Terrible Customer Service
I asked Winston`s Auto Repair for an estimate to replace my struts. They said that I needed to bring the car in so they could take a look at it. After driving the car to their shop they gave me an estimate of 4 hours. After I received my mail ordered struts I called Winston`s to schedule an appointment. He said that it would take him 7 hours to replace the struts. I told him that I had already gotten a quote for... view more 4 hours. He said someone else must have just taken a quick look but that it would take 7 hours. They made go to their shop for a bogus estimate. Why I will never know. I`m taking my car to another shop.

Stay away from them!
I live very close to Winston`s Auto Repair, so I thought that it would be easier to change the timing belt at them. They did a horible job, and one day later than they promised. The second day my car overheated, and after that a lot of other problem started costing me more than $1000. I will never go there again, and I advise all my friends to avoid them. I would recomend T-auto repair in Burien.

worst ever
My Volkswagon Jetta began experiencing overheating. When I googled the issue, the first three links listed are all related to the water pump. So I took my car to Winston`s Auto and explained the symptoms and described that 90% of all issues related to overheating in a VW Jetta are all water pump related and to please have that checked first to save time and money. I was told that when i drop my car off they would hav... view moree the problem fixed by the next day. So the next day they call me and say that the water pump is not the issue and that there is a problem with the thermostat. So stating that they have checked the water pump I gave them the ok to start working on the thermostat. I get a call the next day and get told that it`s not the thermostat that`s the issue, but the water pump that`s causing the problems. At this point confused, I asked why they didn`t check the water pump to begin with like I asked for and had been told that they had checked it the day before. Their answer, ""We don`t follow the diagnostics from customers. Customers are always wrong."" Their solution? ""I`m cutting you a deal. We won`t charge for the thermostat, only the water pump."" So let me get this straight, The customer is always wrong, and you`re cutting me a deal by not charging me for a part that didn`t need replacing. Yet, here I am three days later waiting for my car that`s still being ""worked on"" Sorry. Never again will I use Winston`s. Their customer service is the worst I`ve seen, on top of that their communication is something to be desired. Upon requesting they call my cell phone upon any updates, they call my house instead. It`s sad to see a business that was stellar drop to such low standards.

Don`t Go Anywhere Else!
At first, I went to Winston`s because it was so close and conveniently located. I keep going BACK to Winston`s because of their fantastic customer service and excellent care of my vehicle.

They have handled all of the maintenance on my vehicle from oil changes to check engine lights and they are always very timely. This May, someone broke into my car by breaking the passenger window. Winston`s Auto Repair rep... view morelaced my window in a matter of hours, at a very reasonable price and had my car back to me the same day.

They are wonderful people who will take excellent care of your vehicle!

Outstanding!
I`ve driven past Winston`s countless times and never thought twice about it. Recently I brought my truck in on a Friday afternoon hoping to get it serviced by Monday. They appeared to be busy, but they were very friendly, didn`t rush me at all, and said I could drop it off and they`d run some diagnostics and give me a call in a few hours.

They did call when promised, and advised that the diagnostics indicate... view mored that the oxygen sensors needed to be replaced -- but they didn`t think that was the real problem. They advised doing some other work first and then moving on to the oxygen sensors if that didn`t fix it. Normally I`d be wary of advice like that, but what they didn`t know was that those sensors had recently been replaced by a mechanic at one of the big name national auto repair companies. Apparently that guy didn`t look beyond what the computer diagnostics said, and I ended up paying for unnecessary work.

Winston`s quoted me a very reasonable price for the recommended work and I gave them the OK. They said they`d have it done on Saturday and would give me a call then. The next day they called and said it was ready to go, and ""Good news! I quoted you for 4 hours of labor but it only took 2 hours."" So the total was about 30% less than what was originally quoted. Would the big name companies ever do that? I don`t think so. The truck is running better than ever now, and I am very happy with the work they did.

I used to dread having to get my vehicles serviced, because I didn`t know a good mechanic and always felt like wherever I took them the mechanics were doing everything they could to fleece me. Now that I`ve discovered Winston`s that apprehension is gone and I won`t take my vehicles anywhere else for service if I can help it.

Best Auto Care Anywhere
The first time I took my truck to Winstons was to have my brakes checked. I had been told by another shop I needed to have my shoes replaced but when Davey looked at them he told me they were find and didnt charge me anything. I later had and alternator replaced by them at a much lower price then other shops wanted to charge me. They are always honest and very friendly and willing to always take time and check out ... view moreany problems I have at no charge. I would never go anywhere else because I completely trust them and when you find a good mechanic you dont let them go. I would always recommend them to anyone.

Beware
Everything was great on a timing belt replacement until I took my car back a week later, with the check engine light on. The mechanic had overfilled the oil reservoir by two quarts!! All they would do was read the codes, reset the computer and say it was not a problem caused by overfilling the oil. Yet my internet research indicated just the opposite, and these people refused to admit to even overfilling the oil. Bew... view moreare!

GREAT PLACE FOR REPAIR
Davy and his crew have worked on several of our cars and are always right there to help. Every time we stop by no matter how busy they are they always stop to fix anything minor or keep the car to make sure every thing is done right. I never worry about being taken advantage of with them. Some places see a woman come in and try to snow them with things they don`t need or want, Winston has never done this. I would sen... view mored anyone that needs repair to them with no worry.

Wouldn`t go anywhere else...period.
Up until a year ago I did 75% of my own auto repairs. Unfortunately, a motorcycle accident changed all that and I had to find someone to do the work for me. My custom truck sat for several months (while I was bedridden) and didn`t sound very good. A mechanic friend of mine suggested Winston`s as I informed him of my dilemma. I took it in for a tune-up, they looked at it for about 45 minutes and told me th... view moreey wouldn`t do a tune-up and why. Being satisfied with the evidence they provided, I agreed it would cause more problems then it would correct. I went home without having to pay for the time or the fluids they topped-off. I called them the next day and informed them of my desire for a new engine. They quoted me a price and it was extremely competitive, as I had done a lot of research and already was prepared for an engine replacement. One thing that really put me at ease was how cooperative the guys were. Steve handled the initial paperwork with humor and politeness. Dave actually invited me to come look as he was working, or grab a wrench if I wanted and join him, noting my unease at the notion of someone doing the work besides myself. Kite was instrumental in keeping the communication flowing, locating the parts needed, and keeping the books. Dave`s wife even drove me home (11 miles). A great show of teamwork! I received my truck before they said it would be done (they worked 4th of July weekend to do this), they not only replaced the engine..., but they cleaned and painted the engine compartment too. Additionally they installed trick stand-offs for the high-performance spark plug wires they installed free along with the HiPerf spark plugs (free). All kinds of extras I won`t mention. In total they did approximately $500.00 worth of work free. Partially due to the engine manufacturer quoting the wrong price, but Winston`s stuck with the quoted price and ate the overage. As I was standing at the counter watching the three guys doing everything they could to get the price down to the quoted amount, without getting mad, without trying to talk me into something higher, without me having to say a word...all I could do was laugh and smile at their resourcefulness. I have had the truck for it`s 500 mile break-in period, I am extremely pleased and am getting ready to go back for my (free) fluid and filter change. I would and do recommend Winston`s to anyone needing work, major or minor, on their vehicle. The review before mine (seattleliz) should be taken with a grain of salt. Obviously the woman knows little about autos (same as her friend), and even less about tact.
