I didn`t leave feeling like I got "taken care of".
Performance Research does great work. The gentleman took his time to explain different options and to get a good understanding of what I was looking for. I needed basic machine work done with a goal of high-performance street driveability in mind. I was told to drop off my head for an estimate as they do not do estimates over the phone.
No problem. My friend works at a shop so I had him put my cylinderhead in ... view morea parts washer, the `hot water` type, before I dropped the cylinder head off at the machine shop. I dropped off a clean cylinderhead at Performance Research. After a few days I called to check on the estimate and the guy working told me he wanted to clean the head to give me a proper estimate. He didn`t say anything about charging me to clean it.
I OK`d the estimate I was given, after I told the man I wanted to save money because money was tight, so he respected that and tried to `help me out`. When I went to pick up the cylinder head, it was more dirty than when I dropped it off. When I looked at the bill, I was charged $32 dollars to clean the already clean head I dropped off. I asked why I was getting a dirty head back and he said he did that to save me money. So he charged me to clean the already clean head, and then he wanted to charge me again, to clean the head that got dirty during the machining process.
Like I said, the guy was very nice and proffessional, helped with my questions. The machine work looked great when it was done. But wanting an extra $32 dollars to re-clean the head; after I already spent $400 on machine work and the `pre-cleaning`, was in my opinion, unresonable and left me feeling like I was getting `the short end of the stick`.
