In 1963, Standard Oil confronted Clarence with perhaps the greatest challenge to his existence. Standard Oil was building a new service station in Cottage Grove and they selected Clarence to manage the location. After only several months, Standard Oil made Clarence an offer to become an independent dealer and take ownership of the business he had already begun to build. Clarence`s small service station quickly grew to be amongst the top performing Standard Oil stations in Minnesota. In 1972, Standard Oil, which soon after became Amoco and later BP, offered Clarence the rights for yet another station to be built in nearby Woodbury. Again Clarence`s business grew, but this time much quicker than even he knew possible. By the early 1980`s, the Woodbury site had grown to be the highest gasoline volume Amoco in Minnesota. Today after being rebuilt in 1988, and converted to a BP in 2003, Woodbury BP remains as a clear leader among Minnesota`s BP stations. In the early 1980`s the company was positioned for growth. Soon, Clarence`s son, Stephen, was emerging with an interest to establish the needs of the future for the company as he worked into the role of President. Shortly thereafter, another son, Jeffery, worked into his current responsibilities as Vice President. In 1996, Amy Dumonceaux, Clarence`s youngest daughter, emerged as an area supervisor and became the Human Resource Manager in 2000. Under the current leadership, the company began to expand into multiple Amoco sites, Holiday Station Stores, Goodyear Dealerships, NAPA Auto Parts. As a leader in automotive related businesses since 1964, The LINN Companies continues to pride itself on the accomplishments of each business individually. In 2004, The Companies trademarked the name Paramount Auto Service, which allowed all five Goodyear locations to be under one common dealer identity. Paramount Auto Service continues to distinguish our Goodyear locations as a step above the rest as we become one of Goodyear`s largest Minnesota dealers. Today, The LINN Companies employs almost 200 employees, operates 15 retail locations and owns and manages 19 commercial properties. Even in these new and often turbulent markets, one of The LINN Companies traits remains constant?ˆ”?ˆ?Growth is only possible by treating each individual customer and the employees of the company with professionalism, honesty and respect, ?ˆ? says company President, Stephen Linn. This sense of pride and commitment within The LINN Companies clearly is what makes the difference
