Due to a lack of communication with the previous auction winner, I'm re-listing this vehicle. For sale is my 2002 Platinum Silver Metallic Subaru Impreza WRX. It is being sold because my priorities have shifted and having a second vehicle parked in the driveway no longer serves a purpose. The car has 118,541 miles on it. It has been an outstandingly reliable turn key daily driver. The engine oil has been changed every 4500 miles with Royal Purple fully synthetic 5w/30. The vehicle comes standard with a 6 disk CD player/Cassette tape player, All Wheel Drive, Air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, power locks, and a factory upgraded gauge cluster with a boost gauge, a voltage meter, and an oil temperature gauge (pictured). I've owned this vehicle for the better part of two years and drove it daily until second gear went out on November 8, 2012. The car has remained parked since. That being said, this vehicle is for sale AS IS.
August 2012 the vehicle was involved in a MINOR hit and run resulting in a new front bumper and front drivers side fender (Damage shown in pictures).
Since purchasing this vehicle lots of work has been completed and a few aesthetic/functional details have been added. The list includes but is not limited to:
- 2006 STi Floor mats front and rear
- Custom welded cat-back exhaust
- Brand new A/C system (Compressor, condenser, a/c line, expansion valve, etc.)
- Mishimoto Radiator
- MODE racing short throw shifter (Height and throw adjustable)
- Gates Timing Belt (105k)
- OEM a/c belt
- OEM Auxiliary drive belt
- Gates Idler pulleys (105k)
- Gates Water pump (105k)
- OEM Lateral links
- OEM Trailing arms and knuckle
- OEM Rear A arms
- OEM Front lower control arm
- OEM Right rear hub and bearing assembly
- OEM upper radiator hose
- OEM Thermostat
- Front engine sub-frame
- OEM lower up-pipe exhaust gasket
- Front passenger CV inner boot
The bad: The transmission will need a new gear or need to be replaced. There is an exhaust leak on the top side of the up pipe leading to the turbo. The car is 11 years old and has the expected nicks, dings, dents, creases, rock chips and some minor hail damage (on the hood and roof). Rock chips can be found on the front of the hood and on the bottom halves of the doors. The drivers seat has a small and barely noticeable hole in it. The trunk gasket is split and needs replacing because it leaks under heavy rain. The trunk itself has noticeable dents and the rear bumper has a crease in the center of it.
I've listed everything that comes to mind but if you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks and happy bidding!

Motor Trend pits Subaru WRX vs. Ford Focus ST
Thu, 23 Jan 2014The Ford Focus ST has enjoyed a relatively calm, if brief, reign in the world of hot hatches. With nothing else in the class (in the States, at least) but the aging Mazdaspeed3 and Subaru Impreza WRX and the slow-selling Volkswagen Golf R, the Blue Oval's 252-horsepower five door has been the go-to vehicle for those that don't need the high-octane lunacy (and expense) of the rally bred Subaru Impreza WRX STI and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.
Now, though, as the new Subaru WRX (it's not an Impreza anymore, though, neither is it a hatchback...) starts to arrive at dealers, the Focus ST appears to be under threat for the first time. Naturally, Motor Trend is here to figure out which one is the best, with another one of its Head 2 Head videos. Host Jonny Lieberman puts both cars through their paces, going above and beyond, quite literally, at the very end of the video.
Have a look below and let us know what you think of MT's verdict in Comments.
Subaru is America's third most off-roaded brand
Tue, 01 Jul 2014When you think of iconic off-road brands, where does Subaru fall on your radar? Somewhere in the middle? Perhaps near the bottom? Don't worry, you're not alone. Until recently spending some time in Bend, OR, where we drove the all-new 2015 Subaru Outback, we never really pegged the Japanese automaker to be a highly lauded brand among off-road enthusiasts, despite many of the company's products actually being quite capable when the going gets rough.
But the data says we're wrong. According to a 2013 J.D. Power study, Subaru vehicles have some of the highest use off road compared to other brands - of course "off road" here just means anything not on a paved road, so even gravel trails and tame two-tracks count in these statistics. Nearly 29.5 percent of its cars are used on trails and dirt roads, with only the Ram and Jeep brands besting that statistic, at 30.2 and 31.0 percent, respectively. Said another way, Subaru sold 424,683 vehicles in the US in 2013, meaning that some 125,281 saw off-road use. Mainstream brands like GMC, Ford and Chevrolet all trail Subaru, and even Land Rover comes in at less than 20 percent.
Some 34.7 percent of Outbacks are taken off paved roads, according to J.D. Power data.
Toyota FT-86 Open Concept leaves us feeling flushed
Wed, 20 Nov 2013When last we checked in on our topless would-be hero, the Toyota FT-86 convertible had been reportedly placed on "indefinite hold." That was back in early October, not long after Toyota had trotted out the rear-wheel-drive canvasback to Scion dealers as a possible future product carrot if they decided not to turn in their franchises. And yet, we're here at the Tokyo Motor Show, where Toyota has taken the time to at least repaint the FT-86 Open Concept in "Flash Red," if not build a whole other car (the original Geneva showcar was white). It's enough to make our heads spin like a teenager on the verge of a breakup. Will they? Won't they?
At this point, we still don't know any more than you do - the last word we heard out of Toyota was not encouraging, although the story was that the program could still be fast-tracked if management had a change of heart. As the car has never been seen before in Japan, perhaps Toyota is merely extending its domestic audience a courtesy view before it lines this showcar in mothballs, or maybe they're still trying to make a decision on its fate and gauging public reaction on the homefront.
Interestingly, in a new story published today, Automotive News quotes Subaru brand boss Yasuyuki Yoshinaga downplaying the likelihood of a production model, saying flatly "We make the car, so if we don't make it, it can't happen." The executive went on to note, "Our engineering department told me that losing the entire roof requires a complete redesign of the structure. It would need a big change." Given that such a car would probably trade in rather small volumes, that sounds like a significant hurtle.
