Beware!

I was initially very excited to have an experience with another St. John`s business as I love to support my community. Unfortunately this was not a positive experience and I felt I should warn others of the potential of being put into a situation such as mine. In short, I had requested a bid from Coyner`s to replace the sunroof switch in my car. I was told that I would receive a call-back with one business day. Two w... view moreeeks later, I had not heard back and because it was supposed to rain, I called back to see if they had any information. They said they could not obtain the switch but would gladly close it for me, which would cost ""significantly less than replacing the switch and be a good temporary remedy to having a hole in my roof."" They said it would take two hours and they would call me with a price-quote to approve before they began the work. The switch was bid at $100 so I anticipated closing the roof costing no more than about $40 -- to me, that`s ""significantly less"". Seven hours pass and I hear nothing, so finally call to see if they have a price for me. To my dismay, they had done the work without my authorization and would not give me my key even to look at the work until I paid them $147 (NOT significantly less than $100!). Upon asking them about this, I was treated extremely rudely and told that if I wanted my keys, I had to pay and I should be appreciative (!?). Once I finally received my car and was charged the unauthorized amount, I found that the sunroof was cracked in two places and leaks. They did not (and obviously will not) return my call(s) regarding this. I have had to file a dispute with my bank because I do not feel it`s fair to be charged for something you would not have paid for to begin with (a nice auto-body shop in Multnomah Village had quoted me $70 and I WOULD have gone there instead had Coyner`s been professional and honest by letting me know what they would be billing me), particularly when they did not fix the problem but worsen it.
