Much better than expected, and I expected a lot
First, their rates were competitive. I`ve used another place three times over the last 15 years (2 deers and 1 tree) and they were great--but too far north. So, based on the reviews I thought I would get a quote--and it was a few hundred lower.

Second, they were very helpful and explained the options, time frame and even e-mailed me a PDF of the estimate when I couldn`t find it later.

Third, they were f... view moreast. They said just three days and it was done.

Fourth, they did more than I expected. My car came in dirty and came out clean (inside and out). In addition, the caught a torn cover that covers the bottom of the motor and got it approved and replaced (after the bid--then billed them direct for it). They also saw a scratch near the rear bumber (they were working on the front). and used the same paint to touch it up--excellent job). In addition, the insurance would ONLY pay for an aftermarket hood--but they recommeneded a OEM hood for my Lexus--so they got it and figured out other areas of the bid to cover for it. It had all the original stickers, etc.

Fifth, the work itself was excellent. The paint matched and it blended perfectly. Plus, they took car of returning the rental.

I felt like I was at a Lexus dealership with all the pampering--without the price. I HIGHLY recommend them for service, speed, ease of use and qualify--what a rare find.

They communicate, let you know what to expect and when!

The work looks great and they treat you well!

They worked it all out with my insurance company and even got them to cover a seatbelt problem that showed up months after the work initial was done!

The best car repair shop
There are two things certain in life for me: My car will undoubtedly need bumper repairs at least once a year and I will always get it repaired at Whitakers from now on. First off, I am one of those people who never writes reviews, but after going to Whitakers, there is no way I could not write one. The bumper of my Infiniti is like a magnet for other cars. I`ve wanted to take my car to Whitakers for awhile now, but the other drivers` insurance always said I had to take it to one of theirs (by the way, this is absolutely false, don`t ever listen when they say that). Right off the bat I could recognize the amazing customer service. Everyone was extremely polite and nice. In addition, I live downtown, but the insurance for the driver who hit me said the Lakeway Whitakers location is on their list of places or whatever and it would be easier for me to get my car repaired there. I contacted the Lakeway location and they said to drop the car off at their South Austin location and they will drive to their Lakeway location to fix and then drive it back for me to pick up. Steve, the owner, said, ""We`ll always do whatever is the easiest and best for you."" When I got my car back, the repairs were flawless. Every other body shop I`ve been to, there were always problems with the repairs. But, as their were transporting my car over, the spare motor oil container I keep in my trunk exploded. They informed me and cleaned it, and then hooked me up at Genie Car Wash for free to clean it even more. No biggie, because it could have easily happened to me and I would have had to pay for car cleaning. Two days later, I noticed the paint on my bumper was cracking. I felt bad about the transportation service they gave me, especially after the motor oil incident, so I went into the Lakeway shop directly. It puzzled them for a little bit, but they were readily prepared accept responsibility and fix it for free and pay for a car rental. After closer examination, they found that someone had backed into my bumper (go figure), and showed me the dent, and that was the cause. However, they STILL fixed it for FREE! I got my car back today, and again a flawless repair. (Note: when I got to the shop, they still offered to do the transportation service from South Austin to Lakeway, but I declined for the reason mentioned above). Bottom line: Whitakers provides the BEST customer service I have seen anywhere, not just in the car repair industry, and they fix cars to perfection. If you need any kind of car repair, you MUST take your car to Whitakers.

We`re so lucky they are out in Lakeway
This is the third car we`ve had repaired at Whitakers. I took my Lexus there for repair before I`d heard from the other insurance company. When I told them who I`d brought it to, the insurance company was so excited. She said she didn`t even have to send an appraiser out, that this was one of the best companies they work with. I`m revising my review from a couple of months ago, which was written before Whitaker`s had completed the work on our car. At the time, I was frustrated by Whitaker`s customer service--specifically that they never told us when dates slipped. At the time, I also felt their prices were going to be steep.

Looking back, I missed the mark in my assessment. In particular, the price for the body work ended up being ... view moreless than what I`d expected, and less than what we`d been quoted elsewhere. Better still, the quality was first rate.

So, in our experience, we don`t agree with other reviewers who found Whitaker`s to be pricey. ? 

Overall, despite being upset by the lack of communication as to when the car was would be ready, we came away pleased with Whitaker`s. In fact, we took a second vehicle there a month later. (Both vehicles had been damaged in the massive hail storm on March 25.) We wouldn`t have do so if we didn`t believe that Whitakers did good work for a fair price.

Excellent!
I needed a repair done to the bumper of my Honda. I brought it in, got a quote and a couple of days later we had a hail storm. The shop suddenly became very busy with major work, and my small repair could seem insignificant, but these folks handled it beautifully.
