Best Austin service you`ve never heard of...

I was going to be lending my car to my girlfriend to tote her family to Houston for the week (my SUV trumped her hatchback for space), but it had been having problems starting reliably. Problems escalated late in the evening before I was supposed to hand it over, and at 1am I was faced with the entirely UN... view moreromantic options of reneging on the trade or potentially stranding her in Houston (or worse, halfway in between) without reliable transportation. Frantic calls to advertised 24-hour part shops netted me no response. Stumbled across this listing and figured ""couldn`t hurt"". Within several minutes of an answering machine message I left, I was talking specifics, discussing options, and getting a quote (pending on-site review to see if our estimation of the problem was right).

He arrived at 8:30am, tested and removed the part, and drove me to the parts shop to grab a replacement. By 9:45 he was finished, even providing a few helpful tweaks along the way. Despite the repair taking longer than his quoted 1 hour (mostly due to traffic heading to the parts shop during rush hour), he reaffirmed his quoted price, saying ""that was mostly just driving around"". I had to ASK him to accept more.

Not the easiest to find nor the most well-marketted operation, but if word of mouth still travels in these disconnected times I hope this business thrives. I`d strongly recommend to anyone facing car uncertainty or problem. They`re fast, friendly, amazingly flexible and convenient, and they give verbose, detailed, and understandable explanation the entire way through the process. It`s been years since I felt this level of customer loyalty for ANY type of business. Even if they can`t actually help your car, I am certain you`ll have a much better understanding of the situation and a clearer plan on how to address it after you call. Local, inventive, unique. This is an Austin sort of service!

Engine went boom!
Out on an Annivesary with the wife and all of a sudden, boom, something happened, car died right in the middle of the street. I got out, pushed it off to the side. Was I hungry. Well, I contacted Mars because I had their card, referred by a friend, so I called them. They asked me what the probem was and I told them what it did. They continued with questions until they figured out what the problem could have been. While they were on the phone with me, a car pulled up, it was there guy. He introduced himself, started to look under the hood. He saw that the belt came off. Got a tool, had the belt he needed, and replaced it. 20 minutes, done. I paid him and I continued to dinner, without ever getting dirty and spending a fortune on a tow. Embarassing in front of my wife, but oh well, 10 years, she knows I don`t like to get my hands dirty. I have their card and will program them in my phone as well!

awsome machanic!!!!
I broke down yesterday,,,, i called my mom as soon as it happened,, she got online, and found these guys,,, and they came out and fixed my car right where i had broken down. I didn`t know that there were places like this out there,,,last time this happened I didn`t have my car for three days,,,but these guys had it ready by 8:00 pm the same day!! quick repair, great service
I was leaving work and my car would`nt start. When I called my husband he told me to try this mobile guy he heard of to see how long he would be scence he was out of town. Great automotive service
My husband has been working on our vehicle`s fuel system because the fuel in it had tarnished from it sitting for a year or so and when finished still couldn`t get the vehicle to start. We heard by word of mouth about Bundy and called. He helped us on our vehicle and found it to be an electrical problem in addition to the fuel system. He saved us a lot of money and time. Beware of M>A>R>S> Mobile Mechanic!!!!!!!!
DON`T USE THIS SERVICE I used him to fix a power steering ppump and a belt. He was suppose to have it done at 9p.m. He was going to call me and meet me when finished.He didn`t call or answer his phone. Then finally at 100 p.m. he calles to say he wants to know how to put the belt on. I am not a mechanic, so I didn`t know. Then he wanted me to go to auto zone and print out a diagram and go give it to him. I di... view mored that. Then he wanted to stop working and get paid. The car was still un-completed. I told him I wouldn`t pay him until he finished the work, He was adamant about getting his money that night. It was now 1am in the morning. Who needs 100$ at 1 am? I refused to pay him until he was finished with the work, and left. The next morning, he wouldn`t answer his phone, around noon, we finally met up. The car was miss-firing. This was a whole nhew problem!! He said it was ok. I paid him and he left. As he was driving away, it died. I managed to get it to a shop where they estimated the damages at $500. M.A.R.S. auto mechanic will not answer my calls. Beware of this guy. Your better off calling someone else.

Best Experience*Will Use Again
I just purchased my dream car back in Nov 2007. My 1998 BMW 323ic is in tip top shape and I didn`t want just anyone working on it or to leave it at a shop. I thought I had got hold of bad gas, was having misfires and not happy with the overall performance of my car. I searched online and found MARS. I emailed Paul and got a response that same day. He decided that probably it was the spark plug, boot or coil causing m... view morey ""Check Engine"" light to come on. Paul set up an appointment to come out to Taylor and do a mini tune up for me. I purchased my own Bosh Platinum 4 spark plugs and one boot. He was running late because of rain but was very prompt to stay in touch about his schedule.
I have never seen a mechanic work on a car with the hands that he did. You would of thought he was a doctor doing a delicate surgery. He took his time and explained way more to me than he probably wanted. I felt very comfortable with him and his work. My car purrrrrs like a kitten now.
We are planning on more work to be done by him for my husbands car. If you don`t want to have to deal with a dealership or a slow over priced shop, I would recommend Paul to everyone.

amazing mechanic
last week on my way to work I was sideswiped by a truck and run off the road had two flats and needed a tow truck to get to my house. called enterprise for the rental, and off to work I went. i spent the next few days freeking out cause the guy had no insurance and everywhere i called was over a grand,or more maby two hard to tell untill they saw it and that would be another tow and.who knows no one would give it ... view moreto me straight.....later that night i came across a mobile service called ""mars"" and they said they could do everything at MY HOUSE. and I didnt need to anything else but leave the keys and they would call me back with an estimate.... I didnt believe it at first - sounded to good to be true - but WOW i couldnt be happier with these guys. The best car experiance I`ve ever had..I was back on the road in 2 days!!! some of the other places couldnt even give me a price in that time - all for just a couple hundred bucks and ya i didnt get a new paint job but its exactly what i needed ... thx.,Paul... :)

Very poor response to our request for service.
Called this business last evening at 09:30 p.m. and asked for them to please call us back as soon as possible. Gave them 2 phone numbers where they could reach us, and stressed that our need was fairly urgent. We have never received a call back as of 5:00 p.m.. I can understand not being able to work in another client, but believe that we should have at least received the courtesy of a response. When I heard from a staff person at the beginning of their business day ( 8 a.m.), she assessed our problem, and referred us to a towing company instead. She did not want us to have to pay the mandatory service charge if another option was acceptable in our situation and more cost effective. I am impressed by their attention to customer service over making a quick buck. They will be our first and only choice next time.
