Reviews:

This shop is one of the most professional, timely, and trustworthy I have encountered yet. My girlfriend and I were on the road back to California from Seattle when 4th gear blew up in the transmission just as we were approaching the Plum Street Exit. We coasted into the parking lot and stopped right in front of Mike`s Plum Street Auto. It was President`s day and only a few minutes before closing when Mike (th... view moree owner) happened to still be in! He took a look at our car, realized that it needed to be fully diagnosed the next day and handled the whole situation very calmly, professionally, and even cheered us up with the occasional joke. (You can imagine our bad mindset considering we were going to miss our hotel reservations for the night in addition to needing to fix the car). Mike immediately gave us a loaner car, pointed out a nearby hotel, and just asked that we return the car with the same gas. I`ve worked at a car dealership for two years in both service and sales, and never before have I seen such a kind and trusting owner of an auto shop. With the assurance that diagnosis would begin the minute techs were available, we slept soundly that night. A phone call from Mike early the next day confirmed our worst suspicions, that the transmission needed replacement because 4th gear was causing lots of errors. (I already suspected some internal mechanical fault due to the nasty grinding noises that were accompanying the car`s limp mode). After much deliberation over the many options clearly laid before us by Mike, both the expensive and the inexpensive, yet uncertain, fixes, we decided to replace the transmission with a remanufactured one. He gave us a time estimate, and although it was in the end exceeded by a few hours, the time taken for installation of the transmission was extremely short. The cost of repairs was completely reasonable. We paid for the repairs, transferred our items, and hit the road to California after just two nights and days in Olympia. We chose to drive straight home and the new transmission operated flawlessly for literally 14 hours straight. If it weren`t for the professionalism, timeliness, or honesty of Mike`s Plum Street Automotive, we would have neither made it back to California with such peace of mind nor enjoyed our short unexpected stay in Olympia as much as we did. Thanks Mike!!!

They said my car needed a timing belt. They told me that the old one was "shredded" Unfortunately for them, I`d already pulled the covers off and knew the belt was like new. He insisted it was shredded. When I asked to see the old belt, he talked to the tech who said the belt was like new. I asked what was wrong and he said it jumped a bunch of teeth. I asked what would cause that and he said "bad tens... view moreioners". I asked if he replaced the tensioners. He said no. I asked why? He said he didn`t trust the belt. He said that the engine was binding. I said, no, it is not binding. It was turning over easily. Don`t trust Mike or this shop.
