Poor Customer Service
Accused my friend of being a scammer. My friend called to get an estimate to replace his starter. Dude gave him an estimate and towing cost as well. They came and towed the car and called back after a couple hours saying it was done. He went to pick up the car. The owner`s son, who towed the car gave him the bill which was less than what was quoted. But seeing as mechanic shops usually charge time and materials... view more, figured must have not taken as long or whatever. Didn`t see the towing cost on there and asked the owner`s son about it and was told that it was included because of some in-town special. Cool. Sounded like he would probably return there for more service in the future. 20 minutes later my buddy gets a call from the owner accusing him of trying to scam them. That the owner had given him a price and that was what my friend should`ve paid. My friend explained that he just figured it didn`t take as long and had asked about the towing fee but was told it was included because it was in-town. Owner threatens him with calling the police if he doesn`t get over there and pay the rest of the bill. My friend returns to the shop and pays the rest of the bill but expressed that he didn`t appreciate being called a scammer which he argued with the owner while the owner`s son tried to print up a receipt for the rest of the bill. Owner justified himself by saying we`ve been here for 33 years so must be doing something right. Owner still accuses my friend of trying to scam them and not being honest. How is it dishonest to ask about the tow charge not being on the original bill and given an answer which cleared that cost. Maybe to generate new return business or whatever. But it looks like they lost this one for sure. Oh well, my friend will just take his business elsewhere.
