the protagonist go on a technicality, the brands wrote, "we cannot stand idly by watching the actions of the aforementioned dealers undo all the efforts we collectively have put into making these brands what they are today." Jalopnik got tipped to a letter Subaru of America CEO Thomas Doll sent to that brand's dealers. Doll's polite yet insistent tone was the result of a letter a loyal Subaru owner sent to the automaker's VP of Customer Advocacy. In the market for a third brand-new Forester, the owner said they encountered a "tax" labeled a "Low Inventory Surcharge" of as much as $6,000, putting the Forester out of reach.
