Here are the facts. 2/4/10 ?ˆ“ Automotive Body & Tire Center installed a new brake caliper, supplied by me. Labor $121.05 2/15/10 ?ˆ“ Brake pads are binding on the caliper. AB&TC diagnose my caliper as de... view morefective, and install a new caliper they provided. Additional costs $313.67. AB&TC returned my new caliper to me. 2/20/10 ?ˆ“ Loss of braking. I found that AB&TC left the bleed valve loose. I tightened it and fixed their oversight. 3/23/11 ?ˆ“ The caliper AB&TC installed is leaking brake fluid (this is the newest caliper on the car! The other three are all fine). I asked Jennings Chevrolet to install the same caliper AB&TC found as defective. Labor $126.00 7/11/11 ?ˆ“ Today ?ˆ“ My caliper that AB&TC found as defective, properly installed now, is still working great! Conclusion - Automotive Body & Tire Center improperly installed my caliper, and sold me another unnecessarily. I stopped by in person to AB&TC to explain this situation and gave the owner Phil Johnson the chance to do the right thing. He did not do the right thing. He listened and offered nothing. I further presented this to him in writing, and again he did not stand behind his work, offering no concession whatsoever. Automotive Body & Tire Center?ˆ™s botched repair has cost me $437.67 in unnecessary expenses. This is being filed as a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, and is posted here to warn others that Phil Johnson, owner of Automotive Body & Tire Center in Skokie has proven himself to be more focused on his profits than your care as a customer. His prices are high, more like an auto dealer, not the prices you?ˆ™d expect from a small shop like this, and he will not stand behind his work.
