2002 Subaru Impreza Wrx Sedan 4-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States
I am selling my 2002 Subaru WRX. It has a ton of work done. Moved to Colorado
from Georgia and out there on a 93 octane tune put down 294 WHP and 281
lbs of torque. I am running an OTS map here currently for 91 octane and
it runs fine but would get much more power with a protune.
It has 170k miles on the chassis. 60k miles or so on the 2005 WRX 5-speed transmission. Had brand new EJ205 2.0L OEM short block (not a used or rebuilt block), heads, STI TMIC, IHI VF34 turbo, 565cc Deatschwerks injectors, fuel pump put in 12k miles ago. All items installed then were brand new and broke in the engine for 1k miles not building more than 5 lbs of boost nor exceeding 3 rpms. I have put nothing but Subaru full synthetic 5w-30 oil in it and have never gone more than 2500 miles without an oil change. Total cost ran me around $8000. By the way the old engine did not throw a rod or anything like that just found out soon after buying the car that a rod bearing was going out so replaced everything. Had the rear differential rebuild 500 miles ago and put in a Cusco 1.5 way 60% lock limited slip differential. Still handles well in the snow. This was about a $2800 job. I have just over 15k miles on the tires and the tread still is looking good. Have about 7k miles on exceedy oem clutch and ACT streetlite lightened flywheel. Replaced one of the wheel bearings and the AC compressor a few thousand miles ago. Heater and AC work well. List of performance parts in addition to the above: Mishimoto radiator SPT CAI SPT cat back exhuast no name downpipe Cobb 3 port Boost Control Solenoid rear upper and front upper and lower sway bars Tein lowering springs Perrin lightened crank pully SPT short shifter Stoptech Sport Brake kit (stainless steel brake lines, power slot rotors and performance street pads which are not noisy at all) PIONEER AVH-P4400BH which I have also setup with a PS2 Wired up for subs and have a box with two 12s and an amp in the trunk APEXI turbo timer Cobb V2 Access port The keyless entry and alarm work Roof wrapped with carbon fiber vinyl The bad: Could use a tune if in an area with 91 octane gas for best results Body has some scratches and scuffs Front bumper is scratched up and needs to be replaced due to a poor tow truck driver Right front fender has been brushed up against by someone while it was parked It used to have an STI wing which I removed and so the trunk has some holes in it which is why I wrapped it Interior has some scruffs and scratches and the driver seat has a tare in it I purchased the car July 2012 and believe to be the 7th owner The car runs great and is super fun to drive. Yes the car has some cosmetic issues but I have never been in an accident and the title is clean and clear. Send me an email with your contact info and any questions. I have most all of the records from the parts I have purchased and records from the work that has been done. The car has never been tracked and I do not drive it hard. Most of the miles on her are all highway. Also a non-smoker car and adult driven This is for local pick-up, $500 due at auction end and the remaining due within 7 days from auction end in the form of cash in person or certified payment option. No pay-pal for final payment. |

Subaru BRZ with 362-hp, 2.4-liter V8 is the best thing you'll hear today
Wed, Feb 11 2015Whenever the Subaru BRZ and its Toyota twin are talked about, the conversation inevitably turns to whether they would be even better sports coupes with more power. Since their introduction, rumors have popped up suggesting possibilities like more displacement, turbocharging or even a hybrid setup to increase horsepower, but nothing has come to pass. Japanese tuner Jun Auto has decided on a completely different way to boost performance by chucking the 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder entirely in place of a beautiful 2.4-liter V8. According to the YouTube description for this clip, the engine is based on two of the 1.2-liter inline four-cylinder units from a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R motorcycle. The result is a mill that makes a claimed 362 horsepower and revs to over 11,000 rpm. It also sounds like automotive nirvana. Finished in an eye-catching contrast of bright yellow paint with white wheels and a black wing at the back, the V8 BRZ certainly doesn't hide its performance, either. This video's text is in Japanese, but knowledge of the language isn't necessary to understand what's going on.
Subaru recalling over 8,000 cars for Takata airbag inflators
Tue, 08 Jul 2014We have one more automaker to chalk up recalling Takata airbag inflators. Subaru is now throwing its hat in the ring by repairing 8,557 vehicles nationwide for faulty front passenger inflators. According to the Defect Notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem affects 3,151 examples of the Legacy, Outback and Baja from the 2003 and 2004 model years and 5,406 units of the Impreza, including the WRX and STI (pictured above), from the 2004 model year.
As we all know by now, it's possible for the inflators to explode during airbag deployment possibly affecting not only the bag's inflation but also potentially spraying metal shrapnel at occupants. All of the affected vehicles will receive new passenger side inflators at no charge to the owner.
Seven automakers in the US announced recalls for the problem in late June affecting an estimated 2.1 million vehicles. Unlike some of the companies, Subaru is repairing all of the affected models in the US, rather just in certain warm-weather states. According to company spokesperson Michael McHale to Autoblog the reason is that "it was simpler to get everybody in there and make sure it was done." The replacement inflators should be in by the end of July, he said. Scroll down to read the recall report from NHTSA or download the full defect notice as a PDF, here.
Lexus, Mazda and Subaru top Consumer Reports Brand Report Cards
Tue, 26 Feb 2013A revised methodology in devising its annual Car Brand Report Cards has seen Consumer Reports award Lexus its top overall ranking for 2013. For the first time ever, the institute broke out individual brands from their larger corporate umbrellas, meaning car makers like Lexus and Scion were judged independently from parent company Toyota. That strategy worked out well for Lexus, as the luxury brand earned a top report card score of 79 for the 2013 model year.
The institute has recommended every one of the Lexus models it has tested to date, and said that the company's products won out thanks to "a foundation of plush and very reliable vehicles."
Meanwhile, Mazda and Subaru tied for the second-highest scoring report cars, with scores of 76. Subaru earned praised for sporting models like the BRZ, which CR testers apparently had a lot of fun driving (naturally), while the Mazda products were lauded for their blend of practicality, sportiness and efficiency. Both of the Japanese brands offered good handling, fuel economy and versatility, said Consumer Reports.
