I spent some time with one salesman, an older Dennis Farina lookalike, going over a mint 10-year-old BMW. Probably one of the cheapest cars in the showroom at the time, but I was a serious buyer with money to burn---I`m an engineer---and would very likely have come back when I got bored with the Bimmer and traded it in on something much more expensive, like a nice 911. However, the salesman did his best to lose my business. I arranged to meet him as soon as they opened the next day so that I could pick up the car, take it to my mechanic, and get to work in time for a 10 a.m. meeting. He blew me off and didn`t show up when he was supposed to. I left and didn`t come back. One sale and a potential repeat customer blown, and nobody there seemed to give a fig.

Disapointing Experience

I traveled from california up to Portland to pick up a porsche 911 that was purported to be in ""Excellent"" condition and ""doesn`t need a thing"". I guess I should have been concerned when the salesman that was supposed to deliver the car wasn`t at work the day I showed up (Sat). I flew up from San Jose to Portland, spend the night and then took the train out to the dealership. The guy wasn`t there to meet me, a... view morend I had to take a cab to the dealership. The car looked good and seemed to run fine, so I took delivery of it. Naturally when I was about 100 miles from the dealership, the dashboard lights started going on and off as it was raining cats and dogs. The car continued to run, but as you can imagine, having 12 more hours to drive, it made me a bit nervos. Then when I got to Redding CA and it was 90+ degrees, I found out the A/C did not work. Turns out the drive belt wasn`t even on the compressor. So, I ended taking the car to the local porsche dealership and $1200.00 later the problem was still not fixed, and Northwest Motor Cars was not taking responsibility. I got them to split the cost of the A/C repair and service, but that was it. If you are considering buying a car from these guys (expecially if you`re traveling to get it), make sure you get it evaluated at a dealer before you arrive or have it shipped. I learned a valuable lesson, and never did get the car fixed properly. I ended up selling it for a $10K loss.
