Shady business-Don`t Go To Expertec
Took my auto to Les Schwab first for a possible belt problem, they don`t do belts but mech informed me that my belt problem was a 15 minute job.
Expertec told me an hour plus was trying to charge me double the price of the belt. I called Napa and the car dealer for the exact belt number for the year and make of my auto and still Expertec was going to charge double the price and had so many excuses saying the car dea... view moreler wasn`t quoting me right.

Better Options in Town
As a woman bringing a car to a mechanic, I expect to get a little bit of run around, that`s why I am upfront about my problem(s) and my expectations. I am new to town and looking for a mechanic; this is not them.
My first problem with them started when the manager tried to hint strongly that my vehicle may have an issue unrelated to what I brought the car in for (that I happen to know is quite expensive in man-ho... view moreurs and I know is common to my make/model--instantly shady), that my car currently had no symptoms for.
Expertec then decided to further take advantage of me by clearly ignoring my straightforward repair request and performing an unnecessary additional 2 hour diagnostic on my vehicle, charging me the full hourly price for merely hooking my car up to a code-reader. I have the $45 scanner at home: I am capable of doing an internet search and being familiar with an engine. It was entirely unnecessary for them to need 2 hours of diagnostic work (doing what? It doesn`t take two hours to run codes!)--especially without informing me prior--to determine the same problem I came in asking to have fixed.
They also did not have common parts in stock and needed to keep my car overnight for the undemanding repair ($20 engine thermostat). When they called with the ""prognosis"" of my initial problem, they informed me they hadn`t even looked at my second request (an issue with the electronics module in the door). Had I let them continue with my vehicle, they wouldn`t have identified my second issue until the following day--where they (again) wouldn`t have had the part in stock and would need to keep my vehicle yet a third day.
Expertec, you come off shady, unprofessional, and willing to take advantage of the well-intentioned. This is not how you do business in a small town.
I`ve since learned they have this reputation in town. Recommendation: Stay away!
