honest to a fault
This was the first time in my life when I actually had to persuade a mechanic that my brakes need to be replaced.
Here`s what happened. I first took my 2004 Corolla to a Toyota dealership repair department for a check up and was told my front and back brakes needed to be replaced. They said the front had 1mm left and the rear had 3mm left and that those numbers mean the brakes need to be replaced ASAP. I was s... view moreurprised because my rear brakes were recently replaced elsewhere. So I took it to McCormick Auto Care and asked them to replace my front brakes and to check out the rear brakes as well. Well, they inspected the brakes and even took my car for a ride, but did not see any need to replace the brakes. In fact, they said I have about 5,000 miles worth of driving still left on the front brakes and the rear brakes look almost new (which is true, since I had the changed less than a year ago at Rogers Park Auto Care). I argued with them and said I can actually hear the brakes squeak. The whole thing was bizarre since I was actually trying to tell the car mechanic to take my money. They said they`d love to take my money but it just wouldn`t be right so they said I should come in and take the mechanic for a ride to show how they squeak. I came in and we went around the block but I couldn`t get the brakes to squeak no matter what. Anyhow, they didn`t charge me a penny. I was very impressed and would recommend them to everyone who needs an honest mechanic.

Beware.
Rip off joint. Brought in car with broken wiper arm bushing linkage. Had had the same part replaced before elsewhere for 1 hour labor and $25.00 part. However, the first shop didn`t set the arm in the right place when they put the assembly back together, so a month later it got caught on the left windshield frame and popped out of joint. Took it to McCormick because they were open on a Sunday. Told them exactly what ... view morehappened, but they didn`t believe that that was how it broke. Left it with them overnight and said that I had to get up to Lake Geneva WI, but ended up just staying at my girlfriend`s apt 3 miles from the shop. Next morning, they told me that the part that the other shop had replaced couldn`t be ordered by itself and that they`d have to order a whole assembly for $370 and it would take 3 days. A quick internet search proved that this was a lie, so I told them that since it wasn`t raining, I`d just come get the car. Larry told me, ""Where are you? It`s raining here."" I was 3 miles away and it hadn`t rained a drop all day. He was trying to get me to leave the car there for repair. I picked it up, ordered the part he said he couldn`t get by itself, replaced it, and it works fine. Don`t trust them.
