William was very helpful and helped us get into a vehicle after being denied in so many places. He listened to what we were trying to accomplish and he got it done . Thank you William

We like and will continue to go to Ray Chevrolet
February 4,2012
Ray Chevrolet was good to us and our family everytime we went in to buy vehicles.
We have bought 2 new Silverado`s, bought several used vehicles, a new Equinox, 2 new Suzuki Grand Vitara`s.
We are not young people. We have been to alot of dealerships over the years and we keep returning to Ray because it`s the best dealership for us. They have been very good with us.
Yes we also had to s... view moreit at a table and wait our turn but that is to be expected when your buying a vehicle.
The Service Department was very helpful to us when it came to our vehicles. A timely response and the vehicle was fixed.
All in all it will soon be time to go back and purchase another vehicle.

Stay away from Ray Chevrolet
On Tuesday, May 17, I called Ray Chevrolet to arrange to test drive a used Porsche that had caught my eye and had been sitting on their used car lot for at least a week that I had known of. When I called, the salesman was very nice on the phone, and even sent me a confirmation email arranging the test drive. So after work, I excitedly drove over to test drive the car. I had owned Porches in the past, and was hopin... view moreg that this car would work for me.
When I arrived, I was seated at a table, and made to wait for around 15 minutes before a salesman approached me and took me out to the car. Even though the car had a plastic rear window, which predates the 2003 updated version of this car, suggesting that it probably wasn`t a 2003 car as adverstised, the car looked cosmetically attractive, and the salesman related that he had just had it ""detailed."" When I got in, I adjusted the seats, put on the seat belt, and attempted to back the car up. The salesman instructed me to pull around the buidling. Following his instructions, I drove forward only to discover that the rear of this building consists of an incline full of pot holes, with cars parked in it and a power line at the end. It was an obstacle course. I requested that we back up and exit through the street, but he insisted I proceed. I made it through this unscathed...but as I pulled the car around the building, I noticed smoke coming from under the car, and a terrible smell. I parked the car, got out, and stated that I didn`t think this car was for me..That it was on fire, and the clutch wasn`t working. The salesman called out some mechanics who looked at the car while it sat there smoking. One pulled up a small ""whale tail"" on the Porsche and then put it down. Although it was still smoking, they would not let me leave. Instead, they insisted that I drive the car out on Rt.12.
Although I wanted to leave, a number of men stood around me and urged me to just try it. So, I got back in, with the salesman, drove the car out onto Rt. 12. At this time, the clutch would not release once depressed, and the cars engine was racing at 7000 RPM`s.I had to use my toe to try and pry the stuck depressed clutch up while begging the salesman to let me pull over. A passing motorist honked , put down his window, and warned us that the car was on fire. I thanked him, immediately turned the car around, and pulled into a parking lot and got out. I told the salesman that I thought that diving the car anymore could blow the engine, and that I would walk back. He told me that he would drive the car back and to get back in.Being a woman, I began to become quite scared of this man, as he was becoming quite nasty, accusing me of not knowing how to drive stick (I only drive stick and had driven in with a stick shift car) .He could not get the car to operate at all.
At this point, a person from Ray came and picked us up. When we . arrived back to the dealership, the salesman told me to wait. I told him that this had been a horrible experience, and that I was no longer interested in the car. As I tried to walk out of the dealership, he followed me out yelling ""You are going to pay for all of the damage you did to this car...You are going to buy a new clutch."" I told him that I had not broken this old car...that is was like that from the moment I got in, but he continued to verbally assault, threaten, and accuse me; as well as try to get me to pay him to fix this apparently worn out car.
I felt scared for my physical safety and didn`t want to leave like some deadbeat.

Worst Experience Ever
We visited this dealership today with the hope of purchasing a new Chevy Equinox. We found a few vehicles on the dealership`s web site that interested us; after sending a message to get an ""eOffer"" a sales consultant promptly called us to follow up and state that the vehicle we were looking for was in stock, in both the Cyber Gray and Black Granite colors we were looking for. Good news and good service, so far.

Based on our telephone conversation we drove almost 50 minutes from Elgin to purchase the vehicle. Although the sales staff were pleasant enough at first, we quickly learned that the vehicles we were told were in stock two hours before were either not available or were a dealer loaner vehicle. (Shouldn`t a person who represents the dealer on the phone have been able to tell us that before we came to the dealership?)
Although the sales manager, Robin, who initially met us at the dealership said that the dealership would quickly work to find us the vehicle at another dealership in the color and model we wanted, our salesperson was not interested in discussing this. He repeatedly pushed an all-wheel drive model of the same car ($1500 more) and a color we did not want, and did not seem to take ""no"" for an answer. This quickly became very frustrating and after talking in circles for several minutes we threatened to leave. At no point did the salesperson offer to find us a car from another dealer`s inventory as we had asked - and after several more attempts to push an all-wheel-drive model to us, we threatened to leave. The salesperson stated that we couldn`t leave because they had the keys to our trade-in. After this response, we became quite irritated and asked to see a manager. Not only was our request refused, but it was then revealed that the dealership`s quoted ""eOffer"" does not include the destination charge. I feel that this is an exceptionally misleading and deceptive practice, as (unlike tax, title, and license), it is a non-variable amount that must be added to the vehicle price regardless of trade-in value or licensing situation. Nowhere on the dealership`s website and web page for each vehicle could we find that the prices did not include the required destination fee.
We became so frustrated that we ended up leaving the dealership without the set of keys to our trade-in we gave them (we`re glad that we brought another just in case something like this happened). It is unfortunate that, in our opinion, this dealership willfully chose to be deceptive and refused to help us find the exact vehicle we were looking for in hopes of an immediate sale from inventory. Chicago area Chevy buyers should take note of our experience and verify BEFORE setting foot in this showroom that the vehicle they want is there AND that the quote they receive includes the destination fee - as every other quote we received from four other area dealerships did.
All we wanted was a fair price on a vehicle that we told them we wanted to buy. Unfortunately for Ray Chevrolet, we will be taking our business elsewhere. We unfortunately wasted the greater part of an afternoon and had a terrible experience. We certainly do not recommend this dealership or the salesperson we dealt with.
