This has been my go- to auto s...
This has been my go- to auto shop for 10+ years! I started coming here while I was a student at Elmhurst College and drove a Ford Escort and was a return customer as soon as the warranty on my Volvo expired. I get an oil change here every 3 months for under $25 and it`s always done in 45 minutes or less. They have the best prices around for brakes, new tires, etc. They have relationships with the local dealership... view mores and will gladly drive over to the Volvo in Lisle to pick up a part while my car is being worked on.
This is a family owned business and it is always nice to see the same faces. I like that I have a shop that I can trust and when I am short on cash they will let me know what I need done now and what can wait. At my last oil change they gave me advance notice that I would need a new air filter at my next oil change...not a pricey item, but still nice to have the advance notice!
They also have a courtesy shuttle and the driver will drop you off at work or home (if you are in the Elmhurst area) if your car needs a repair that will require it to be there for the day.
Also located right in downtown Elmhurst! You can walk over to Starbucks or Heavenly Cupcake or a number of other places while you wait!
Barry, Chris and Drew....thank you for always taking good care of my car!

Dishonest, Abusive

Dishonest, Abusive
I went in requesting for them to check my battery, as my son left the dome light on. Of course, they came back with needing a new battery and alternator for $560. So, we agreed without checking any reviews. I got the car back, drove it to work the next day and the battery light came on and remained on. The shop claimed that they must have gotten a faulty alternator from the supplier. At clo... view moresing time when my husband went to get the car, it wasn`t ready because the supplier had brought over the wrong alternator. They needed to keep the car for the night. Car was finished the next day, and when I got there, my car had a noticeable "ding" on the door. I hate confrontations, but went in anyway (with my kids) to tell them about the "ding". The son came out, scolded me and said, "Lady, that is not a ding, that is a chip. And furthermore, this chip is on the door, and just so you know, the engine is in the front of the car." The next day my husband went to make sure that the "new battery" was not drained while I drove the entire day with a faulty alternator. He was greeted by the owner and son to an obscenity laced tirade and was verbally assaulted. After the incident and some research, it has come to our attention that not only do they get an F from the Better Business Bureau, but that the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce will not even allow the EAC to try to reinstate their membership because they have such poor customer service and are such miserable people with which to deal. The Chamber of Commerce indicated that this was not the first complaint that they`ve recieved, and knew exactly to whom we were referring simply by hearing the story. The EAC guys take advantage of more than just women, and jokingly told my neighbor when he was in that they just "stole" some money from an unsuspecting customer by convincing him to have unnecessary work done. During the EAC owners tirade to my husband, he said "I own this town. I`ve put everybody else out of business. I make over $3 million a year." My response to this...please pass this on to every Elmhurst resident and Elmhurst college student that you know. Read the other reviews here and the many more on the other sites, and it will be obvious that this place is dishonest, as well as opportunistic in their dealings. I have heard from others that the EAC makes a big push to get the "unsuspecting" local college students to come in, as they have a great location near the college.

Don`t do it...
Ask a local in Elmhurst about this place. Everybody`s got a story. In my case they didn`t tell me the component they were replacing was under warranty. Only found out about it because we kept having strange follow up problems (you hear this part from everybody) that required more and more work and we gave up and went to the dealer. Cost us just under a thousand dollars to fix something that would have been free. ... view more
They were completely unapologetic either about ripping us off, or about doing it so poorly and blatantly that the work had to be re-done. People here just shrug. They have a fantastic, convenient location that keeps people coming in.
Don`t do it.

Elmhurst resident
I recently had my vehicle serviced by the Elmhurst Auto Clinic. I had work done there before and had been satisfied. This time I noticed a problem so took my vehicle back to them and although they did resolve the problem to my satisfaction it was only after I endured an obscenity laced tirade from the owner.

2003 Nissan Maxima
I ususally don`t write reviews, but this warranted it. I needed struts all the way around and my front brakes checked. I called two Nissan Dealerships (one a friend works at), Midas, and Firestone. Almost in every case they would not clearly quote me over the phone. They wanted to see the car...almost like a 2003 Maxima is so exotic that it required further looking into.
I drove past Elmhurst Auto and desided to c... view moreall. Chris, the owner, politely answered the phone and was able to give me an immediate quote (could hear the calculator in the background) without even putting me on hold. The quote was 25% lower than a dealer, I did not have to make an appointment, and they performed the service two days later in under 4 hours as they promised. They even called to say that the strut replacement was going well and I still had 50% left on my brakes so they did not need replacement.
The whole experience was a good one and I hope yours is just as good as mine was.

THEFT
This is not a legit repair shop. The owner is a foul mouth theif!!!!!!!!!!! Misrepresentation of repairs done (actually none were done for 1100.00).
I would reccomend to all that they find another repair shop in Elmhurst as there are plenty of honest shops in the area.
The owner of this company is a foul mouthed slob!!!
This is the type of shop that told my 65 year old mother to "Clean the %$*# out of your ... view moreears and come pick up your $#%@&^* car"
Fowl mouthed theif.
I will do everything to run this guy out of town as he does not deserve a spot in Elmhurst amongst loads of good people and good Auto Shops!!
Bye Bye Barry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terrible customer service
Go anyplace other than here for your car needs. Terrible customer service! Took advantage of me by giving me an unmatched tire and then wanted to charge me to replace it with a matching one. Opportunitic and inflexible.
