saved me money
Went there after two other shops that insisted I needed a new transmission for about 1700. These guys replaced my accelerator spring in my dodge neon and I was off and running. Total Cost - $199 with fluid and filter change! Wow! Go here.

good work
They do good work. I used to work at the parts counter at AutoZone on Vine St for 4 years and asked everyone I knew in the business about this shop. I had several people I trust tell me to take my car to them and nobody else. Very happy with my car.

Awesome folks
Trustworthy and honest. Veeeerrrry good communication throughout process. They did it right. He even came to pick me up at my house and drove me to his shop. I heard horror stories from coworkers about other cheaper places. My boss gave his business to a shop on the west side and paid only 1600 and his transmission failed 1,000 miles out of warranty. Over two years, he paid 3800 for two rebuilds in under 30k mi... view moreles. With the other shop he had to pay for his own tow and rental car for 10 days! His rental car bill alone was 400. He was so remorseful - could have paid willoughby aamco just 1900 up front and had a 2 year warranty plus no downtime. Willoughby aamco even offered the option of a lifetime (wow!!) warranty to show how much they stand behind their service. It was more symbolic than anything to Jeff (boss) but the mechanic was dead serious and willing.
Boss said it best - transmission is inside thick aluminum, you have no idea what really got repaired and what didn`t. There is no way to tell! If they give you a cheaper price, they will makeup their profit somewhere and you will eventually be stuck (no pun intended). I told the owner of willoughby aamco (Vince) this story - and his response told me a lot about his character as a business owner. He smiled apologetically at Jeff`s misfortune, refused to say anything negative the other shop, and said something to this effect; "I know what corners they cut when they shave hundreds off the price. It`s not right. Most people don`t realize the cheap guy is cheap for a reason." It was at that instant I was so glad I came to them.
Willoughby aamco explained the difference between cheap and quality rebuilds. No salesmanship. If you call, you will either talk to the mechanic or owner. Offered old parts back & explained what I was paying for. Focus on quality and craftsmanship not cheap and temp fixes. I believe in these guys. Like I said they do it right. Main mech guy is ASE certified and college educated. Impressive.
Will be sending friends to them in future. Just got laid off last week and in this economy, can`t afford to waste money on something that is going to konk out on me just out of warranty. I need to keep my car for a while. Oh BTW - they gave my car a free oil change as they noticed the engine oil was dirty and overdue. Filled up all my fluids too without being asked. Attention to detail and respecting of others time and money.
When you hand over thousands of dollars to people, you want to know that you gave it to the right people. Well, that`s how I felt at this place. All businesses should be like them.

honesty and quality
I had to let you folks know about these two gentlemen at willoughby aamco. My sister and father both had their transmissions worked on this year at willoughby aamco. My father has told everyone he knows about this shop, swearing by their honesty and quality. I am a salesperson for Mary Kay and travel 40,000 miles/year. There was no good time for my car to break down on me, but these guys made the whole experience... view more better.
I called the shop at 9 at night. Vince answered and had my car towed the same night to his shop. He arranged a rental car for me in the morning for a lot less than avis in Euclid wanted. Eventhough it would upset my dad, I called around for prices on the transmission, but other shops were so quick to jump to pricing instead of asking me about my transmission problem. This really pissed me off - what if I didn`t need a new one? I am a woman and didn`t want to be taken advantage of. Plus it didn`t make sense to me that the prince range for these transmissions was several hundred dollars. It was confusing. I decided to go and pay them a visit. I was impressed by how serious these guys are. The mechanic took me to his work area and actually showed me five or six different parts that could easily be left out by "cheaper" rebuilds - thus explaining the huge variance in price quotes I was getting. I felt like I dodged a bullet. He showed me how easy it would be for other shops to reuse parts and since they are inside of this bug hunk of metal I would never know. He explained that the parts might last and they might not last. Problem is, as I understand it, to replace the parts you have to open up the whole transmission again. Most shops rebuild transmissions to last just outside of warranty so they can get your money again down the road. His philosophy is to rebuild them to outlast the original transmissions so I could send friends and family to him. He told me that 50% of his clients are refered by friends or family. I see why. This little shop was very busy when I was there.
Also - to top it off, these guys offered me an optional lifetime warranty on the transmission if I wanted it. That blew me away. I was so impressed with them, I did end up getting the lifetime warranty with all the miles I travel. I picked my car up two weeks ago, and this morning got a call from Vince asking how I was doing. That`s why I`m wriitng this review on behalf of my family and I. These guys really impressed me! If you call, make sure you talk to either Vince (owner) or Rosnon (mechanic) and tell them Lisa with the Chevrolet Impala said good things about them.
