Great Auto Repair Place

The waiting room is clean. The staff is efficient and nice. The work done on my car was excellent. I will be back!! The technicians really know what they are doing. Don`t hesitate to check them out for major repairs or maintenance.

Excellent!

I brought my Subaru in because it wasn`t running quite right, was due for an oil change and the driver`s side headlight was out. Larry took it in and let me know a few hours later that it was ready to go after changing the oil, replacing the headlight, cleaning the fuel injector, and replacing the spark plugs and wires. I have used Pro 1 Automotive since 1986 when the company I was working for used them to maintain their fleet of trucks. I saw how well they treated the company trucks and what a bunch of great guys they were so I started taking my vehicles to them.
I am a geologist and my work takes to the remotest most difficult areas to reach in the western US. I need a reliable and dependable vehicle to get there and get back... view more no matter what I encounter. Ricky, the owner, and his crew at Pro 1 have done that for me, my wife and my daughter for all of our vehicles. The mechanics are skilled, trustworthy and honest about what they can do and what the repairs will involve and cost.
For 25 years I have trusted my vehicles to Pro 1 and will continue for another 25 years. I recommend them to anyone who asks me about a good auto mechanic. They have worked with me when times were tight and I have never felt taken advantage of in any repairs or recommendations.
Those who have bad experiences at Pro 1 probably wanted something for nothing or expected a miricle to be performed on their hunk of junk. 25 years of satisfaction is difficult to argue against - Pro 1 is simply the best shop in Reno!

Never go there

I replaced timing belt there, they would not allow me to use Ford timing belt, they insist on using the OEM aftermarket one. They charge over 700$ for timing belt, water pump. I complained to BBB, they don`t care. They are very expensive. The point is the belt just last 40k miles, and then broke. They told me it can last at least 60K miles. Damn it. Never go there!

Part swappers, that`s what they are. They swap parts until you stop complaining, in the mean time, they charge you for both the labor and the parts. They replace parts that do not even need replacing. I filed a claim with the BBB, they do not even have the decency to respond to the BBB. The people who leave good reviews, got lucky. I would not trust them with my bicycle.

Honorable Trustworthy

I have been in business in the Reno area for 17 years. I have met a wide variety of people who own businesses in Reno and many of them were not so honorable or trustworthy. Ricky (the owner) is an honorable man and was struck by the last two reviews in such a way that it made me want to go to his shop.

Get a second opinion

I brought in my Impreza for a funny sound coming out of the right front strut area. I was told that I was in need of some new struts. The quote for new struts all around came out to be about $1400 dollars. Reasonably priced, struts being a big job. My car has 60,000 miles on it, they told me that although its not a lot of miles the car, its 10 years old and needs new struts. So I went ahead and got them. In the... view more end its was $1700 because the car also needed a camber adjustment kit. It was done in a reasonable amount of time, and mechanically everything is all right. The staff was helpful and professional. But the problem is that the sound I brought the car in for is still there, and there isn`t a noticeable difference in the ride. It seems to me that now I`m $1700 bucks down with no real bright side other than I got a jump start on getting some new struts that I will eventually need, but not now. There isn`t anything I can do about it. I would recommend getting a second opinion before you have any major work done by these guys.
