2003 Subaru Forester 2.5l Xs - Auto, Awd, Fully Loaded on 2040-cars
Leavenworth, Indiana, United States
Excellent condition 2003 Subaru Forester XS with Automatic Transmission and AWD
Well kept and maintained irrespective of cost with 202,xxx miles on her, the place we bought it had cars with over 300k on them parked on the lot which looked and drove just as nicely, so it's clearly not a concern for these cars. Just had $2000 engine rebuild by Subaru specialist to correct worn oil control rings (fixing higher than average oil consumption), so new owner will benefit from all new rings, re-machined heads, all new gaskets and belts. As near as makes no difference - brand new engine. Always used Amsoil fully synthetic oil for changes and NAPA gold (glass-pack rather than cardboard) filters. Transmission and differential fluid was changed with engine rebuild, so that's also all fresh. The air conditioning was recently refilled and blows ice cold. Finally, note this is the 2.5L SOHC Boxer engine, which is easier to work on and more reliable than the DOHC equivalent. The exterior of the car belies its age and miles, the paintwork is almost completely dent free and there's certainly no rust on the frame. The wheels were refurbished by the previous owner, but 2 would benefit new centre caps to make them perfect. Tyres are in good condition and were recently rotated. Note that this car is also perfectly capable of mild off-roading (should one feel the need) with its legendary Subaru all-wheel-drive system and 18inch maximum wading depth. We live down a fairly rough track at the bottom of a very steep hill and it performed flawlessly come deep snow, flooded creek or sheet ice. As previously mentioned, car is XS trim so benefits: Climate Control Cruise Control Electric Windows Electric/Heated mirrors Heated front & rear window Heated seats Fog lights Front/Rear Disc brakes Subaru branded mats Rear bumper load protector Ipod compatible stereo (fitted by previous owner) In summary: this car is in fantastic condition and has had thousands in work done under our ownership, the new owner can enjoy many years of trouble free ownership. Drop me a message if you need any more information, would like to arrange a viewing, or want to talk about anything I've written here. Many thanks for looking. UPDATE 10/21/2013 - Just had the car inspected for the new owner and had two new lower ball joints fitted, other than that it received a clean bill of health. |

2014 Subaru Forester gets big nod of approval from Consumer Reports
Wed, 22 May 2013While more and more buyers seem to be opting for the functionality of car-based crossover vehicles every day, it's rare that your read much in the way of passionate praise for one. And, while Consumer Reports doesn't exactly lavish written paeans on the Subaru Forester in its latest review - that's just not its style - it did give the CUV a remarkably high overall score.
Praising its excellent fuel economy, visibility, roomy interior and a whole lot more, the testing publication bestowed an overall score of 88 out of 100 on the Forester. That's a really excellent number for just about any vehicle, but it's also a top-of-the-class mark for the Forester's small CUV division. Just about the only major gripe was that of ride quality.
Most of the direct competitors to the Forester have earned CR marks in the mid-70s. The Honda CR-V is some 11 points behind, for instance, while the Toyota RAV4 and the Mazda CX-5 earn scores of 75 and 74, respectively.

Subaru might build WRX hatchback after all
Fri, 04 Apr 2014The 2015 Subaru WRX is awesome. Really awesome. We told you as much in our first drive of the new sedan back in December. Honestly, our only complaint about Fuji Heavy's new performance machine is that it's no longer offered as a hatchback - the new WRX is a sedan-only affair, despite the more functional five-door variant accounting for some 50 percent of sales in the car's last generation.
But there's hope on the horizon, if a report from Australia's Motoring.com is to be believed. Speaking with Masuo Takatsu, Subaru's general manager for the WRX, the company is now re-considering putting the "hatch" back in its hot hatch.
"We have received strong interest from the US, where the hatchback was 50 percent (of previous-generation WRX sales), so we're now considering," Takatsu told Motoring, noting that the United States is Subaru's main target for this car. Additionally, Takatsu said the company's decision to only offer the sedan was the result of limited engineering resources, echoing statements we've previously heard from Subaru's US arm.
