Black w/ gray interior, 5-spd manual, moonroof, factory 6-CD changer, heated seats, clean, non-smoker, 113K mi. 2.5L boxer engine has had timing belt replaced with most recent full-service and head gasket job around 100K mi. Runs smooth, does not burn oil and engine in great shape! Due to previous location in Ohio, front-end control arm factory recall done with replaced sub-frame due to rust on the undercarriage. Tires in good shape, and only body rust is very small corner on rear driver's side fender.

The good: LOVED driving this car, and on top it it a great car in great shape.

The bad: Recently the driver-side rear wheel bearing went bad - should have cost $400 or so to replace. However, after having my local Subaru dealership plus a trusted reputable local auto repair shop here inspect it, many parts would have to be replaced due to the corrosion. They also showed me other places underneath that would eventually have to be replaced as a result of the rust. The bill had climbed to over $1000 to just fix that problem, so I decided to bail.

I am selling the car "AS IS" with no warranty - I know there are some mechanics out there that can either fix this cheaper and work on anything else that needs to be done, or one could easily part it out. Shipping/pick-up is up to you - although engine is great, I wouldn't plan on driving her far at all (if any) with the bad wheel bearing. Any questions please ask prior to bidding. Jalopnik and Consumer Reports see who can pull off the best snow drift

The weather throughout much of the United States is pretty awful at the moment with some combination of extremely low temperatures, inches of snow and maybe some ice underneath it all. The folks at Jalopnik and Consumer Reports are making the absolute best out of a difficult situation by heading to CR's snow-covered test track and attempting to make the longest drift in a quartet of very different performance vehicles. Jalopnik brought along a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S Wagon, a Subaru WRX STI, a BMW 228i and a 1973 Volkswagen Baja Bug (heck yeah!) for the challenge. Also, the track was perfect for this group, with a mix of packed snow in places and still a few inches of unsullied powder in spots too. Ostensibly the goal was to get the tail to step out through a particular corner, but in reality this was more about having hilarious fun in the snow with fast cars. The result just looks like the best time humanly possible in this weather.

Every time I drive a Subaru WRX, I wish one of my parents had taken some weird, top-secret spy job that would have forced us to relocate to Finland when I was a kid. I could have learned the art of rally-style car control as a young lad, and in my adult life, sought out a dangerous/rewarding/awesome career as a professional WRC driver.
Never was that more clear than on the launch program for the new 2015 WRX, where Subaru pointed us down a long, somewhat treacherous stretch of road in the tree-lined mountains of northern California. Quick elevation changes were met with blind turns and washed-out shoulders, not to mention rogue bits of snow, ice and gravel that lined the apexes of nearly every turn. Here, I couldn't stop grinning, my co-driver and I switching between second and third gears, with precise steering inputs and judicious braking keeping us safely on the road and not plummeting nose-first into the trees. And the WRX simply devoured each inch of pavement with a ferocious poise that made me remember why I have loved this car so darn much.
But this sort of 100 Acre Wood perfection isn't the only way to experience Subaru's darling WRX. After a long stint of driving back down the California coast on Highway 1, I realized that Subaru's line about this being the best-driving WRX yet wasn't just a bunch of PR mumbo-jumbo. Of course, it isn't without a few compromises...

Toyota GT86 engineer Tada recounts how sports car came to be

Because the Toyota GT86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ coupes are now a reality, it's almost hard to imagine the struggle that had to happen within the large, conservative corporate structures at both automakers for the joint project to even get off of the ground.
Speaking to those struggles on Toyota UK's Toyota Blog, GT86 Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada enlightens us with a recap of the sports car's earliest origins. For Tada, the first stages of the project must have seemed almost as dreamlike as the final product is to drive.
Said the Chief, "I had been working in the minivan department engineering new product, but a month after the meeting I was summoned. 'Forget about minivans,' they said, 'you are now working on the sports-car project.'"
