Flat Tire at 5:30 PM? They will help you.
I cannot speak for ALL Firestones, in fact the one at Ben White and Banister is a rip off and not helpful at all. The people at this location however got me in and out in 30 minutes, did not try to sell me a thing, and were very kind to me when I was stressed to the gills about picking my daughter up from daycare in time. (Single parent, when things go off schedule I`m on my own aka screwed). I was so grateful at the... view more fast work they did. Thanks guys!

THANKS FOR WRECKING MY CAR FIRESTONE!
To start off, I had purchased a lifetime alignment with them after they knew my car was lowered, and kept telling me i needed adjustable rear control arms, etc. to do the alignment right, so I would purchase them and put them on and then take it back. They then told me they would have to discontinue my lifetime alignment since I kept modding the suspension and I would have to purchase a 1-time alignment every time I ... view morebring it in. Recently, I brought my car there for an alignment check because I kept finding loose suspension arm bolts that made my car handle crappy, and behold! I come to pick it up only to discover my headlight is cracked and my bumper is scraped up with red paint and my fender bracket for my headlight is broken off! I then talked to Ed, and he would not take blame for it, saying that it was probably already like that and it needed to be painted anyways. I was VERY OFFENDED by that comment, since I take pride in my car. All he did to ""make it right"" was refund my money for the alignment they didn`t even do right and offer to pay for my corner light. my fender was broken, and now my headlight sags! THANKS FOR RUINING MY CAR FIRESTONE!!!!

Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful
I took my car to brake check off S. Lamar and upon driving it home, my power steering belt that they had replaced (incorrectly) broke and caused my timing belt to jump time and then further bent all my valves. I had it towed to my house, called brake check and they were not help. ""these things just happen."" is what they said, bull ****. I took it to Firestone after a recommendation and they not only fixed it fo... view morer me, but went through Brake Check`s insurance company, fighting for me, for them to cover the costs of the damage (close to $3K). With out them, I would have been A LOT worse off. They were wonderful.

loyalty goes a long way--in my book
I have been taking my vehicles here since I started driving in 1999, and before that, my parents took all their vehicles here as well. When I come in, I am immediately recognized by all the employees, and they are very courteous. Firestone is flexible, and will discount certain services that other companies will not. If you have a Firestone credit card, the standard synthetic-blend oil change is only $16! I can hardl... view morey buy the OIL from Wal-Mart for that price! One day I was out-of-town, and forced to take my car to a Valvoline quick-lube location, and I paid $75 for the same EXACT oil-change. That`s a big difference in cost, and shows just how well Firestone was taking care of me. With that said, this is not a Jiffy-Lube, but that`s a good thing. While they might not be able to return your car in 30 minutes, they things done right. I`ve had fluid flushes/changes done, catalytic convertors replaced, engine diagnostics, and I buy all my tires here. Ed is the general manager and is very knowledgeable. I learn something new everytime I take my vehicle in for service. When I compare my tire/wheel service costs with places like Discount Tire, it ALWAYS comes out cheaper. That`s the beauty of going to a place like Firestone... They know that you will be back in, and can offer discounts to help you out now and then. My car is very problematic, being an older sports/muscle car, and they have run into MANY random quirks while working on it. When things like that happen, other shops would charge you extra for their time, but usually Ed will just smile and say, "it all evens out in the long-run." One specific example was that I had my catalytic converters replaced, and a few months later, one of my oxygen sensors failed. These stock-replacement converters had somehow caused, through heat, to cause sensors to get stuck, and I could not, for the life of me, remove them. I took it in and they took the time out of their busy schedule to remove the sensors for me, and put in the new ones while it was on the rack, and did not charge me a dime. This ended up being a very time-intensive processes, since the threads of the sensors were frozen into the cats, and took expertise to avoid damaging anything on the vehicle. Over the years, I have lived near-by in Oak Hill, as well as Waco, and Kyle. I have ALWAYS taken my car to this Firestone location, and they have always been fair, and the job has been done right. I would actually plan my visits to take my car here, and I will continue to take my vehicles here, as long as I am within a reasonable distance from location. When I take the car in, the mechanics know me by name, and ask me all about my car. I feel that they love and respect my vehicle as much as their own, and I have NEVER been let down. Thanks guys, you keep my 2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 running like a champ!

Beware
This particular Firestone has made several mistakes doing repairs on my car. They left the washer out during an oil change and the oil was leaking out. If I had not noticed the my engine could potentially have been ruined. They also did not secure a hose during a brake job. The hose touched the engine and a hole burned into it. I went to the car and backed up to discover I had no brakes!! Luckily I was still in the d... view moreriveway!! These are simple mistakes. I am not sure if they were caused by carelessness or lack of training but we have not been back!!

NTB gave up -- Firestone on 71 West -- no problem!
After a totally frustrating morning at National Tire and Battery -- where I bought two of the tires on my 96 Ford F250 pickup -- I went to see Ed at Firestone on HW71 near the ""Y"" in Oak Hill.
I warned him that NTB had been totally unable to balance my wheels. (See review for NTB on 290 West). He made no promises in case there was some underlying problem but, in fact, I took my truck up to 85 MPH when I left.... view more No shake whatsoever! That`s all I wanted from my tires -- two of which I bought from NTB. They couldn`t do it -- Ed had no problem with it at all.

Should have just waited `til Monday to begin with
Went in and told them I thought I just needed a tune-up, they said they`d have to charge me $90 for a diagnostics check. 3 hours later they told me it was like a puzzle and they had to start by replacing this and keep going until it worked. They didnt even have the parts. I asked them to just change the spark plugs like I originally asked, they didnt have those either. Told me my struts were bad, they arent (quick, e... view moreasy, big money). I told them Id like to just take my car to my normal mechanic on Monday. He proceeded to make snide remarks about my mechanic. My mechanic told me that my one problem caused all the false codes that they tried to replace parts for. Someone called the next day to give me an update on my car which wasn`t even at their shop anymore!
