Reviews:
We bought a Volvo C30 on March 27, 2013. At the very end of the sale as we were getting ready to drive away we asked Boris, our sales person for the other key to car. He said, "I can only find one right now." We said, "That`s a problem. We have to have two keys." He said he`d go look for it. He came back a few minutes later and said that he was having trouble finding it- but would send it to... view more us. We took him at his word.
We then called Nick the sales manager at Herzog Meier twice the following week. He said they would look for another key. That was a month ago, and we haven`t heard back.
The key that they sold us with our car had a dead battery and almost left us stranded. We were forced to go to another Volvo Dealer, Jim Fisher and have them make us a new key, as well as replace the dead battery in the key they sold us. For the $24,000 we paid for our Volvo we expected two working key. Unfortunately they were ok with selling us a car without one working key.

Dealership refused to honor a ...
H-M made it right. UPDATED: In my earlier review I complained that Herzog-Meier Mazda did not honor a written quote Jess Tichenor (one of their internet specialists) provided over email. As my earlier review noted, part of the reason my wife and I found this so distressing is that we drove four hours to the dealership because the deal was so good. After writing to the managers listed on the dealer website, I was c... view moreontacted by Yeon Kim, one of their managers, who honored close enough to the original deal to satisfy my wife and myself. Furthermore, he had the car delivered to me in Washington. Though the problem could have been avoided had the salesman and floor manager honored the written quote when we arrived, we are VERY SATISFIED with how the dealership stepped up and did the right thing in the end. ORIGINAL POST: Dealership refused to honor a written quote they emailed us. Don`t believe Jess Tichenor, one of the internet people. When Pat Covert, our salesman, saw the price (a price we confirmed with Jess over email twice and over the phone), he said it was a mistake and there was no way they could meet it. My wife and I rented a car and drove four hours to go to Herzog-Meier because the price and financing were perfect, but had to drive the long four hours back disappointed because the would not honor a written quote on a vehicle.

We visited another VW dealer before
We visited another VW dealer before coming to Herzog-Meier. The other dealer was the worst experience. Sceptical, we contacted Richard Kim at Herzog. WOW!!! What a difference. He made us feel like customers of the year. We got a great price (as promised), we felt special and he was on the ball. Please see this dealer before going else where!!!

Doug in Volvo service ROCKS! From
Doug in Volvo service ROCKS! From moment one when I called when my car wouldn`t start, Doug took care of me - he handled the tow, kept me informed, went the extra mile to get me a rental, and even had the snow cleaned off my car when I came to pick it up! I could not ask for a more hassle-free, pleasant experience. If you have to have the unfortunate experience of having your car break down, you can only hope that... view more you get to deal with Doug at Herzog-Meier!

First off, I suspect the favorable
First off, I suspect the favorable reviews for this dealer are fake. They don`t even make an effort to make them realistic. I was interested in test driving a 2011 TDI golf and made an appointment to do so. The salesman Amen said ""we`ll have the car ready for you"" When I got there they said they didn`t have enough fuel in the car for a test drive. This is the first time they wasted my time. I ended up getting ... view morea much much better deal on a TDI golf from an out of town. What ever you do don`t buy from these guys without shopping around first. They were $7,000.00 higher!
My new Golf came with free service for the first 32,000 miles so since H.M was the closest dealer I went there for service. They said it would take about 45 minutes, then they`ll come and get me. After an hour and a half I went to check on their progress. The service writer said the car had been done for 45 minutes. They forgot to let me know.
1 week later I got a survey call checking on my satisfaction. They asked specifically if H.M. had honored my time. My negative response resulted in a panicked call from the service writer saying his boss would call me later and could I please say i;m satisfied.
This is a broken organization.

Double-check EVERYTHING before you sign the contract!
My sales person was friendly, knowledgable and quite helpful during and after the sale. During the negotiation, the sales manager came over to ""seal the deal"" and did his job as expected but was too pushy for more overall comfort level. I was buying a car and not on a ""date"" so I over looked his hard line tactics. Then the finance manager I dealt with was truly a different story by adding in various dollar item... view mores not part of the deal, manipulating the contract trade-in and cash down numbers to fit the agree purchase price. I questioned this and he said it was the way things were done to get ""the numbers to fit"". I hold myself accountable at the end of the day because I trusted a used-car dealership to do the right thing. I should have known better than to trust them. Two weeks later their finance department called me and said I owed them $500.00 more as my part of the cash down. I disagreed with that, rightly pointing to the fact I paid everything we agreed on - I had kept the negotiation notes. The finance manager said I signed the contract and they had not collected the extra $500.00 at the time and would take me to small claims court to get the money. THEN, when I had difficulty with the car and had to bring it in to get it fixed (it is a certified pre-owned), they didn`t even get to it on the day they had it - although I had an appointment. That caused me to go through the ordeal of dealership van rides and rental cars and return trips to the dealership and rental facility. There are other things wrong with the whole experience with the dealership (their lack of attention to detail and thoroughness inspecting the vehicle to ensure everything is in working order). Long story short - their good ratings are Hype, Flash, Marketing. They are not the best in town and have a long way to go to live up to their Hype.

Scammed, Lied to - a waste of time
I emailed then called and spoke to one of the managers about availability of a Jetta wagon for test driving. We explained we had driven one with an automatic but really wanted to drive the manual transmission - which is what we would buy. She told us yes, they had both manual gasoline & diesel on the lot we could test drive that day. I expressed surprise since other dealers in the area have not been able to keep any... view more Jetta sws with manual transmissions on the lot. She assured me they had them. We arranged to meet with a salesperson in 30 minutes.
Guess what? None. Lied to. Hadn`t had any.
Confirmed by 2 different salespeople there once we drove out from Portland.
Did they really think we would get out there and decide an automatic was indeed what we really wanted? And we want to buy it from the dealership that lied to us?
All the other dealerships we had contact with were truthful and willing to work with us.
And to top the day off - big wreck on 26 and we sat in traffic trying to get back to Portland.
Thanks Herzog-Meier. You made the decison to go elsewhere MUCH easier.

Good follow up if there are problems
We bought a hi-mileage Acura as we needed to replace a vehicle. The purchase was as-is. Turns out the next day the car started pulling left. I took it back (nervous about the as-is purchase) but Herzog Meier took care of that and a power lock problem at NO CHARGE and EVEN PAID FOR A RENTAL CAR though they had no obligation. They fixed the problems. I even had an email from Mr. Herzog himself late one evening ... view moreto assure me that every thing would be fixed.

Staff is friendly
I was definitely converted into a Herzog-Meier fan when I visited their dealership in December. Very friendly staff and an extremely efficient service department. I dropped off my Jetta for a minor repair and they had it back to me and running like new in just a few hours. They have an online service scheduling tool that lets you pick what time you want to drop off your car - and I found this really helpful. Herzog-Meier has FAKE reviews on CitySearch.
I was interested in a car that Herzog-Meier listed on craiglist, but I refuse to shop at any company that writes or pays for its own fake reviews, and this is one such company. With a little digging, it`s obvious that all the 5 star reviews for Herzog-Meier on here are fake. Just look at the profiles for the last 10 ""reviewers."" They have all written glowing reviews for Herzog-Meier, the same two Toyota dealerships... view more in Gladstone, the same auto body shop, the same two dentists, the same property management company, and the same spa and hairdresser. What are the odds that 10 people would show up at CitySearch at roughly the same time and all feel compelled to review the very same businesses? What are the odds that these people would happen to be ""customers"" of two different dentists and three different car dealerships all in the same week?
Either Herzog-Meier is paying someone under the table to write these reviews, or all these businesses are owned by the same people and they`re writing the reviews themselves, or it`s Herzog-Meier writing the reviews and they have gotten so lazy that they keep choosing the same five other companies to review as a coverup to make the ""reviewers`s"" profiles appear legit. My money is on the first option: they`re paying someone to write these reviews.
