On Tuesday, October 29th I arrived in Fort Stockton and stopped at the Flying J to fuel my motor home. There I discovered that I had a diesel fuel leak. I asked the clerk in the station if she had a recommended mechanic and she said she did. She called Silver Star and gave me their business card. Mr. Paul Alvarez arrived, looked under the rig and said he could fix it and asked me to follow him to his shop. He led m... view moree to a ramshackle shop of Fernandez Towing on Dickinson. The proprietor of Fernandez Towing told me I had a leaking hose, removed it and showed it to me. (Picture attached) No work was performed over the next two hours but Mr. Alvarez came and went a few times. Eventually the Fernandez Towing proprietor got under the motorhome with an 18?ˆ? replacement rubber hose, connected it and asked me to start the engine. He reported that the leak was repaired. He and Mister Alvarez then started working on the billing statement. $168.00 in Parts and $250.00 in Labor for a total of $418.00. I was flabbergasted. No more than 1 hour of work was performed and one piece of rubber hose was replaced. I was pressed for time and needed to be on my way so I rode with Mr. Alvarez to the bank to get cash because it was the only form of payment he would accept. On the way back to my rig Mr. Alvarez warned me about Flying J?ˆ™s diesel having bio-diesel in it and it was wrecking engines. I told him I?ˆ™d been using Pilot/Flying J diesel for a long time with no problem and had in fact filled up before he met up with me. He said he thought I still needed to fuel up. My impression was that he was trying to discourage me from going back there and telling them how I was screwed.

the man that aswered the phone sounded confused like he had just woke up and he couldnt find the truck that i sent him to repair but still went ahead and charged 240.00 for `his time` .
