Ever since I first came here to get my car fixed due to an ocurring oxygen sensor malfunction, I have been nothing but dissapointed. My problems started at their old location in actual Evanston when I took my car in to get my O2 sensor replaced and replaced and replaced. They kept saying that as long as it goes out they will keep reaplacing it. My old dealer in Michigan said the same ... view morething and that they didnt know what caused it, but since I paid for it to get replaced once, they will replace it whenever it happens again. It has since gone out a dozen times. I then took my car on a road trip to Denver and the same thing happened before I even left Chicago. The dealer in Denver said that there is clearly something causing it to go out. That makes sense, fine.
I then take it here and they have the nerve to NOW tell me that it is my electrical hub that needs to be replaced to the tune of $2500!!!! They never told me this the countless times I`ve had my car in there to have the O2 senser replaced before.
Thats still not even the main reason why I`m upset. Over the years I`ve had problems with my radio turning on by itself, the volume going up and down by itself, and the cd player kicking on while the radio is on. I asked Chris, one of the service guys, if I replace all the wiring will this solve the problem with my radio. His response was ""Yes, it will cover any of the electronics"". During the last couple of weeks my radio has been spazzing out again so I took it back again. Keep in mind I was there 2 months ago to get all of my electrical wiring replaced. I told Chris what was happening and he said that I will have to pay to have my radio replaced. He also said that he did`nt remember saying anything about the radio before. He then asked one of his techs about the radio and the tech said that that my year of my Outback (2005) has had numerous problems with the radio.
I then left so upset and decided to call the service manager Ray. He said the same thing and that I would have to pay to replace the radio. he also said that Chris would never of said that about my radio. So in other words he was saying that what I said wasn`t true. He then proceeded to start yelling at me like a little child and said ""our discussion is over"" and basically hung up on me. He refused to pay for my radio after the fact that I dropped nearly $3000 for a problem that has been going on after I had my car for only 2 years.
On a seperate note, once they put my dashboard back on from re-wiring my car, there is nothing but excessive rattling from a botched job. They did offer to take a look at it. 1. I don`t have countless hours to wait on something that they should have fixed properly the first time and 2. I will never have Evanston Subaru touch my car again. I will much rather pay a trustworthy body shop to replace my dash then go back here again.
Words of wisdom: If you ever have anyone in the service department tell you something, get it in writing or else you`ll regret it later.
